Be there or be square

There have been some wacky releases on the PlayStation 4 over the past six months, but VizionEck may just be the strangest of them all. Developed by, er, VizionEck, the bonkers first-person shooter sees you assume the role of a black-and-white block named a ranger. This cube starts out brightly coloured, but begins to fade into the background as you gradually lose health, making you harder to spot.

That’s not all, though. While most games reward you when you adopt an aerial advantage, this monochrome affair wants to see how low you can go. You’ll be able to charge up a shield as you play, and deploying it will protect you from attacks coming from above your greyscale avatar. Meanwhile, to prevent spawn camping, you’ll start out in a room filled with similar squares. Stay perfectly still, and no one will know that you're even there.

Apparently, the embedded trailer hints at many additional gameplay mechanics, but it just looks like fuel for the anti-indie crowd to us. Seriously, go and read the YouTube comments attached to this clip, and then quietly weep.
