Alright, maybe the Tokyo Game Show ultimately wasn’t quite as exciting as it seemed on day one – but the likes of Final Fantasy XV, Bloodborne, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain were more than enough to make the event worthwhile. Elsewhere this week, Microsoft confirmed the acquisition of Minecraft, while we also busied ourselves with a handful of new reviews – including a controversial Murasaki Baby one.
Reviews
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution - 8/10
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution succeeds in providing the most thoughtful entry in the series yet, with subtle tweaks to the formula affecting combat in a largely positive way – even if some annoying imbalances keep it from reaching true Hokage status. A slew of engaging gameplay modes and a huge character roster ensure that you'll be kept busy, but once again, it's the brilliant and intense spectacle of all-out ninja warfare that'll keep you utterly glued to your controller.
Murasaki Baby - 3/10
Murasaki Baby is a textbook example of style over substance. The game’s twisted fantasy world certainly looks the part, but its touch-based puzzles are the real nightmare at times. There are some clever moments here, but they’re undone by atrocious controls. Nobody puts Baby in a corner – but on this evidence, perhaps they should.

Talking Point: Is Japan Finally Back in the Game?
Every year, the Tokyo Game Show causes something of a dilemma at Push Square Towers. As the last high profile game convention in our calendar, we’re obliged to cover it, of course – but it’s always a difficult thing to prepare for. Regional issues make it challenging for us to, for example, put together predictions posts – and the lineup in recent times has made such an endeavour a waste of energy in the first place. This year, however, there’s the slightest sign of a bright light emerging overseas – and we’re only a day or so into the event.
Soapbox: Please Protect Me from the Purgatory of the PS3
I feel like a teenager who’s had their iPhone swapped with a spinning top right now. After several months mainly using the PlayStation 4, I’ve decided to go back to the PlayStation 3 in order to clear out some of my backlog – and boy is it torture. There’s no doubt that Sony’s previous generation system played host to some incredible games, but once you get used to the conveniences of its successor, it feels like trying to write a song on a guitar with six missing strings.

You read that right, Final Fantasy XV finally has a new trailer fresh from the Tokyo Game Show. Featuring a typically mellow Noctis, the trailer shows off quite a bit, including glimpses of vast, seemingly open environments, combat, and, er, driving.
Minecraft Will Continue to Exist on PlayStation Platforms Despite Big Microsoft Buyout
The console war is about to get really weird, as Xbox chief Phil Spencer has pledged that Minecraft will continue to exist on PlayStation platforms – despite Microsoft purchasing maker Mojang for $2.5 billion today. “Gaming is the top activity across devices,” he said, “and we see great potential to continue to grow the Minecraft community and nurture the franchise. That is why we plan to continue to make Minecraft available across platforms – including iOS, Android, and PlayStation, in addition to Xbox and PC.”
Destiny Servers Go Offline as the Group Who Took Down the PSN Strike Again
Here we go again. The infamous Lizard Squad group are apparently taking credit for attacking Destiny's servers, using DDoS attacks to cut players' connections to the game.
PS4's Hardware Is No Longer 'Top of the Line', Admits Sony Employee
We’re a year or so into the PlayStation 4 generation, and we’re yet to really see what the console can do. However, the world of technology never stops advancing, and that means that the system is technically already out of date. It’s a fact that Naughty Dog programmer Cort Stratton – who’s a member of the developer’s fabled ICE Team – won’t deny. However, it doesn’t mean that the device won’t impress you for many, many years to come.
What Happens When a War Photographer Plays The Last of Us on PS4?
There are some people that are more familiar with war than others, and they include TIME photographer Ashley Gilbertson. For many of us, real world conflict is something that we see on the news and in books, but fortunately we’ve never actually experienced it firsthand. Gilbertson has, having taken snaps in Iraq among other places. So, how does he feel about The Last of Us Remastered on the PlayStation 4?

TGS 2014: Final Fantasy XV Is a Real Game, and This PS4 Tech Demo Proves It
Those of you that are veterans in the PlayStation Nation may be struggling to believe that Final Fantasy XV is an actual game, but this tech demo by Square Enix proves that the publisher at least has a functional prototype finished after eight long years of work. The clip – which can be found approximately 22 minutes into the embedded video – shows an arena battle with a Behemoth and a bunch of goblins, as well as the weather and time of day technology that the developer has built.

TGS is over right?
Hopefully Gravity Rush 2 will be announced tomorrow.
Hey Sammy I never properly apologized for giving you grief about the weekly recap back when it started in Feb (I just reread every comment for every post looking for one). So sorry. Also, Push Rewind is a nice name - better than just recap - and the logo is good too. You obviously spend a lot of time putting these together each week and they only average about 3 comments, 2 if you leave out the initial 14, and thats a shame.
So on topic ... Microsft actually bought Minecraft - announced a whole week ago Monday morning now - and nothing's changed. If those Squid kiddies wanted to do something cool they should have froze over all the worlds of Minecraft and then have Robert Scorpio come and save them.
Yep yep, gonna be a great winter/spring with The Witcher 3 and Final Fantasy Type 0. Too bad Arkham Knight got delayed again cause that would've completed the hat trick for me.
Bloodborne, meh... but that Dragon Quest, that needs a western release date ASAP! As does, of course, Final Fantasy 15.
And any Vita announcement at this point would be welcome. Just gimme ONE good Vita exclusive and 2 good ports in 2015 and a I'lll be happy. 3 great games, that's all I'm asking for. Reasonable enough, yes?
I'm probably THE ONLY ONE crazy excited about the rumored "Final Fantasy Lightning Collection" coming to PS4.... I have a hard time being excited for XV when little to no info is known yet, but ooooohhh man does the Lightning Collection get me hyped up.
@rjejr No need to apologise. They don't actually take as long to put together as you'd think!
