Here we go again

That’s another week out of the way, which means that we’ll be writing the next edition of What Are You Playing from the showfloor at EGX London. Those of you in the UK will spot us eyeing up any PlayStation titles with shirts proudly emblazoned with the Push Square logo, so do stop us and say hello if you’re heading to the show. Here’s what’s keeping us busy in the meantime.

Sammy Barker, Editor

I’m probably going to get a bit of stick for this, but I’ve fallen back in love with PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. In hindsight, I accept that this game has presentation issues, and perhaps doesn’t do as much with PlayStation’s impressive legacy as it perhaps should have done. Having said that, I genuinely enjoy the gameplay, and the crossover stages are a real masterstroke.

Robert Ramsey, Associate Editor

I'm in a seriously love/hate relationship with Destiny at the moment. After spending days trying to acquire anything remotely useful, I finally snagged a legendary autorifle last night at around 4AM. Was it worth it? I can't say – but my boycott of the sci-fi shooter lasted all but a few hours. Damn you, Bungie!

Ben Potter, Video Editor

Destiny is a game that I've only been squeezing five minutes into here and there over the past week, courtesy of life rearing its big ugly head and making me all busy. This weekend, I fully intend to take my red-headed blue lady woman to the stars and back, not only because that's what one must do when in the presence of a red-headed blue lady woman, but also because I like to play games before bed, and Peter Dinklage's lifeless voice over is precisely the slumber-inducing drivel that I require for a good night's sleep.

Kell Andersen, News Reporter

I've being spending entirely too much time not playing video games in recent weeks, so my plan for this weekend is to dig in and indulge in some nice long sessions of Destiny. Funnily enough, as someone who historically can't stand competitive multiplayer, I've actually been enjoying my time in The Crucible. That's probably because I don't know any better, though.

Nicola Hayden, News Reporter

Have I gotten past Level 7 in Destiny yet? This weekend, I think that I should rectify that. However, with the League of Legends world final matches beginning to air, I may turn traitor and watch some eSports instead. [Gross! – Ed]

Alex Stinton, Reviewer

After spending most of the week on the hunt for legendary Warlock gear in Destiny, this weekend will be spent taking a break from the grind. Instead, I'll be devoting my time to playing Frozen Synapse Prime on the Vita for review, and taking the Forza Horizon 2 demo out for a drive on the Xbox One. [Is that a new name for DriveClub, Alex? – Ed]

Graham Banas, Reviewer

Alternating between NHL 15 and Destiny is taking up quite a lot of time, and I don't see that changing for a couple of weeks – not until Alien: Isolation is out anyway. In fact, that game promises to be the only thing scarier than the list of features missing from NHL 15.

Jamie O’Neill, Reviewer

I'll hack-and-slash my way through a fantasy world that's seeped in magic, with undead skeletons, dragons, and an elf-like pixie sporting a pointy green hat with a penchant for potions. Yep, I'm playing arcade Golden Axe from 1989 on my PS3, since it only takes twenty-odd minutes to complete. [See what you did there, Jamie – very good! – Ed]

Joey Thurmond, Reviewer

Besides embarking to defeat aliens in Anomaly 2, I'll also continue defeating other extraterrestrial menaces in Destiny. One more level to go until I hit Level 20!

Simon Fitzgerald, Reviewer

As I’m now Level 26 in Destiny, I’ll be teaming up with five of my friends in an attempt to raid the Vault of Glass. It's going to be tough and there is going to be many, many deaths, but hopefully we will come out as victors. The other title that I will be dipping in and out of is Child of Light. It's a release that I've been interested in, but just haven't got around to playing yet.

That’s us, then – but what are you playing this weekend? Let us know what’s on your agenda in the comments section, and also share your EGX London plans if you’re heading to the event.
