Forget about the fight between the Helghast and the ISA, as the so-called console war is undeniably the biggest brawl in gaming. And in a strange twist of fate, Sony Pictures could be producing a movie inspired by the neverending skirmish, charting SEGA’s assault on Nintendo in the early to mid 1990s. We don’t know about you, but we’re already booking our tickets.

The forthcoming flick is supposedly based upon Blake Harris’ "behind-the-scenes business thriller", er, Console Wars, which “draws upon hundreds of interviews to create the first full account” of the colossal corporate battle. The film will apparently be written and directed by Superbad scribes Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, with the abovementioned author serving as an executive producer.

While specific details are hazy, proceedings appear to have been in the works for some time, as the Japanese giant registered a slew of related domain names way back in 2012. Still, assuming that it does actually happen, we reckon that the makers should get Michael Bay involved – after all, who else would be able to accurately depict the brutal battle between Mode 7 and Blast Processing?
