Eidos Montreal’s long awaited Thief reboot may have been caught red handed from a critical perspective, but it's still managed to steal a place at the top of the UK sales charts. The title debuted with the second-best week one sales of the year thus far, with the PlayStation 4 iteration outselling its Xbox One counterpart.
Elsewhere, fresh from its crusade at the top of best-sellers list, The LEGO Movie Videogame slipped into second, while FIFA 14 dribbled into third. Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 fired into fifth and sixth respectively, as LEGO Marvel Super Heroes punched seventh. PlayStation 3 sequel Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 entered in tenth, while Tales of Symphonia: Chronicles arrived in 13th.
With stock still not readily available in the region, PS4 software sales took a tumble out of the charts entirely, with Killzone: Shadow Fall and Knack nowhere to be found. The manufacturer will need to start thinking about rectifying this issue soon – especially with a cheaper Xbox One bundle lingering on the horizon.

This is one of those times, which is happening too often lately, where i completely disagree with the more negative reviews on this game.
I am having an absolute blast with it. It is more akin to the old-school than i originally thought and that is a very good thing. It is total, unedited stealth.....I question whether the modern ways of games like Dishonored (as good as it is) have affected the view on games like this which are stripped down, to-the-bones sneaking. No powers.
Anyway, Thief is a good game. Few niggles here and there, but it is a very deep experience.
can you post the entire top twenty or forty in the post? even the source has no list of the top ten/twenty /fourty
@divinelite We're actually not allowed. You can see the full list by hovering over 'Software' and selecting 'UK Software' -> 'Latest Charts'.
@get2sammyb oh okay, so that's the reason it's not listed
I am surprised thief is doing well considering all the negative reviews it got. reviewers seem very dissapointed by the game. I will probably play it later, though.
@goonow I think critics expected more powers, like @3rdEyeMind said. It's pretty damn hard on the hardest setting (there's a totally customizable difficulty option too, like no "focus ability" whatever that is. Haven't used it lol) I'm trying a TLOU survivor playthru and similarly, there's no listen mode(!) which makes it a much more "real" experience, IMO. I identify much more strongly with a protagonist without supernatural abilities than those with, so Thief gives me almost no sense of fourth-wall-breakage, which is a big pet peeve of mine. I'm glad and not surprised that its selling well
