With veteran Square Enix artist Tetsuya Nomura now in charge of Kingdom Hearts III, it wasn’t a huge surprise to see the sequel skip the Tokyo Game Show last week. The developer spent the past eight years or so of his tenure at the Japanese company making excuses regarding Final Fantasy XV – which is only 50 per cent finished, by the way – so don’t expect to see the Disney crossover for several years yet.
Don’t worry, though, as in an interview with Famitsu magazine – as reported by Siliconera – he stressed that the project is progressing according to plan. The developer’s had a few hiccups with the title’s engine, but it sounds like the writing and character designs are almost complete, so that’s good news at least. Furthermore, the gameplay currently best resembles PlayStation Portable entry Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, with plenty of Keyblade transformations employed in combat.
Unfortunately, any rumours regarding the inclusion of Frozen characters remain uncertain at the moment, as the developer has denied the reports that have been doing the rounds of late. Given the movie’s popularity in Japan, we’re going to assume that you’ll definitely be kicking it with Anna, Elsa, and crew – but the firm probably wants to make a big announcement regarding that, which we’re sure will materialise at some point by 2031.

Y U TAKE SO LONG
I still don't believe you.
I thought this was hitting next year....release remix 1.5 and then 2.5 then 3 soon after people have been reintroduced to the characters....this is my most anticipated game.
...well that makes me sadder... If XV is only half finished, I've gotta wait 1-2 years for a trailer of KH3, 3-4 for a gameplay trailer of KH3, and 5+ for a release... So, PS5, XB TOO, and Wii 3 (doubtful) confirmed? 😉
Well since KH 2.5 is PS3 only you have to give them a year or two for that to port to PS4, preferably in a package w/ KH HD 1.5, then a year after that, or so, we can get KH3. Hopefully still on the PS4. Maybe I'll wait for PS5 to get them all in a 4k package
BTW Target has this June 30, 2015, Amazon Dec 31, 2015. Place holder dates I reckon.

This juat means they "planned" on not having anything to show for 3 more years.
I'm disappointed to hear that it's following the Birth by Sleep combat system. I much preferred that of KH2, or even KH1 for that matter. oh well, at least from the sound of things, they have about 5 more years to decide to change it. Actually, let's face it, Kingdom Hearts 3 is never gonna be released
Hajime Tabata, new director of Final Fantasy XV, said to reset the clock on development time to when he joined the project two years ago(also when they started developing for new-gen), so for it to be at 55% complete is quite impressive considering how long it was in purgatory under Tetsuya Nomura. I feel like development for KH3 will actually move along a bit faster now that Nomura has moved away from Final Fantasy XV, and Final Fantasy XV development will move along faster without Nomura working on it
@Zup The command deck is actually pretty useful. I liked it more than having the magic gauge from KH2. They said the battle system was to be based off of KH3D, using flowmotion at least, so they might implement the command deck. I don't mind either way, as long as it isn't based off of that garbage from Chain of Memories. 😛
So it's on track to be an early PS6 game... good to know.
It seems to me that SE are getting much worse in terms of information to release time. They keep on doing this type of crap, they better hope the game is going to sell millions, if not, this could put a damper on the company. They wouldn't have to shut the doors, but it will create a huge dent.
That's good to hear. I probably would have preferred a battle system similar to KH1. I like it the most.
Well, it'll take me quite a while before I can afford a PS4, so I don't mind the wait.
Thank god I'm still playing 3D. I already knew this game would take years.
@feelthesarcasm It's not very long, like 25 hours. Then again, it was the first 3DS game I owned, and I didn't hjave much to play outside of that.
