It seems that Alpha and Beta tests are all the rage these days. Destiny arguably mastered this technique, with countless players pre-ordering the title in order to get a taste of its extra-terrestrial escapades. In truth, we reckon this is pretty good idea, as it allows any potential online functionality problems to be hashed out before launch. Indeed, we can think of a few recent games that might have benefited from such a test.
Luckily, 4-on-1 competitive shooter Evolve will be using this very tactic, with the title receiving a 'Big Alpha' on PlayStation 4 from 31st October until 2nd November. If you want to get in on this madcap multiplayer mayhem, you can guarantee a place by pre-ordering the game, or otherwise following the directions on your region specific PlayStation Blog post. Unfortunately, if you live in one of the countries listed through here, you won't be able to take part.
Will you be trying to wrangle a position in Evolve's alpha test, or are you just going to wait for the full experience? Team up in the comments section below.

Looks like it's preordering time.
Yeah it's a shame Evolution Studios didn't have a beta for DriveClub, but I guess that was the game you were making reference too in this article.
The only problem with the Destiny Alpha & beta was, by the time I actually got my hands on the full game I felt like I'd already seen most of the full game. Bungie said that the beta was supposed to be around 10% of the full game but since me and my friends played the moon once it had been opened up for the hour by the time we started playing the full retail version it was hours before we got to see anything new. Maybe that was one of the reasons we got fed up with Destiny so soon.
In regards to Evolve I think I'll wait until its on the store shelf and Push Square have reviewed it before rushing to get access to the unfinished version.
I recently got access to the BloodBorne Alpha/Beta and after playing it for around six hours I've decided to give the full game a miss when its released.
It wasn't a bad game from what I played but there're some features I didn't like. For instance, you have no way of blocking attacks so you basically have to dodge which doesn't always work out. If you have a wall or another object to one side and a couple of enemys to the other you have very little to no option other than death. There were some other issues for which I won't go into as I've gone on for too long as it is.
I will say one last thing though, I think Alpha's & Beta's are a good idea. If you're gonna have multiplayer in your games there really is no better way to stress test the servers.
I'm in the draw - Eurogamer posted a code yesterday that allowed entry. Will have to wait & see. Will be great to go hands on though - it's got some great word of mouth so far.
I preordered on Amazon just to play the alpha. If I love it, I keep the preorder, if not, I can cancel. I wish more games would do this! It's seriously try before you buy!
i shall participate
