Christmas has passed, and the New Year is here – but that doesn't necessarily mean that the Push Square team has scaled back its PlayStation play time. Once again, we're bringing you the inside scoop on the gaming habits of our writers this weekend, but don't forget, this isn't a one-way affair – so feel free to let us know what you'll be playing by dropping us a comment, too.

In anticipation for the impending Australian Open, I've popped on my John McEnroe-esque headband and dived back into Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition like Dustin Brown. In my opinion, this is still one of the better PlayStation Vita titles, taking full advantage of all of its features and suiting the format down to a tee [Wrong sport – Ed]. I’ll also be painting Los Santos red (literally) in Grand Theft Auto V.

Tales of Xillia has just about taken over my mind by this point – I've put in almost 50 hours since I nabbed a copy for Christmas, and I've just been blown away by how endearing its cast is and how great of a JRPG it is in general. Needless to say, I'll be striving to put an end to the story this weekend. Although in truth, saying goodbye to my hilariously-outfitted friends will no doubt be a heart-wrenching experience.

After practically Plantinum-ing Tearaway last weekend on my Vita (only one Trophy to go – damn you Between the Pages) I've now decided to fully devote my time to Persona 4 Golden, a game which was recently awarded our esteemed Vita Game of the Year award. I'm absolutely hooked. I feel immediately on edge if it's raining or slightly foggy outside, and go to bed at night wondering if I should check the Midnight Channel. When I'm not worrying about saving my friends from a gruesome end, I'm considering whether to attend Basketball or Drama Club, and – oh drat – isn't today my shift at the Day Care Centre?

January is traditionally a slow month, but the dust has not settled on the best games from 2013, so I’ll shine a stage light on Puppeteer, and it can play a big part in my weekend. It's a PS3 game with a sprinkling of Kid Chameleon, a dash of Dynamite Headdy, and snippy-snappy Calibrus scissors. Pwaise 2D pantomime platformers boxed with instructions. Pwaise the ninja witch.

This weekend I will be grabbing my spear and heading out into the wilderness on a quest in search of food. Not literally, of course – even if that would be cool. Instead I will be under a blanket in the warmth of my house playing Don't Starve on the PlayStation 4.

With the craziness of the holidays finally out of the way, I will be playing Battlefield 4 on my PS4 all weekend. I already completed the campaign on Hard mode and am aiming to clean up all of the other campaign Trophies. Once that's done, I'll dive into the acclaimed multiplayer that I'm excited to experience. See you all on the 'battlefield'. Corny, I know.

Between work and the start of classes, I know that I won't have too much time for a little while. But I do know that, with the time that I have, I'll be spending as much of it as I can playing Don't Starve on PS4, because it looks great.
Kell Anderson, News Reporter
This weekend I'll be attempting to clean up my terrifyingly large backlog before we get back into the swing of things for 2014. In other words, I'll be endeavouring to finally – finally – beat Dragon's Crown for Vita, and, if I can find the time, perhaps trying to progress a little further in Need for Speed: Rivals. Oh, and Spelunky for Vita, of course – because I haven't stopped playing that game since it released.

Hopefully this weekend will be spent fighting my way up the ranks in Battlefield 4 multiplayer. Connectivity has been so hit and miss since launch that it's been a frustrating experience, with more time spent looking at menus than spraying virtual lead in actual games. The fact that I continue this abusive relationship speaks volumes for the enjoyment that I get when it does work. Though just when I think that it's fixed, it wipes my campaign progress for the third time, and refuses to let me connect to any servers. Battlefield 4, I just can't quit you – even though I know that I should.

Thanks to PlayStation Plus, I'm going to spend most of my time braving the harsh, cold world of Don't Starve this weekend – and I'll probably end up dying a lot. Other than that, I think a little bit of co-op in Borderlands 2 and Battlefield 4 multiplayer will be nice on the side as well.
Alright, enough of that – now it's your turn. Be it home console or handheld gaming, let us know what you'll be playing this weekend by leaving us a comment in the interactive white space below.

