While pre-orders for the PlayStation 4 are still readily available from most retailers, GameStop recently sounded an availability alarm by shutting down sales for the next generation system – despite Sony telling the North American giant to open the floodgates earlier in the year. Now it seems that we could be heading towards a pre-launch panic, as gamers flock to eBay to secure system reservations.
One recent auction for a PS4 pre-sale sold for an incredible $860 – more than double the console’s recommended retail price. The manufacturer did warn earlier in the year that demand may outstrip supply, so if you haven’t secured your system yet, and you don’t want to pay over the odds for it, we seriously recommend getting your console registered now. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

what a prat he should just use amazon or something and yeah he might not get it day one but it would still be in the first month at least
never understood how people can be so impatient they would pay over double the price for it
good thing come to those who wait
You can still preorder at best buy! Come on now
Isn't that illegal?
You could buy 2 PS4's with that much money. Why are people so stupid?
@FullbringIchigo
I hear ya. Don't know about anyone else but I think I can live without a PS4 for a while if it means not paying an arm and a leg for one. I mean its not like Sony will just quite making them after the first batch.
You gotta wonder just how many pre-orders went to like-minded sellers.
Probably a rich slob
"The manufacturer did warn earlier in the year that supply may outstrip demand" This confuses me. If the supply will be greater than demand, why should we try and get an order in now?
@AceSpadeS You're right to be confused - that's a terrible blunder! Have corrected that in the article! Thanks for the heads up.
I am happy that I pre order back in Febuary and my friend in March, so we is sure to be able to get 1 on Day 1 and not having to deal with Ebay.
I remember how crazy it was when the PS2 came out. My friend's dad paid 1200 dollars for one for his Christmas present. Stupid
@Cowboysfan-22 Best buy has ruined every preorder I've ever made with them. I'd stay clear on something like this unless you're really desperate. Just don't expect them to fulfill it.
@ztpayne7 I was desperate so I had no choice. Haha. I've already preordered the system, Madden, controller, and camera.
@Lelouch They'll do anything to get what they want.
still 13 hours to go, i got this one watched to see how far it goes but HOLY CRAP!!!!! OVER $900

also seller has no feedback lol
Thankfully New Zealand's too poor to buy more PS4s than it will be allocated
If your foolish enough to buy for more than twice what it's worth, when it's available elsewhere at standard price, then you deserve it.
You could import a PS4 from EU for $910
What is wrong with people....
Now, that's dumb....
How many of these preorders are purchased by resellers?
Idiot indeed. Got an email from Best Buy and they are taking preorders till July 31st for the day one launch here in Canada. Was kind of annoyed that Xbox One is getting some special controller and content for the day 1 release, what about PS4?? ???
