Playdek is pretty prolific when it comes to tabletop game conversions on iOS. The San Diego studio has released plenty of titles across Apple's range of iPhones and iPads, and now it's branching out onto the PlayStation Vita. Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer is a popular deck building game, which the firm has already converted for iOS, and is now on its way to Sony's system as well.
The main draw here for keenly competitive players is that online multiplayer is cross-platform, so Vita owners will be able to battle their Apple-leaning chums. Hooray for diversity! Playdek has also been keen to boast of its "incredible artificial intelligence for solo play", but then it would say that. Our knowledge of deck building games is shaky at best, so what do you guys think? Is this a Vita game to look forward to? Lay your thoughts on the table in the comments section below.

Believe in the heart of the cards.
Huh?
This is easily the best card game I've ever played. I don't think I'll double dip, though. Spent over $20 on the iPad version already after the expansions...
Just so everyone knows: This is a deck builder. It's less about "Pay to win" and more about resource management. To keep it short, there's a main pool of cards everyone can take from (only 7 are available at a time, including monster cards that require an attack resource, which give special rewards, except for 3 resource-related cards that are always available) and everyone starts with the same 10 cards - 8 apprentices (mana cards for gaining cards, including better mana cards) and two militia cards (for your attack). The goal is to build your deck from pool (whilst also gaining points from a point pool) and whoever has the most points + best cards (denoted by a little symbol in the corner of each card) wins the game. It's a whole different ball game from a TCG and I love it.
Also, the AI can be stupid. Unless I'm just really good. I've only played two online games and won both, so there's a possibility...
I like deck building games played abit of pokemom and yugio in my youth couldnt find any other card games i could really get into,tryed magic it was ok and was a good challange but i got bored after a week or so. Wonder what this will be like? I also like if thers a story behind each card and the character on it to add a bit more depth.
Brucie!
I don't think that's a screenshot from the game
@keyser_soze Those games you mentioned are Trading Card Games, which is actually very different from a deck builder like Ascension. See my post above.
@CanisWolfred
I can see what you meen! So u dont have your own deck and u dont get rewarded with cards then when you win?
Interesting...
@keyser_soze No, you use your mana cards to "buy" cards, which you use to build a deck, which each do their own things and each have their own point values once the main point pool has been emptied (which you earn by utilizing your deck - destroying monster cards (including the infinitely respawning Heretic, which is special), playing certain cards, or by earning trophies (depending on the rules)), then the point values of each deck as well as the points earned from the pool as totalled. Whoever has the most points wins. Then all the cards go back into the main deck and you start from scratch yet again.
@CanisWolfred
Sounds pritty 😎 thanks for The info
