In an effort to clear out my backlog, I’ve decided that I need to stop committing myself to one game at a time. As such, I’m playing a bit of everything at the moment – and I’m enjoying the variety. To be honest, I’ll probably spend most of my weekend with Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom, as I’m on review duty – but I’m also enjoying PES 2014: Pro Evolution Soccer, Street Fighter X Tekken, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which I really should have started a long time ago.

Being a fan of just about anything that includes mechs and space, this weekend will be taken up quite nicely by Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut on the PlayStation 4. Having not played a space combat game for about nine years, I'd wager that my first few hours with the release won't be particularly enjoyable ones, but I'm more than willing to adapt so that I can become the ace pilot that I was born to be. Neeeaaaaw! Pew pew!

I've got a really bad case of the 'collect all of the things', and I'm itching to exercise these demons in miserable downtrodden city simulator inFAMOUS: Second Son. When I first popped the disc in a couple of days ago, I ended up playing for 12 hours straight, but only managed to complete a paltry four story missions. For you see, what had consumed me so thoroughly was the collection of Blast Shards and the liberation of the city's various districts. So, before I've even earned Fetch's sky writing ability, I possess a stack of some 50 Blast Shards and a 70 per cent stake of control in Seattle. The obsessive collectors are in control now, DUP. We're here.

I've always considered side-scrolling run-and-gun games to have a retro magnetism – for example, I've played Midnight Resistance, Contra III: The Alien Wars, and Metal Slug countless times. Unsurprisingly for a developer that’s partly made up of the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World team, Tribute Games' pixel 2D art style in Mercenary Kings is meticulously drawn, so I’ll reserve some of my Sunday as a celebration of sprites.

My gaming this weekend will be dominated by rage, as my shooting abilities will be seriously tested in Mercenary Kings. I'll also be trying to complete the fiendish Guacamelee in a futile attempt to tackle my PlayStation Vita pile of shame.

This weekend is going to be a bit slow seeing as inFAMOUS: Second Son has already been Platinumed. So like any good Trophy hunter does with his free time, I will be delving back into the world of Ys: Memories of Celceta as I attempt to nab the top trinket. My Vita hasn’t had too much play time recently, so it will be nice to go back to a game that I really enjoyed the first time through.

My plans for this weekend mostly consist of diving headfirst into Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, which, from what I can gather, should have me covered for about the first hour. After that, I'll probably play some more inFAMOUS: Second Son, or perhaps return to the seven seas in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

After recently picking up New Little Kings Story, it has quickly escalated to an addiction. Saving a kingdom from the dark lord with an army dressed in bunny girl outfits has never been so rewarding. To top off my weekend, I’ll be replaying Journey.

After already having my avatar probed and grossed out in earlier play sessions, this weekend I'll be returning to South Park: The Stick of Truth as I attempt to remove another game from my ever growing backlog. I also want to at least make a start on Dark Souls II as I'm not sure how much longer I can keep sticking my fingers in my ears in an attempt to avoid spoilers whenever it comes up in conversation.

I’ve been neglecting games in favour of massive amounts of course work lately, but luckily this weekend I may have enough time to enjoy myself. How? Well, I’m going to start by trying out Mercenary Kings, which I’m definitely interested in, and I think I might try and finish the third Sly Cooper game, which I started a while back but haven’t finished yet.

I’m currently pondering whether or not I should buy my way into Tamriel with The Elder Scrolls Online, but in all likelihood, I’ll probably just continue my adventures in inFAMOUS: Second Son and Dark Souls II instead. I also might try to do some more of the side missions in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

Surprise! I'll be spending my weekend enjoying Final Fantasy XIV’s second beta phase on the PS4. As a little Push Square secret, I'll probably even load it up via Remote Play to finish off a few quests while at work. If all goes according to plan, my free time and I will challenge the almighty Leviathan Extreme Mode.

This weekend I’ll be keeping to the shadows in an attempt to steal as much loot as possible in Thief on the PS4. I’ll also be returning to Minecraft on the PlayStation 3, as there has been a recent update with lots of lovely goodies.

Alright you lot, quit your jibber-jabber – it’s time for the readers to have a go. What’s keeping you occupied this weekend? Let us know in the comments section below.
