Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy XV may have originally been intended for the PlayStation 3, but the sequel is now powering ahead as a PlayStation 4 game. While there’s no date attached to the gorgeous role-playing release just yet, publisher Square Enix claims that it’s making good progress. And those assertions have been evidenced by the Japanese firm, as it’s added a little more information to the title’s official PlayStation website page.

The blurb begins by outlining the combat system. “The battles featured in Final Fantasy XV have evolved greatly from the previous games of the series, as it’s created as an action game,” reads the text, as translated by DualShockers. “The game switches seamlessly from the field to battle, and the combat situation evolves rapidly. It goes on quickly with a sense of full realism.” We’re not sure that giant demons are overly realistic, but we get what the company means.

The documentation adds that you can fight as multiple warriors, and not just the impossibly well groomed protagonist, Noctis. “It’s possible to switch to other characters,” the content continues. “Furthermore, it’s also possible to perform a combination attack with a companion while enjoying the dynamic effect.” There’s a good chance that we’ve already seen one of these combos, as last year’s trailer showed the hero teaming up with a gun-toting accomplice to take down a foe.

The publisher claims that this all culminates in “stylish action”, which was certainly the impression that we got from the release’s re-reveal. Still, it’s been almost a year since the title’s last official footage was deployed, so we’re secretly hoping that E3 brings another clip of the impending game.
