If there's one thing Sony's system's are sorely lacking, it's games about fencing that feature giant cosmic worms which devour the inferior player. Luckily, Nidhogg is here to fill that hideously underrepresented niche. The inventive indie joins recent PlayStation Plus freebie Sportsfriends as an example of smaller developers making compelling couch multiplayer experiences.
This particular title sees you and a friend duking it out in fancy fencing attire, and also attempting to gain territory while forcing your opponent back. If this sounds like your cup of tea, you'll be happy to hear that the title will launch on PS4 and Vita in North America on 14th October. What's more, it will be cross-buy. Huzzah. Unfortunately, no release schedule has been announced for Europe yet, but we suspect it won't be too far behind.
What do you make of Nidhogg's stylish blend of action and strategy? Does it look like the type of game that will destroy all your friendships in the best possible way? Raise your rapier in the comments section below.

Does it have online or just local?
Must have online, it would be a joke if not.
Exactly, that's what killed Towerfall for me because it lacked online MP, it's such a risk these devs take cos when we got our consoles, most of us only get 1 dualshock. They like 50 quid each which I'd rather spend on a game.

"The indie two-player game can be played locally, Vita-to-Vita via ad-hoc mode, and online. Two players can also play on the same Vita using one thumbstick per player. The game also features a three to eight person local-multiplayer tournament mode."
@TOMBOY25 Then I'm game, we need a thread for this game.
Ignoring the fact of whether it is fun or not, surely this should win an award for one of the ugliest looking games on record. Even allowing for the retro art style, they are some of the worst graphics I have ever seen. Luckily is sounds like it plays better than it looks.
The game looks so fun but I do not play games with other people. Depending on price and longevity for single player I'll either buy this immediately or never get it. Hoping it's got something
