With the energy palpable ahead of Sony’s big GamesCom showing in Cologne next week, the Spanish arm of mega retailer GameSpot has hinted that Call of Duty: Ghosts could be coming to the PlayStation Vita. Activision’s been coy about the possibility of a handheld port in the past, but with the game due out on every other system under the sun, it doesn’t seem out of the question.
In fact, last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified turned out to be a decent success – despite being developed on a budget as thin as a peeled off piece of string cheese. Of course, retailers do tend to get muddled up from time to time, so this could just be a blunder on the Spanish website’s part.
Still, with GamesCom right around the corner, and the Japanese giant in need of generating some interest in its portable, we suppose that an announcement is possible. It would certainly tally with comments made by company executive Shahid Ahmad earlier in the year, when he hinted that a major game was on its way to the system. We guess that we’ll find out next week.
Update: As pointed out in the comments, Activision's community manager Dan Amrich has Tweeted that this is merely an "over excited retailer". He added: "Right now, only Angry Birds: Star Wars is confirmed for Vita from Activision." Sure, but could that change next week?

over excited retailer. Sorry, no Vita Ghosts. Right now, only Angry Birds Star Wars is confirmed for Vita from Activision.
So either its not coming or we will hear something at Gamescom. We hope the later .
@ATGReviews Good spot, didn't catch that. Will update the post.
Too bad I will be playing killzone merc
@8vpiper I'd definitely play Killzone if it came out. Have updated the post with that clarification from Dan Amrich. Probably reading too much into it, but he did seem to pick his words very carefully.
Much more likely that this is a retailer error, though.
Idk why, but this makes me wonder if DS4s will ever be able to sync up with Vitas, like DS3 and PSPgo. Cause that'd be sweet-uh, especially with a new CoD
Hmm... If this turns out to be true, and as long as it's not being developed by Nihilistic, It may be worth a shot . If this gets developed by a capable developer, (maybe a small team in Infinity Ward or Sledgehammer), and the port is done well, this can push some Vitas off stores shelves. By the way, I looked at the picture posted on the gamestop webiste, it seems as though it was made with a vita case but with the box art just pasted on there.

Most likely I'll be playing Killzone though, even when this gets released.
If this does turn out to be true I just hope Sony did not spend money to get it there.
as long as the idiots who did declassified don't touch it.
@get2sammyb His words were definitely careful. One can hope!
Black Ops Declassified is the first FPS I ever tried to play. And I keep losing on the second level easily... I guess Black Ops Declassified may considered hard or I simply suck in these games. I may try another of the countless that are available on Plus for free.
Anyway it would be great it Ghosts was released on Vita since it would probably be a PS3 port. Since it is also on Wii U, it may also be available on Vita.
However strange things about retailers happen here so what Activision's community manager said may be true. I now see for preorder on major local retailers Pro 14 for PS2 and Fifa 14 for Wii U (this also has a Messi boxart with the Wii U logo!)
I hope this happens. I'll take Killzone any day over Call of Duty (or Battlefield) but the fact remains CoD is still one of the biggest franchises out there and eventhough this likely wouldn't move a ton of Vitas, it's still important to have the game on the system.
@belmont I thought Black Ops Declassified was really tough, too, so it's not just you!
Holy hell we might get that doggie action and advanced fish AI on the go
As much as the Black Ops version sucked getting CoD games are GOOD for the Vita. A price drop, CoD Ghosts, KZ, and cross play/cross buy will make Vita all the more appealing and we will see an uptick in Vita sales.
