Journey, arguably the greatest digital download of the PlayStation 3 era, will grace its presence on the PlayStation 4, platform holder Sony has announced. The reveal was leaked earlier in the month, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting. Unsurprisingly, the title will run in 1080p on the next-gen platform, which is sure to make it look even prettier than ever before.
Even better, while it’s not mentioned in the PlayStation Blog post, the YouTube video description suggests that this will be cross-buy, which is unexpected. If accurate, this means that if you already own the game on the PS3, you’ll be able to download the next-gen release for free later this year. Pretty awesome, huh?
You can check out the port’s first trailer below – and bask in Austin Wintory’s outstanding audio soundscape in the process. Are you looking forward to playing this again? Let us know in the comments section below.

This is all I wanted to hear. Hyped!
Zero interest. 1080p adds nothing to the gameplay.
Over the moon about this. Rise of the Tomb Raider goes Xbox exclusive but hey, it's alright, another remaster is on the way. Thank you Lord Sony.
@Gamer83 Haha, thought you'd be happy.
@get2sammyb
I'm just thrilled.
@voodoo341 Exactly, 1080p doesn't change a thing about the game...
@Gamer83 but aren't you thrilled they're talking about this now instead of at the event?
@ztpayne7
Sure why not? They probably have plenty of new games like this that I don't give a damn about to announce at the show...
@Gamer83 haha. I'm just saying that since Microsoft had the opportunity to announce a reveal at a conference that it isn't completely fair to judge it against sony's past. Let's judge it against an equal conference on the same day.
Looks like you guys got started, keep it up.
I can't bother anymore.
@ztpayne7
I get what you're saying, and I've got some slight hopes that Sony can impress me. Gonna be tough to top that Rise of the Tomb Raider announcement though. In the year to come I'm sure there will be people who find a way to downplay it, but I still think it's a nice coup for MS. I'm hoping Sony answers with something. Maybe fund RE 7 and have some top programmers work closely with guys at Capcom so we get a good RE game again? Yeah, pipe dream I know but it would be nice.
Follow this up with Unfinished Swan running in 1080p (even though most of the game is black and white) and Microsoft will be in danger of cleaning the floor with them.
is everyone forgetting the fact that it's FREE if you already have it?
The really important point (besides cross-buy) is that the team is targeting 60FPS. Flower really feels like a different experience on PS4 specifically because it runs at twice the framerate.
I had kinda hope for PS Vita version also, so I could 100% it 3 times but, then again they don't make any money from people who already own the game, due to Cross Buy
