While Valentine's Day may only be around the corner, some of our writers are more interested in scaring themselves silly than snuggling up with a romantic visual novel. Assuming that you're not too busy trying to track down roses or crying in a corner, though, do let us know which games you'll be gorging on this weekend. Go on, you know that you want to.

Having been struck down with every disease known to man this week – and some that have just been discovered – I’ll be spending my weekend playing a game called ‘sleep’. At its core, this title involves lying on a soft mattress and closing your eyes. I can’t say that it’s especially difficult, but I’m hoping that the longevity’s good.

After a whole week of watching friends and enemies die under horrific circumstances in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc for our review, I'll be sitting in the corner of the office still trying to come to terms with what transpired within the walls of Hope's Peak Academy. If I'm feeling better, I might boot up the ol' Toukiden: The Age of Demons demo and max it out before slaying my way into the full release.

I still haven't put down Persona 4 Golden since I bought it, it's just that good. We're into the Summer months now at Inaba, and things are really heating up. Hopefully I can solve this mystery within the next few weeks and then be ready to jump head-first into more games like Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Ys: Memories of Celceta, and maybe Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster. Oh, and who can forget Muramasa: Rebirth? All in time for the Japanese release of Persona 4: Dancing All Night. Who says that the Vita has no games?

Back in 1989, I thought that adding dragons, magical pixies, and an axe wielding dwarf to the Double Dragon brawling genre was inspired in arcade Golden Axe. With Vanillaware's modern hand-drawn take on the fantasy fighting formula, I will definitely spend more time levelling up in Dragon's Crown on the Vita.

This weekend will involve a lot of running away in Outlast as I try and build up to completing the game on 'Insane' difficulty. I'll most definitely need a breather, and in light of Damien's recent article on Psygnosis, the Amiga will be getting a dust off. There will be disk changes aplenty and swearing galore as I work my way through the Shadow of the Beast Trilogy. Here's hoping that the upcoming PS4 reboot of the original game isn't quite as frustrating.

There are so many games to play and so little time. This weekend, though, I will be laid back drinking with my friends playing some Mario Party 5 [Mario who? - Ed]. Hopefully we will still be friends at the end of it. The rest of my time will be spent with my 3DS practically glued to my face as I attempt to put a dent into Bravely Default. Will I be brave or default, I have yet to decide. [And I'm not sure what site I'm reading anymore, Edwin - Ed]

This weekend I'll be continuing my quest to complete all of the console Metal Gear Solid games before the release of Ground Zeroes. So far I've snuck through Shadow Moses, bettered the big shell, prowled the Russian jungle, but now I find myself deep in South America attempting to rescue a famous geneticist. It's going to be a good weekend.

This Saturday I will spend it like many, regretting plenty of actions I don't ever remember making. Hopefully this will only be in The Wolf Among Us: Episode 2 - Smoke and Mirrors. After my heart has been ripped in two for the second time, I will be rectifying my PS3 cardinal sin by finally playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

Since I’ve already been having nightmares about playing Outlast, I thought I might as well find out this weekend if the dream matches the reality. If it does it’s going to mess up my sleep pattern for some time to come. What can I say? I scare easy. I’ll no doubt also be enjoying a few rounds of Battlefield 4, a game that I keep coming back to while I wait for Titanfall. [Titan-what? - Ed]

I plan to spend this weekend avoiding starvation and angry Beefalo in the incredibly charming Don't Starve. I'm completely hooked on beating my 26 day record and am three Trophies away from finishing it. Well, at least until the DLC drops later this year.

I'll be playing Outlast. Alone. In the dark. With noise cancelling headphones. And an extra change of clothes on hand. Just in case. And then once I've been thoroughly petrified by Red Barrels' handiwork, I'll move on to Episode Two of The Wolf Among Us.

I managed to acquire Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus last year and plan to play it soon, but I'm going to delve into Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty first, which was free with the game. I never took the chance to play Quest for Booty, so it'll be a nice re-introduction to mastering the series' core mechanics once again before trying Into the Nexus.

Honestly, this weekend I'll be diving back into LEGO Marvel Super Heroes on the PS4. I've been itching to jump back into the Marvel universe in block form and achieve that Platinum Trophy for some time. It's time to assemble my team, freefall off that Helicarrier, and score 100 per cent completion.

