What a difference a delay makes. DriveClub was the Smart Car of the PlayStation 4’s launch lineup, but it’s blossomed into a Bugatti Veyron over the past couple of months. The arcade racer was pushed into the ambiguous ‘Early 2014’ release bracket earlier in the year, and developer Evolution Studios has been compensating for the setback by deploying a slew of updated gameplay clips.
While the embedded video is little more than a montage of said footage, it reiterates just how stunning the arcade racer currently looks. The Runcorn-based developer has constructed a dynamic lighting and cloud system for the title, meaning that no two events will ever look the same. It does look better & better each time i see it But will we still get a PS Plus Version of it before it comes out for free?(if you got PS Plus that is, which i got yesterday the 3 Month one, not really a online gamer so not sure if i will have PS Plus forever in the future) Anyway i hope they still do the PS Plus version
The window cracking looked quite cool! I hope it comes out sooner rather than later!
@MrHilster Me too. I hope it's out in late January...
There is one thing that rings some bells! Why are those all diffirent video's pasted together?
There's no game announced for PS4 that looks better than Infamous Second Son IMO
@Epic Agree
@Sanquine @Epic I honestly think this gives it a run for its money. Completely different games and genres, though, so perhaps not fair to compare.
@get2sammyb Never said that it doesn't have value, I may not like racing games but I really see the potential and value of this game and finaly understand why everyone wants it. I never said it didn't look amazing I just said that in my opinion Infamous Second Son looks better.
I just really can't get enough Infamous so I may be a bit biased for that.
There are still many bits that need to fall into place for DriveClub and the extra time will certainly serve them well. What I will say about the graphics is that the colour and lighting is some of the most realistic I have ever seen in a game. They just need to get everything consistent and if they can pull off 60fps without downgrading the graphics it will be a huge deal.
Drive Club has gone from a game that I thought had a lot of promise, to one of the most anticipated titles of 2014 in my opinion. It just looks like one of the most amazing racers I've seen in a long time. It's not even just the graphics, looking at the gameplay you can just see the fun factor. I still have a hard time believing Sony will give that away for free with PS Plus even in a limited role. It just looks like a game you could play for hours on end, and so far in my opinion of the most complete games Drive Club and infamous are the two that look the most Next Gen of all consoles.
Might get me back into racers
@LDXD Yes. There will be a "Special PS+ Version" of the game when Driveclub launches. It has fewer tracks and cars than the full retail version, but all game modes and options are included. And as with every PS+ game, you can play it for as long as you want as long as you have a PS+ membership.
Also, you can buy the missing cars and tracks for a discounted price if you want the full game and not just the downgraded version.
BTT: The game looks better every time, indeed! Can't wait!
I wish it was out already. It looks amazing! Since it got pushed back I may end up preordering it...lol
This game looks more impressive each time I see a new video!
@LDXD You're welcome! See you online, I guess?
This is a racey winter with GT6 coming soon. I love the dynamic atmosphere idea, it makes for great replay value (in both senses of the word). I'm a teensy bit scared it'll be too arcadey, anyone know how sim it is?
It's being absolutely nit picky, but I'd love to see more realistic mirrors in a racer. Almost all look like an obvious alternate camera view.
Maybe I'm just used to how useless mirrors are on most motorcycles.
@LXDX Hum, hard decision. I guess it depends on how much you want the PS4. The PS4/Vita bundle sounds good, but I couldn't afford it, no matter the price. I was struggeling to afford the PS4 and Killzone as it is. Also, I just don't want to wait any longer, or I would've bought the PS4+Controller+Cam+Killzone bundle in a heartbeat, but that one isn't available at launch in Germany.
inFamous is one of my most anticipated games, so if I had the strength to wait, I'd probably get that one.
@nathanuc1988 Strange, right? I had to install extenders to see anything else but my shoulders.
I was pretty bummed this was missing the launch of the ps4, but I now believe this was vital to putting out a polished title. I can't wait to get behind the virtual wheel.
@Sanquine they are clips from the facebook page that are only a few seconds long.
It's definitely on my must buy list, that is for sure.
The clouds and the lighting are looking really, really good!
This looks gorgeous. Imagine what this game would be like with a virtual reality headset.
Still not a believer. Initially I thought Sony delayed this game because it felt it could sell PS4s on Killzone and the hype of having the 'premier' version of some multiplat games like Assassin's Creed IV and NBA 2K14, then use DriveClub to pad the PS4's 2014 schedule. But the fact is we're still only seeing short 10 second clips, and it's not hard to piece together 10 seconds of gameplay that looks really nice. We'll see how the game actually is, visually and from a gameplay perspective, when it comes out. It's pretty pathetic when a company that only makes racing games can't get one out the door for a major console launch when it had over two freaking years to make the damn thing. And that's why I don't particularly like this game's chances. Hope to be wrong because I really enjoy a good racing game and for the PS4 to keep the momentum from launch both this and inFamous: Second Son have to deliver big time.
@Gamer83 Same as my reaction. It's strange that we get a video with diffirent set pieces of 10 second video's
I think DriveClub will deliver just like the first MotorStorm did on the PS3, the only reason your only seeing 10-15 second clips off the PS4 is to show graphics improvements nothing else. The demo at Gamescom looked stunning taking into account Youtube quality and that was before the delay, also Evolution has worked on nothing else but the PS3 for the past 7 years. The PS3 architecture towards the PS4 is very different, i'm sure thay've had a lot of catching up to do. Myself really looking forwards for DriveClub especially after seeing the demo at Gamescom, never mind the improvements.
I love how clean the game looks. It's not trying to dazzle you by having scenery whip by at 400 miles an hour when the car is going 150. It seems like one of the few racers to come along in a while to just show off a real world experience, while still being detailed enough to be immersive. The in-car view is worlds better than it was before too, the wait has been well worth it.