Note: I finished Tales of Xillia about an hour ago, and I thought it was bloody brilliant.
@ShogunRok new game plus option? 20 hours into Tales o Grace f myself. Still have the last 3rd of the map to check out
@SuperSilverback As far as I'm aware, all Tales games have a New Game Plus option, in which you can carry over various progress into a new playthrough. It usually works through a currency known as 'grade', which is awarded in different ways depending on the title in question.
In Xillia for example, you get grade based on how many titles you unlock by completing various in-game tasks (kill this many enemies, etc.) In Graces f I think that you get grade from doing well in battles.
Anyway, when you start a new game and use a completed save, you're usually introduced to the grade shop, where you can use your points to buy things like experience point multipliers, or you can use them to buy things like 'skill transfer' which carries over all of your learned skills into a new game.
@ShogunRok Yeah you get titles in Tales o Grace f. I got it on the psn sale. But it was the Knight edition so i got alot of dlc grade stuff with it like 2x SP, 300000 gald, plus 10 levels etc.
I'm finally going to sit down and finish Puppeteer. I still have a ways to go in Tomb Raider, Arkham Origins, Ni no Kuni and I've lost interest in completing GTA V.
Doing a trophy run on DmC: Devil May Cry while I wait for BioShock Infinite to hit US PS+ Tuesday. I just finished BioShock 1 and 2 and very much looking forward to playing Infinite.
I have had Hotline Miami downloaded for over a month and yet to play it. I might check it out as well.
I think I'm going to finaly finish Assassin's Creed IV (PS3) this weekend
Just finished The Last of Us. While I couldn't get into it for the first seven hours, the last 5 have been amazing and I really enjoyed it in the end. Not my personal GOTY for 2013 (Persona 4 Golden was that), or even PS3, but an outstanding experience nonetheless.
Now that I finished it, I''l probably play a little of The Wonderful 101 (WiiU), and Ace Attorney: Justice For All (DS). I'm also on my second playthrough of Persona 4 Golden and loving it even more.
Finally started playing Sleeping Dogs the other day (which I got from PS+ in Feb 2013). Finished it earlier today and now working my way through the Year Of the Snake DLC before moving on to Mafia II or Assassin's Creed 2.
@Splat You should definitely try out Hotline Miami. Was game if the year on any console for me last year, just incredible fun.
Binary Domain and Dmc will be my fix for this weekend bit I might play some Sonic Adventure 2 and get the 6 emblems I'm missing ti complete the game 100%.
I'm going through the Ratchet Future Trilogy, i just finished Tools of Destruction and Quest for Booty and I'll begin Crack in Time and if i have some time GT 6.
playing beyond two souls now after this hopefully would be y memories of celceta
Just bought Knack and am enjoying it quite a lot. Hope to hop into some Shadowfall multiplayer a bit too, and maybe some more LEGO Marvel.
Well, I'll pretty much be allowing The Elder Scrolls Online beta to take over my life, when I'm not busy, that is. In anticipation of the PS4 release, naturally
If I have some time spare I'll be logging into Battlefield 4 also.
Darksiders: I beat the 2nd one first, so I decided to buy the first and see what happened. Just defeated Silitha and got the last heart
Diablo 3: more leveling up of my characters, and playing co-op
So far this weekend, been playing Assassin's Creed 2, PES 2014 and Sly Racoon HD...
Might try to get an online game of Diablo 3 or Borderlands 2 going, that is if I don't decide to just veg out on the sofa playing Persona 4 Golden on the Vita...
DmC and then maybe a bit of super mario 3d world.
Super Mario Galaxy 1. My 11 yr. old son re-purchased it today - we had it 7 years ago when it first came out but he couldn't get very far back then. While I'm eating lunch he puts it into the Wii U - where all 4 of our saved Mario heads transferd over from our Wii were waiting for him - then he DELETED THEM ALL to start a new game, even though there were 2 empty planets just sitting there. I was up to 77 or 78 stars, and even though it's his game I'm fell inclined to get my stars back. I hate being mad at my kid, but he's so smart, and it was such a stupid thing to do.
I was supposed to say " I'm playing Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus, got it in the mail from Gamepfly on Thursday." but now I'm not. And besides, I'm a middle aged caucasian American male, and there are 4 NFL playoff games on this weekend, only so much time for gaming.
