Destiny is approaching faster than a comet strapped to James Bond’s complete collection of jet packs. In fact, with the title due out ‘officially’ tomorrow, your copy may have already been delivered by an overzealous postie or courier. However, if you’re still sitting on the fence, you’ll have to wait a little while longer to find out which field you’re going to make your bed and lie in – as reviews for the release won’t be ready to go until later in the week.
Well, not proper ones anyway. For those unfamiliar with the super secret critical operation occurring behind-the-scenes, we don’t actually have access to the title’s servers yet. That means that, while the embargo for Bungie’s next-gen shooter lifts tomorrow, we’ll have had less than one day with the game in order to write a thorough appraisal. The same is true of other publications, meaning that you shouldn’t put your faith in anything that the particularly early birds write.
And that’s a sentiment that’s shared by the developer, too. “We fully anticipate seeing day one reviews from folks who decide to kick the tires, but don’t have the time or patience to take our ride for a nice, long road trip,” community manager Deej wrote on the studio’s official site. “Some of you might wait to pick up a copy until you read the final verdict from your most trusted review house. We’re okay with that.”
As you know, the ambitious title is designed around public spaces which are populated by thousands of players, and the company couldn’t find a way to replicate that experience for the media. As a result, we’ll be reviewing the release alongside you. “On day one, you’ll be rubbing elbows with the pageant judges, so look sharp,” continued the studio spokesperson. Actually, it’s probably us that should be looking sharp, huh?

I'll wait for reviews, the beta had some promising/weak moments.
I don't need the reviews, the beta was good enough. I am interested to see how reviews will be though. Especially from the Xbox-biased sources.
I don't like the fact that they didn't have the servers up for reviewers in time to have proper reviews for release, just reeks trying to gain sales from eager people.
I have a dull feeling that the beta was actually about 50% or more of the actual game already.
As I found the Halo franchise pretty boring and bland, I'm definitely waiting for reviews and maybe a price drop before I bite...
Well im looking forward to a room of friends, ps4s and tvs for a 2 day gaming marathon. Had fun with the beta.
I had a blast with the beta and my pre-order is fully paid at gamestop. Can't wait till tomorrow.
I avoided beta to escape spoilers. But my mates loved every bit of it and have pre-ordered.
It's basically following the structure of an MMO so I expect most of my favorite reviewers to take their time. I'm not really following this game after my time with the beta though
@Jazzer94 as they said, the game is based around playing in a largely populated world. There are not enough reviewers to make the world anything less than a ghost town, so any review won't actually be reviewing the game as it will be played at launch.
Its going to be ruff keeping the servers from crashing and with everyone all trying to do the same quest a nightmare. I think i will just do some random killing and start the quest story line in a day or two..
I hate people complaining that we have already seen 50% of the game! We have not even seen close to that! Sure we saw the full campaign on Earth and ONE mission on the moon. So technically we have seen a little over 25% of the campaign alone. But the replayability is so high! You can play the campaign as a different class, different weapons, etc. Not to mention the multiplayer (both cooperative and competitive) was amazing in the Beta alone. Be happy they let us play the Beta for free.
Enjoyed the alpha and the beta, but still waiting for reviews before I buy, to find out just how much more there is to the game. I have a sneaking suspicion is not going to be a game of the epic scale many are expecting, and that we may have to buy a raft of DLC before we get the game we were promised. The review embargo has also made me dubious, as such things are rarely a good sign.
I'm also one of those who never rated Halo, so Bungie aren't a dev whose games I will buy blindly.
I wait for the reviews and will watch the forums the next 2 weeks. Not sure about this game, way to much hype and that can break a game.
Long as the game is long I'll get it
