Sony’s a fan of making you look like a loon. After all, who could forget the fairly recent HMZ-T1 headset? We’ve still got neck ache from testing it out. As such, it’s little surprise that the company’s a fan of Oculus Rift technology, as evidenced by Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida. “We’ve got a couple of development kits, and I tried it out and love it,” he recently grinned.
But could the PlayStation 4 support the virtual reality headset? Not yet, according to Yoshida, but it does seem like a very real possibility in the future. And the fine folks at T3 have produced a mock-up of what the potential peripheral could look like. The hypothetical device includes a 7-inch HD display, accelerometers, and more. It’s even got really shiny bits on it to add to the sci-fi look.
Is this something that you’d be willing to wear in the comfort of your own home? Let us know in the comments section below.

I'd wear it, I don't understand why some people would get embarrassed? It's not like you're walking around outside with it on! FYI - I would still do that
Or you know, the even more recent (August 2012) HMZ-T2, that's lighter and more expensive amongst other things .

It also looks horid and huge, and would definitely break your nose clean off.
@Jas-n Blimey, £999. As I understand, though, the Oculus Rift allows you to look around, right? It's got headtracking. The HMZ-T2 doesn't do that, does it?
@Jas-n Our definitions of the words 'horrid' and 'huge' must be vastly different, because that headset looks really good and fairly small.
I would be glad to wear it for an awesome experience. This could be really cool. Combine this with the PS Move and we got something here. It would just doped on price point and content for me to get it.
Why does it eat your nose? What if you sneeze and just RUIN your sweet new...goggles? I'll be impressed only when I see it in action. Can we use it for Vita too somehow? So many questions still.
This would be cool for games like fallout. Walking through the wasteland looking around and BAM! Radscorpion comin atcha!
I want this on PS4 so bad. I hope they don't wait until the gen after that.
I'd love it if it were compatible with PS4!
make it wireless so I can use it on my PC too, I think Team Fortress 2 already supports it D:
Think of it, The Evil Within in first person with the Oculus Rift O.O or maybe... Sword Art Online? XP I was honestly surprised no one had mentioned it yet. With continuing advances in brain-wave technology though (I've seen people control a virtual ball with their mind), if Sony picks up on it and decides to implement this now, I can only imagine where technology will go. Well, I can only imagine until it comes out, at which point I will crawl out of my grave and reserve my GameBrain™.
@Lolouch, no, no, just no. That strap looks unsupporting too, like you'll have to keep adjusting it to stop it from sliding off your nose. Tilt your head back, and balance a DS3 on your nose, now imagine it bigger and heavier.
I understand that you may think it's not horrid - a design looks different to those viewing it - but it IS big.
@get2sammyb. Nope, but doesn't stop it from having a better design.
Inb4 everyone breaks their valuables by bumping into things while wearing their headset.
This might be a little too "Lawnmower Man" for my liking. I like immersion in games, but I'm not sure about blocking out the rest of the world to such a degree. Seems too isolated for my tastes.
"A loon" LOL... then I googled the HMZ, and laughed even harder.
Oculus actually looks like a pair of ski goggles, not too bad, unless your sitting on your couch with them on. I'm sure it pulls you in for a more fun experience.
