As we build up to the release of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, we've been granted the perfect opportunity to look back on the crazy adventures of the pink-haired heroine and her often annoying gang. In a refreshing twist, however, this particular series recap isn't soaked in melodrama. Instead, the main plot points of the previous titles have been re-imagined in sprite form.
Okay, so we still don't really understand the baffling narrative of Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2, but we absolutely adore this attempt to explain it to us. From the text boxes to the remixed battle music, this retrospective is infinitely more charming than the games that it's actually based upon. Bathe yourself in the nostalgic video, and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

As cool as this video is, I can't help but think Square Enix has made a mistake releasing it - this is better than the actual games...
This is so awesome! Makes me miss FFVI, though
That theme in 16 bit is so awesome
Gone is the pretentiousness of the games, replaced by glorious nostalgia and lovely sprite work.
This was cool, but I still felt completely baffled by everything that was going on.
Haven't watched it because I'm at work, but it's cool! They should make a final fantasy game in this style and release it on 3ds and vita!
Edit: oh right. I forgot that I shouldn't watch the whole thing because I'm currently playing 13-2. But I watched the first half and I'd love another game like this.
If the FF XIII's were in this style I probably would have actually played them both through. I am not a huge fan of the new type of FF. When are they going to do a kick back to the 16 and 32 bit glory days?
Is this really coming out I would buy this day one?
