Rebellion’s gruesome but gratifying scope-‘em-up Sniper Elite III is still on target for a 2014 release, according to a brand new trailer that the company fired online earlier today. The clip shows protagonist Karl Fairburne scouting out the ancient city of Tobruk in Libya – and putting a bullet right in the eye socket of an unsuspecting troop.
According to the British developer, the trailer was created using a combination of cutscenes and gameplay. This has always been something of a budget brand, but it looks like the success of last year’s Sniper Elite V2 has allowed the studio to step things up in the visuals department – especially now that it’s working on the PlayStation 4.
Despite its obvious flaws, we were quite fond of the abovementioned PlayStation 3 reboot, so we’re rather looking forward to examining the sequel in finer detail. Are you a fan of the game’s grotesque X-Ray kill-cams, or do you find the disgusting death animations a bit much? Bust our balls in the comments section below.

Sniper Elite V2 was a flawed but enjoyable game, in my opinion. Nothing felt more satisfying than achieving a perfect kill shot at extreme range.
I've still yet to play a decent snipering game. This doesn't fill me with confidence
@RyoHazuki Sniper Elite V2 was a fantastic rental
I'm genuinely excited for this. Although I did get burned by buying V2 for $30 right before the dlc-included version came out for the same price. Wouldn't wanna pay $60 for vanilla really...
I really liked Sniper V2 and the realistic bullet physics, but I hope they improved on the HORRENDOUSLY bad enemy AI