I'm getting married next Friday, so my weekend will mostly consist of sitting in relative's living rooms, or travelling between extremely expensive shops. Thankfully, the fine people that bought Surge Deluxe have absolutely thrashed me on the leaderboards, so I get to carry my Vita about with me, getting increasingly wound up that I can't get a better score.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on the PS4 has taken me by surprise. I was never a huge fan of this particular style of gameplay, but there's just something about Tomb Raider that I can't put down. On PS3, I'll be finishing up the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Valentine's quest line, and hopefully taking out some of the extreme mode primals to get a new bow for my Bard.

This weekend I will be summoning all of my courage in an attempt to complete a full play through of Outlast. It may take some nerves and many spare pairs of pants, but I will reach the end in many pieces.
Well that's another edition of 'WAYPTW' done, so now it's your turn to spill the beans. Will you be braving the dark and playing Outlast, too? Maybe you've got a date with your Vita planned? Whatever you're doing, we'd love to know in the comments section below. We're a bit weird like that.

Good luck for Friday, @matgrowcott! What's more romantic than a Valentine's Day wedding!?
Hey congratulations @matgrowcott, I hope you have a great day!
Well, I literally just got done with the NintendoLife Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Community Hunt. Took down a Savage Deviljho and Hallowed Jhen Moran, among other unsightly monsters lol.
But now I need to finish up Tomb Raider on PS4, since I'm pretty close to the end. After that, I'll be jumping back to some Zelda Windwaker HD on Wii U, or maybe I'll pick up where I left off in Link Between Worlds on 3DS. Either way, I'll be playing some Zelda after I'm done with Tomb Raider.
And at some point this weekend I might check out this strategy game on PSN store for Vita called Frozen Synapse Tactics. Looked pretty cool...
Congratulations, @matgrowcott.
I'm busy with GTA V at the moment and tomorrow after work I'll work on finishing Puppeteer and Tomb Raider.
Battlefield 4 , outlast, resogun, metro last light and any of the other awesome game I have from ps+!!!!
DBZ Battle of Z It's fun, but its much more suited for the Vita than the PS3 imo.
Good job, @matgrowcott! I believe that would be a gold trophy in the game of life.
@get2sammyb: Man that sucks I hope you feel better soon man.
For me I am afraid I wont be playing to many games this weekend or even for the next few weeks since I will be glued to the TV cause of the Winter Olympics.
I have gamers block, cant decide whether to start Bioshock Infinte or DmC. Played Brothers for awhile yesterday but got stuck trying to cross the ravine at the blocked door. Spent to day watching all 3 seasons of Comediens in Cars getting coffee and started season 3 of DBZ.
Good luck to Mat. Smart move getting married on VDay youll never forget your anniversary. We picked 10/15/00 b/c it seemed memorable, in a Schoolhouse Rock kind of way.
Get well Sammy.
I got the Far Cry 3 Ultimate Edition on sale off PSN for $17 and can't stop playing it.
Congrats! @MatGrowcott.
Get well soon! @get2sammyb
call of duty ghosts extinction. trying to prestige for my second time, getting close. and i'll try to get some outlast in. if I have the nerve. the game seriously stresses me out.
Congrats @matgrowcott! Personally I am playing though outlast and finishing off Shadowfall. Though I am really interested in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc for Vita. I may succumb...
@rjejr I couldn't get myself to try Bioshock today either. BF4 has a 100% xp bonus event (at least where I am) so I'll be grinding on that. Outlast lets you waste all your batteries before you even really start, so I'll be restarting that one. I still need to get my trophies for MGS4, even tho I played it so much before the patch that my case wore out heh MGO is gonna rule so hard on ps4
Tomb raider for me. Just need to complete the single player and reach level 60 in multiplayer. Then that platinum is mine!!
My PS3 broke a while ago (YLOD) meaning I've not played for ages.
Got a new one the other day and downloaded bioshock for free via ps plus
What an awesome game! Will be playing a lot of this over the weekend
I'm gaming on a budget these times. I have just finished uncharted3 on normal and have started it on hard. I had to wait nearly 3 years to get it on the cheap. The best news of all though is I bought GTA5 on amazon for £20 and I'll be playing it next w/end when its delivered.
