Entertainment applications are swiftly becoming as much a part of the console experience as games. As such, it’s exciting that Sony is continuing to expand into this space, announcing that worldwide radio service TuneIn is set to send a signal to the PlayStation 3 in North America this week and PlayStation Vita next week.
For those out of the loop, the download allows you to stream over 70,000 AM, FM, and Internet radio stations from around the globe. “At TuneIn, we’re constantly improving on our designs for phones, tablets, automobiles, and smart TVs, but even so, we can confidently say that our PlayStation app is one of the most visually stunning apps that we’ve ever developed,” senior designer Max Batt noted on the PlayStation Blog.
Despite the aesthetic improvements, the firm is promising that the service will also boast “rock-solid” response times due to the power of Sony's platforms. You’ll find the app under the ‘TV/Services’ section of the XMB later today, and in the appropriate subsection of the PlayStation Store on the Vita next week. Let us know if you’ll be tuning in via the comments section below.

This seems awesome for PS Vita! My only question: do you need internet to access local radio stations?
Guess it takes less to release stuff on US PSN than releasing Netflix on EU PSN
@darkhairwarrior Yeah, you'll need a connection to the Internet.
I can see this being nice for catching some internet radio casts when I'm not at my computer or whatever. I'm sure I'll download it and then tune it in to the best of Art Bell 24/7.
Is this only NA?
I hope this makes it to the EU. Maybe other audio services will follow suit too — I'm looking at you Spotify and Stitcher!
