One of the biggest additions to inFAMOUS 2 was its LittleBigPlanet inspired user generated content feature. This allowed you to create custom missions, stories, and platforming challenges within the sandbox setting of New Marais, which you could then share with friends and strangers within the game. While many of these custom creations lacked the refinement of Sucker Punch’s own concoctions, there were some decent objectives if you took the time to look.
Sadly, despite appearing in digital download inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood, the do-it-yourself toolset won’t be making a return in PlayStation 4 sequel inFAMOUS: Second Son. We recently sat down with brand development director Ken Schramm to find out why. “We're making a new game with a new hero and story, so we had to concentrate on that and getting the story right,” he said. “We had to make a conscious decision that user generated content wasn't going to be in this game.”
While you won’t be engaging in any ‘Play Create Share’ action during the course of protagonist Delsin Rowe’s adventure, then, the developer has confirmed that more content is in the pipeline – even if it’s not quite ready to discuss specifics at this moment in time. “There will be some extra content,” Schramm explained, responding to reports by a Polish website published earlier in the month. “We didn't define what. All we said is that there's going to be extra content coming down the line.”
What sort of extra content would you like to see added to the studio’s impending escapade? Are you disappointed that you won’t be able to create any custom missions in the game? Cough up a comment in the space below.

I thought that part of the game wasn't worth spending time on. I did it only for the trophies. They tried something new and it didn't work. And they moved on - smart move.
Me never liked and played that part of game in infamous 2.
The idea was great, but as stated above by other comments it really didn't work that well. I hope they abandon the idea and maybe move towards making a game with Co-op Conduits. That would be a lot of fun.
After playing the demo in London I get the impression anything they create will be pure gold. Even with the "tail the van" mission (which Mr Potter failed to complete after about 7 attempts) being present it just seems like everything is really polished and thought out. I doubt I'll miss a single bit of DLC for this!
It wouldn't interest me.
I'm fine with that. I just want a system of infinite side missions, and that stupid territory system gone. (Which I think is returning sadly, getting rid of the enemies made completing the side missions have the game punish you for completing them if you ask me. Always made avoid doing them.)
I used the user created part in inFamous 2 a few times. It was cool but I rarely used that portion.
I hate user generated content anyways. I'm glad it's not in the game tbh. There's a reason the developers are, well, developers. They know how to make a fun game. Most of us don't, and the few that can create something worthwhile only have a limited toolset.
Well, 5 more days folks...
So maybe this is a little bit off topic but do you have to play Infamous 1 to play this new Infamous? Or is it a completely new story and nothing to do with the old Infamous?
@JaxonH Yea 5 more days for me to pick up the PS4 bundle.. 8P
@Remixora It's a completely new story with a new setting and new protagonists so it stands very well on its own. Hence, why it's also not called inFamous 3.
I didn't play any of the previous games either and I don't have a PS4, but that's what I've read.
There might be a couple of references to the events in the previous games, though.
I dont think I played any of these in 2, its really a story driven game so it doesnt seem neccassary. That said, I suppose you could say LBP is story driven as well but some of those user created levels were awesome. Some of the RPG series were even better than those that came with the game. I wont miss them playing 2nd Son.
@Cyrso Thanks bro.
@Jaz007 How would infinite side-missions work, but more importantly why would you want them to never end?
@Toddler_Naruto They could make so there are randomly generated side-mission that keep appearing.
I want infinite side-missions because I want there always to be something to do in the world. It would have the potential to greatest increase the amount of time one would be able to put into the game. I really love inFamous, and I really don't want to run out of things to do in the game. If they do run out, it could end up being one of my biggest problems with the games.
@Jaz007 As much as I love inFAMOUS, I usually stop playing the games after beating the final bosses. I'm not one of those fans that hunts down all of the blast shards or tries to get all powers and beat all side missions.
