It’s been a tepid sale at best, but Sony’s long-running ’12 Deals of Christmas’ promotion in Europe is set to finish with a flourish. The platform holder has prepared two cracking deals to get you in the seasonal spirit, bringing the price of The Last of Us down to an impulse £19.99 and the critically acclaimed Persona 4 Golden to £14.99.
If you want to buy Naughty Dog’s survival horror opus with all of its DLC included, you’ll be able to pick up a Season Pass bundle for £29.99. Furthermore, PlayStation Plus members will secure an additional 10 per cent discount, making these offers even more tempting. What are you buying? This author’s heading back to school.

Alright, @ShogunRok - I'll buy Persona 4.
@get2sammyb get ready to shut down your life for a couple weeks. You won't put it down
@Cowboysfan-22 That's what worries me!
@get2sammyb @Cowboysfan-22 Ive had Persona 4 for the past 6 month n Ive yet to finish it (watched the anime recently tho so I know how things pad out. Kinda weak) Its nowhere near as gripping as Persona 3 was. If you loved 3 you might be not take to it like myself still a bargain at £14.99 tho
Nothing for me. Already got The Last Of Us, not interested in the other thing.
These sales never have anything for me - the stuff I'd be interested in I already have, the other stuff I'm not interested in even at discount prices.
But then I'm a wizened old gamer who knows what he likes. I rarely even try free stuff if it's something I'm not interested in.
@MadchesterManc to be honest I enjoyed P4 more than P3. I'm currently going through it for the third time. And yeah the anime doesn't do the game justice. It sucks that you watched it before finishing the game
@Cowboysfan-22 Not really. Im about 4/5 of the way through the game so all Ive missed out on is the final stretch. The anime does a decent enough job of covering the main arcs of the game so painting a bleak picture by saying it doesn't do the game justice is a tad exaggerated. It did save me the disapointment of finding out who the killer was by playing through the game. Ill always remember that as being one of the most annoying 'WTF' moments Ive seen in any form of entertainment
@get2sammyb AND SO IT BEGINS.
@MadchesterManc You really must be mad - P4G is one of the best games ever made! Blasphemy!
@get2sammyb One of the best games of the year! Enjoy it - it is well worth £14! I hope you have about 100hrs spare
@ZeD I don't. Serious questions for all of you that have played it, though - I know the soundtrack's great, but is this the type of game that you can play while listening to a podcast or something?
@get2sammyb You should be able to. There's some voice overs n the like but its always displayed on-screen with text too so you can always see what's going on
@get2sammyb there is quite a bit of grinding which you need to do to so I'd day yes to listening to something else. I use to watch TV when I was levelling up!
@MadchesterManc 100% agreed... Persona 3 (P) is so much better than 4 The Golden, on every level. Story, design, idea, music, style. Eh.... 4 has slightly better battle system, though.
@Cowboysfan-22 @ShogunRok You guys are just noobs and understand nothing =).
It's tempting, but I think I'll have to fight the tempatation to pick up P4G. Too many games on the backlog as it is, including P3P. Let's shift that first and we'll talk.
@Gemuarto Are you sure you were playing the right P4G?
Playing P3P at the minute. Dont like that you cant actually move your character around the town, just the dungeon. Not to fond of the way the Dungeon is just one big long dungeon either = Storys been meh so far from what ive played as well.
P4G is far superior for me, but maybe P3P will surprise me.
Great games on offer there but shame I already have them!
Still yet to find the time to start P4G yet though
@SuperSilverback The problem is your playing P3P, its good but it does suffer from the limitations of the PsP If you was playing P3 on Ps2 (P3 FES is the best version to grab) you'd find a game similar to how P4G plays. P3 is also more in line with the series SMT roots so you'll find it to be quite different with regards to story, style, difficulty etc to P4 which shed its SMT tag & roots (brought it more mainstream appeal tho so its up to you whether thats good or bad) Most people who go back from P4 to P3 have the same issues as you. The story does get better tho. It builds into quite an epic one too whereas P4 kinda stagnates in that department and never really builds on itself too much.
@SuperSilverback everything what @MadchesterManc told is 100% right =).
And P4 also has one big long dungeon, but it has more different walls on every 10 levels, than in P3. But I liked dark themed tower in P3 better than those funny walls from P4. Also in P3 there were story levels, while in P4 you have only one big long dungeon =). But with more funny walls, yeah =).
Persona is my most played game, clocked in 95 hours in two playthrough. Not even platz yet.
I got the season pass a few months ago for $80. Oh well...
To whichever oddball sent me a load of abuse over Twitter for referring to P4G as "the other thing" - cheers, I needed a laugh today! XD
Glad you enjoyed the game, though.
Meh.
@MadchesterManc I agree that P4 was made more for mainstream but that's because of the success of P3. P3 is a dark game and P4 is a more up-beat game. They may have similar styles and mechanics but they have different personalities. It's gonna be a different mood with P5 too so each game has its share of individuality. I loved P4 because there were times I found myself laughing out loud.
Just bought Persona 4 Golden. It better be at least half as good as the internet has been telling me since its release.
-_-
@naruball it's good no matter what you do and think about it. I don't like it as much as Persona 3, but already wasted 88 hours playing it =(. And it was fun all the time.
P4>P3 u_u
@Cowboysfan-22 That's the problem with P4. Atlus shed its SMT roots and in turn created a different beast that gained widespread mainstream acclaim at the expense of alienating some of its original SMT fanbase. It's no doubt a great game, I'm not disputing that, Its just not a great Persona game when placed with its predecessors. P5 is going to be interesting in seeing how the game will turn out but I doubt Atlus will return the series back to its SMT roots after tasting the honey with P4
