Kratos is hoping to cause carnage on a PlayStation Vita near you. Way back at GamesCom in August, Sony announced that the God of War Collection would be ripping the platform holder’s flagship handheld to pieces – but details have remained scanter than the abovementioned anti-hero’s non-existent patience. Fortunately, the fine folks over at IGN have uncovered an ESRB rating for the release, indicating that it’s very much on its way.
Unsurprisingly, the collection of PlayStation 2 classics obtained an ‘M for Mature’ rating, with the documentation referencing “blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, sexual content, and strong language” as the reasons behind the classification. The registration was submitted on 2nd December, suggesting that hopefully an early 2014 release is on the cards. Of course, Sony filed a similar paper for a Vita version of the Sly Cooper Collection eons ago, and that’s still yet to emerge.
Would you be tempted to replay Sony Santa Monica’s first two slaughter-‘em-ups again, or have you had your fill of gaming’s least popular skinhead? Are there any high-definition remakes that you’d particularly like to see make the jump to the Japanese giant’s diminutive device, or would you rather just play original content? I want the Sly Collection first! Where the hell did that go?
I'm fine with my ps3 hd versions as they play via remote play anyway
on topic I would rather have the Devil May Cry collection (including DMC4) on the vita than God of War and also Zone of the Enders HD
I would rather have The Sly Collection.
I would also rather have the Sly Cooper Collection, but I think I would play the God of War games again, too. Wouldn't mind Ratchet & Clank either, to be honest.
God of war was one of those games which passed me by, so looking forward to vhis on vita!
Well, the games will probably look good on VITA's gorgeous screen, but frankly I think these games have been rehashed enough already.
EDIT: I still think Sony would do well to reboot the franchise with a VITA exclusive. It may seem like a reckless move, but I'm thinking about how it could establish the VITA as a machine of its own, instead of a sidekick for the PS3/PS4. I'm also remembering how everyone thought it was strange to release numbered iterations of established franchises exclusively on a handheld when Dragon Quest IX came out for the Nintendo DS, and it proved to be a huge success. I can imagine VITA's flying out of the shelves if a VITA exclusive GoW as top-quality as III or Ascension was announced.
I would rather have some PSN games, like Lara Crof and the Guardian of Light, any of the Capcom fighting games, such as Street Fighter II HD Remix.
As for ports, I think would prefer the Prince of Persia: Sands of time Trilogy or ICO and Shadow of the Colossus collection... I'd like to play Persona 3 FES too, even if it was as a PS2 classic. P3P made me want a proper remake of it on VIta, though as the story is amazing.
It'll never happen. But I'd never have to share the tv if an elder scrolls came to vita =P
I'd love to play GOW2 on my psvita, love that game. GOW1 is great, until you get to the last dungeon. I just wanted it to end lol
I'd prefer an original GoW on Vita
I wonder if it includes origins as well.
As the others had said I'd prefer a Sly Cooper Collection instead.
@fchinaski A niche title like God Of War isn't anyway near the system seller you seem to think it it so an exclusive Vita game wouldn't do much to help the console bar get the dwindling GOW fanbase on board. Button badgers don't cause sales to go through the roof. For example GOW2 sold about 2.6m copies - while there was over 110 million PS2 consoles sold.
God of War also needs it's own exclusive game on the PS Vita. With features for the system and all.
castlevania lords of shadow collection as well as assassin's creed 2 collection
Already have the collections on ps3. I want a new god of war. I am sure its in the works but just had to say it.
Yes, I'll definitely be buying this whenever it comes out. I know people put down remakes alot, but keep in mind- for someone who's never played the game it's like a brand new release. Same goes for Final Fantasy X and X-2. I'm patiently waiting more word on the western Vita release date, hoping for early 2014. I'm excited for both these remakes because they'll both be like brand new releases to me.
If this is due for release on Vita, then we may yet see a Ratchet & Clank compilation.
I hear the GoW collection (GoW 1 and 2) cost $39.99, so I gonna wait on a price drop or it coming to PS+