I haven't been playing anything yet.
I think i might try to Platinum Diablo 3 even though i am not even close to doing so. Still saving up to get the PS4 though, i honestly can't wait to get the system. I'm dying over here. Haha.
@rastamadeus Mafia II, what a great game, really wanted to replay it trough the holidays. Playing those winter chapters with the Christmas songs on the radio just feela awesome
I'm trying to get farther in my FO:NV hardcore mode save file. It's seriously so challenging I've still got lots of dlc to finish. I think I like NV's hardcore better than Skyrim with the Frostfall mod, which rules
Will likely play more of Fifa 14 and Madden while giving the Diablo 3 demo a spin.
Recently finished AC4, am currently working through Shadowfall, but have been distracted by Don't Starve, which is great. Damn winter.
I am starving for nextgen this week. But finished Army of Two: Devil's Cartel... Played with my friend and it was so much fun... OMG, Epic fun and stupidity!!! I really like co-op games.
Going to be mostly Vita games. Still working through Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate and I've been playing the heck out of Sonic Racing Transformed since I downloaded it when Sony made it free on Plus. Possibly my favorite 'kart' racer since the original Diddy Kong Racing.
Battlefield4 killzone shadowfall and COD on PS4.
I am almost burned out on shooters.I need to get NBA2k14 or fifa14 such a dry spell for new games.
Teearaway is finished first playthrough and lego marvel vita is done platinum. Tearaway is so fun that I'll try Platzing after I do other games
Playing ys celceta and Shin musou gundam (the best dinasti warrior esquae ever)
@Gamer83
That's what I've been telling people for a while now! Sonic Racing Transformed is where it's at- easily one of the best cart racers ever made and the only one I've ever played that beats Mario Kart at its' own game (though I will say, Mario Kart 8 looks like it's gonna top it). I first bought it on Wii U, and I got so hooked I played through the entire World Tour on HARD mode in a single weekend.
In fact, I loved it so much I bought it for 3DS, but was very disappointed in that version. Thought it'd be cool in 3D, but it had some serious issues. I usually don't care about framerates and all that jabber, but they were atrocious in the 3DS version, and you couldn't see that far ahead of you. So, I ordered the Vita version, and wow. That version is fantastic. It almost feels as good as playing the Wii U version off-screen on the gamepad, and that's quite the compliment.
Sonic Racing Transformed is also the perfect multiplayer game. The battle mode is garbage, but the racing is spot on. That's my only complaint about the game, is it needs a better battle mode.
PS4: Killzone Shadowfall
Wii U: Super Mario 3D World
Vita: Wipeout 2048
3DS: Bravely Default: Where the Fairy Flies DEMO
PC: Mega Man Unlimited
@JaxonH
I'm actually a little surprised how much I'm enjoying the game. I figured it'd be good because the first Sonic and All-stars racing was good but they kicked it up a notch with the sequel.
I'm playing Don't Starve, curtisy of Plus. Pretty good game so far.
I'm also playing Rune Factory 4, which is a great game.
I put a few minutes into Warframe since I felt line cutting people in half too.
I also would be playing Arkham Asylum, but my PS3 got the YLoD again after I fixed it.
Nothing much. Probably will play some Lego Marvel with my son and some Link Between Worlds on the 3DS.
I have been trying to save Don't Starve from my PS4 community. They hated it because there was no tutorial. So I am playing and streaming it and explaining what I do. Funny enough many gamers have changed their mind and found an enjoyable game where once was an annoying, WTH? game.
Last of Us and Persona 4 Golden. Lots of fun!
I've been juggling the final stretch of Guacamelee around a busy weekend on the go.
This is a good list which reminds me all the games I need to play. Tales of Xillia, Persona 4 Golden, Tearaway, Puppeteer. I haven't started any of those.
I play some Assassin's Creed and got done with all Templar Quest and conquered all the forts, so next most likely the Mayan stones.
Killzone Shadow Fall muitiplayer and just got Need for Speed Rivals so i need to try that out! Oh and downloaded Don't Starve.
I've been playing Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Knee Know Cocooney! Awesome game! Gotta res my mother