3DS : bravely default
PlayStation vita: Random download ( need to think what to do with 40 euro) / Toukiden age of demons.
Was hoping to play Lego movie game with my daughter but not out yet so its the Kung Fu Panda game + the usual lego games. and on Vita uncharted and God of war
Congrats Matt!
So far, I've been on Surge Deluxe, OlliOlli and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds really hard this weekend.
Congratulations @matgrowcott! Have a most splendid day
Commiserations @get2sammyb get well soon
I'm replaying ACIV on PS4 and the Lighning Returns Final Fantasy XIII Demo in order to get ready for the game next week
@turtlelink it's fun but I'm having trouble on some missions such as SS3 Goku (I can do it but I can't get more than a B rank wich means I can't unlock any characters from it)
and some like Hirudegarn are almost impossible by yourself
@ZeD - If you stick with the Tomb Raider multiplayer long enough to reach level 60 you deserve more than a platinum.
Single player was awesome though.
Holy **** guys. It's like making puns is your first language and English is your second. Sorry I couldn't finish the article. After the 5th pun I was down for the count.
@Splat currently at level 35!
Starte the Weekend with Platinum Kud Converted Edition and then went on to finish the story of Assassin's Creed 4 and last curse Outlast
I haven't been playing games at all lately, been too busy marathoning The Vampire Diaries (go ahead and laugh, blame my mom lol).
I did just buy Red Dead Redemption (PS3) though, I might pop that into my PS3 for a few hours, as soon as it arrives in my mailbox.
@Toddler_Naruto I feel so sorry for you having to watch that. My missus watches this every week (I remote play to ease the pain).
But hey, everyone likes what they like
@Sanquine
Hey, how is that game? My collector's edition is still in the mail, but my brother told me in his opinion it's pretty run-of-the-mill (he played it all day yesterday and last night). Idk, I've never played a traditional old-school RPG so I really don't know what to expect, but from what he was saying I might shouldn't get my hopes up too much. Perhaps give Final Fantasy X Vita a go instead (I've never played it before)? You've played both games...what do you think?
@Fire-and-Water Sorry you didn't like it. Please can you not swear, though. Thank you.
@ZeD I'm actually kinda liking Vampire Diaries...though it's still not one of my top 10 current fave tv shows though.
Hopefully I'll be caught up before next weekend, I seriously need to get back to playing video games (as well as watching my own darn shows lol).
@JaxonH Hey Jaxon, you mean bravely default? It's a great game if you love traditional JRPG. Very story driven game and graphics wise it's a pretty 3ds game. If you were talking about Toukiden :age of demons that is more a hunting game similar like monster hunter!
@JaxonH Never played FF X before. maybe i mentioned it. And if i played it was ages ago...(PS2 era). Which reminds me got to play rogue galaxy sometime soon
Trophy hunting in tomb raider, outlast(cause it's free!!!) and killzone shadow fall MP.
Trying to get through Outlast but I'm growing tired of it because of the complete lack of combat. I appreciate what the developers went for here, it's a welcome change from what RE, Dead Space, etc have become, but it would be cool to use led pipes or boards or some kind of objects in the environment to hold off enemies. Maybe that happens later in the game and I'm just not far enough in yet. Still a good game but could've been even better with some combat options.
@Superconsole @Slapshot @Ginkgo @Splat @rjejr @sajoey @BornOfEvil @ShogunRok @get2sammyb
Thanks all! In the end, the weekend wasn't too bad - even got some Batman: Arkham Origins in. I've given up on Surge Deluxe, too many talented people.
@charlesnarles
MGS 4 is a great trophy hunting game, up to a point. I was totally ready to do a Big Boss run, until I realized I'd also have a to a 40 hour+ playthrough where you have to die 60(?) times.
Decided to leave it in the end.
@MatGrowcott Yeah, that's probably for the best. That game is nuts. How's the wedding coming along?
@sajoey
Really well thanks. It's only a small wedding, really intimate with only 30 or so people invited. We're home-making everything, from cakes to decorations.
My main job as groom is to stop my wife-to-be searching Google and getting more ideas.
@MatGrowcott That's an even better plan than calling it quits on MGS4!
