It may feel like a distant memory now, but Sony’s big E3 2014 press conference only occurred a few days ago. Admittedly, we’ve been tardier than a London bus when it comes to getting a quality recap up, but, hey, it’s been a busy few days. A small delay is better than a big one, though, so just in case you missed anything from this year’s PlayStation media briefing, we’ve collated all of the biggest headlines below.
We’ve also embedded the show in its entirety, just in case you weren’t able to watch the thing live. Remember to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more videos, and don’t forget to keep checking back to the main site over the coming days as we post more reaction to this week’s Los Angeles event.

I don't even want to be reminded of this years E3 other then LBP3 and other games. Everytime I remember E3 2014, I will remember the conference that put me to sleep thanks to Shawn layden. o.O LOL
When I read the title for this, I thought the article was asking "What the hell happened in this conference!?" Definitely not a fan.
I just hope they improve a lot for next year.
I wanted some more exclusives that were intriguing. They've got nothing to prompt me to get a PS4 this year.
Yeah, not a great year. I saw only one thing that would make me consider buying a PS4 and that was No Man's Sky. Is it worth spending over 400 bucks? No.
Guess I'm the only one on this thread who liked Sony's conference aside from Shawn layden it was a good conference
Bloodborne, Little Big Planet 3, The Order 1886, and Uncharted 4 A Thief's End did it for me.

With Nintendo Life cross over and that being the biggest of the three website, it's natural there's going to be some displeasures. Every year it's 'Sony was miserable, Nintendo was awesome.' I did think Nintendo was legit awesome this year but on the sheer number of awesome third party games alone Sony's was far from miserable. Would've liked some bigger exclusives revealed besides Let it Die or LBP 3 but Bloodborne looks cool as does Uncharted. Wish Insomniac had dropped in to talk about the Ratchet & Clank remake tough.
@Gamer83 Actually, as a Nintendo fan, you wouldn't find many that though the 2012 and 2013 E3 shows from Nintendo were that great. They were pretty lackluster.
@Gamer83 I also thought Nintendo's event was awesome they got me this year now i want a WiiU also would've have liked some bigger reveals my only big disappointment was no last guardian aside from that and Shawn layden it was a good show gotta admit not a souls fan i didn't think Project Beast..aka Bloodborne would excite me but it did definitely keeping my eye on that one
@Trikeboy Yup i agree Nintendo's shows though 2012 and 2013 were pretty lackluster
@AeroZeppelin
Yeah, I'm not a Souls fan either, and probably won't be getting Bloodborne but it does look cool. I wish I could get into From Software's games.
Devil's Third was surprisingly what got me at Nintendo's show, I would've thought MS would've snagged that up quickly since it's from Itagaki but MS' loss, Nintendo's gain. That looked badass. The new Zelda also seems to be moving in a different direction like they've been talking about for a while now but I still need to see that come to fruition first. The initial talk about Skyward Sword was 'it's different' and it really wasn't that different, great game for sure but still very familiar. If this Zelda is actually more open and non-linear though, I could really see myself getting into it. That's part of why I loved A Link Between Worlds so much, it let you attack the game how you wanted but was also still very much 'Zelda.'
@Trikeboy
I remember seeing more positivity than negativity from the Nintendo fanbase for E3 2013. Of course it was easy given what MS did to say anything was good compared to that, because it's true. MS 2013 made Sony 2006 and Nintendo 2008 seem like gold.
@Demi_God I actually thought that Shawn Layden (were his parents really that into alternate spellings) started off ok. Although I love new game announcements/trailers, I do also want to know what is happening with hardware, play station now etc. He did start to lose me by the end though.
The Powers comic section was the real low point for me though. Its cool and all, but needed 10 secs not 10 mins. I notice that Sammy even managed to forget it in his summary. Colour me not surprised.
Well, Nintendo 2013 was good for Wii U owners but it did very little to entice people who didn't buy it at launch. That is exactly what Sony and Microsoft failed to do this year actually. It was a show for the current owners, not to get new owners. 2013 was a disaster for MS. Everything they said upset gamers. then Sony comes along and says almost the exact opposite of everything MS said. People rode on that hype. If MS hadn't made a huge balls up, I don't think Nintendo would have been as successful.
This year Nintendo did it right. It spoke to the undecided and "on the fence" gamers and got them excited. There was a quote on the IGN after talk where one of the guys said "It's getting hard to ignore Wii U". I know so many people who were desperate to buy Wii U on the second day of E3 because of their presentation. The Sony and MS show didn't really have the same effect for the undecided and "on the fence" gamers.
With hindsight bloodborne was the bomb that made it worth it. When you think of it what a coup that it was on demo after the show. Just need to skip the bit with the sleeping talking guy (god he really spoiled it). Would have like more Sony games but I think we may see a couple of reveal in a few weeks hopefully
I agree, everything about Nintendo's E3 was Fiya. Sony did good, just stale announcements and super slow pacing.
