Much to the relief of an overworked Ron Paul, one thing that’s almost certainly not happening any time soon is a PlayStation 4 port of Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming mech-‘em-up Titanfall. Speaking during a financial call earlier today, EA Games’ chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen stated that the first-person shooter will remain exclusive to the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC for the “life of the title”. We bet that pleased the shareholders.
Bizarrely, the developer has been dropping hints regarding a release on Sony’s system for some time, so we suspect that the ink is still wet on this deal behind closed doors. Of course, the strange language still doesn’t rule out the possibility of a sequel shipping on the Japanese giant’s next generation machine. It’s also not clear whether some kind of ‘Game of the Year’ re-release would technically be considered a different title.
All the same, you absolutely won’t be playing the shooter when it deploys early next year. Fortunately, the likes of inFAMOUS: Second Son and DriveClub will still be around to keep you busy. We’re sure that you’ll cope with the lack of robots in your life.
Update: Respawn Entertainment's Vince Zampella has stressed that this deal only applies to the first Titanfall, and that it will work on the PS4 in future.

Such a strange strategy. Microsoft now has to continue to keep EA and Respawn sweet in order to hold onto a franchise that it doesn't own but is becoming increasingly important to the success of its platform. That lack of control would keep me up all night...
Sony's got the right idea by building teams and creating properties that it owns in my opinion.
@get2sammyb Yeah I agree. I would bet that by the end of this next gen we will see Titanfall or a version of Titanfall on the PS4. Unless Titanfall doesn't live up to the hype.
I feel that this news has something to do with the recent comparison between the two machines. With Battlefield and CoD not running as well on the Xbox as they do on the PS4, imagine how embarrassing it would be for Xbox if a previous exclusive ran better on it's rival.
I lost any interest I may have had in Titanfall as soon as the first mech appeared.
@HandandInternet Yeah, I'm sure they had that in the back of their mind when they made the deal.
Disappointing for sure but I've been more interested in Destiny anyway. Just have to hope Bungie delivers.
@get2sammyb It's a shame Microsoft's pettiness is showing.
I never understood Titanfall, seemed like COD with mechs, but whatever
@get2sammyb "Microsoft buys exclusives Sony Makes them" - someone someone
Anyway no biggie ignored everything EA since Origin became a thing. Can live without this as well.
It's strange, I know MS said that about the first Mass Effect never touching a Sony console and the only place to experience it is on Xbox. But maybe different circumstances? I'm not sure. Also Titanfall 2 (if there will be one) will be coming to the PS4. But this is definitely interesting. I'm not worried about it though, got a lot of games i'll be busy with.
Remember the topic that "EA didn't forget about Sony Systems" LOL EA please crawl in a corner with MS and eat poison cheese and die thanks........because the point of reason is that Titanfall isn't all that impressive to begin with. It's nothing but CoD with "Titans" aka slow wannabe anime mechs but this is ok and dismissive.
"life of the title"
If that's not obvious code for "We have something planned" I don't know what is.
How many times did SF4 get re-released? And Ninja Gaiden 2?
Titanfall (insert random gibberish here)
Yeah, but...EA has said stuff like this before. Personally I'm much more excited for Destiny than Titanfall, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see it on PS4 eventually. It is EA, afterall.
@rjejr Titanfall: Fall of Wall Maria (For anyone who gets this, major props >.<)
@grenworthshero
Titanfall is one of the games along with Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive and Halo that has me looking to get an Xbox 1 by the end of 2014 so certainly I'd love to see it come to PS4 and yes this is EA, but MS is also involved and while some of MS' business tactics may be despicable it's not a company run by morons, something probably was signed to keep us from ever seeing Titanfall 1 on PS4. I'd love to be wrong about that though.
EA "we haven't forgotten about you SONY"....................... Yea remind me again what does won't forget you mean cuz obviously the morons at EA & MS don't know anything and just want to try and control everything in its path just because the PS4 is on an other level then the ****box one
@get2sammyb
Sony's got the right idea by building teams and creating properties that it owns in my opinion.
I agree, all Sony has to do is build up on that.
@cruches24
I'm not one to stand up for EA but one game going exclusive because MS probably ponied up a ridiculous sum of money doesn't really translate to EA 'forgetting' about PS4. It's not a Wii U situation here. Every other EA game is still coming to PS4 and supposedly PS4 gets the best looking version of its current premier shooter in Battlefield 4 which makes this even more puzzling/hilarious. Every company is in it for the money and EA may be more in for the money than any other that's why it's games hardly ever go even timed exclusive because it just costs the company potential $. I'd love to know what MS paid to make this happen because it's probably something absolutely insane.
I would like to play this. Ill just have to rap a towel round my 360 and play it that way ill stick to the ps4. Although it should be on both systems
@HandandInternet (seeing as it was edited) Men's dangly bits! Other way round everyone would be praising Sony so don't try that one. Anyway, the game looks the very definition of meh so I don't understand the fuss.
So what, wait until Titanfall is out, I predict a general rating around 7.0 and its definitely nothing special you should feel bad about your console choice about!
@rastamadeus This!
@gamer83
I don't think MS put up a really insane about cuz EA is known for tearing up it's own grandmother for just a couple of hundred of dollars as Sony creating it's own games and buying small little companies is very smart most of the best games come from Sony companies games like Battle Field I think it's out of question simply because is a repetitive game every year it's gradually the same just with a few tweaks and same goes for many big games like COD but when it comes to amazing games like GOW Beyond last of us these are from Sony companies and I feel that Sony should invest more into these companies these are what's Ganna make the difference Santa Monica is hands down my favorite studio alongside naughty dog and yea it's sad just like you say about battle field looking better on ps4 and rumors say cod is the same
@rastamadeus I hope you don't count me as everyone, pettiness is pettiness. If you're gonna act like a bitch you're gonna get called a bitch, it doesn't matter if they're my preferred console.
@HandandInternet Well next time Sony gazumps Microsoft we'll see won't we? All the whiners slagging Microsoft off will somehow think it's alright as it's Sony doing it. If you're the "bigger man" when that happens then fair enough.
@rastamadeus Next time? I can't think of a time when Sony paid a significant amount of money to prevent a game set for all systems to only publish on one or two.
@HandandInternet Happens all the time. There'll be games coming out for Xbox or Wii U that Sony will step in to help "finance," just like Nintendo did with Bayonetta 2. Take off your red tinted glasses and look at the bigger picture. It's common practice in every way of business and Sony aren't whiter than white, or even red, despite what you're tinted glasses may imply.
@rastamadeus I'm asking for an example, Sony helped fund BF3 which is why they got DLC one week in advance. They didn't ban the game for other consoles, also knowing E.A it would have to be a very significant sum of money to stop them from publishing it on the PS4/PS3, in fact more than each of the two platforms could have raked in. Here is where my issue is.
It's okay EA. We will just boycott your games. Simple as that.
