Wow! This may well be the biggest week for new PlayStation releases since the PlayStation 4 launched last year. Now that Destiny is out of the way, the holiday season is really kicking off in style – and this edition of Out This Week has a little something for everyone. Whether you want to rock your birthday suit in Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed, crouch behind the sofa in Alien: Isolation, or lose your mind in Spelunky, Sony’s suite of systems have clearly got you covered. There can only be one Pick of the Week, though...
Pick of the Week: DriveClub
Alright, hold your horns, we know that this was on your wishlist a year ago – but the lengthy delay seems to have served DriveClub well. Evolution Studios’ next-gen racer not only looks the business these days, but its handling model has also been tuned to absolute perfection, providing all of the weight of a real vehicle – without leaving you doing wheel spins in the dirt Gran Turismo style. Well, unless you want to, of course.
The Runcorn-based developer claims that this game’s interactive menu was the reason behind its delay, and it’s certainly stacked with social features that will keep you up-to-date with the progress of your friends. Of course, community functionality is pointless without long-term support, and the studio’s committed to that with a content schedule that spans new features such as weather, tracks, and cars. Want to know the best part, though? You’ll get a ton of stuff for free.

Still waiting for drive club reviews
@tulaib_100 They're out in 15 minutes. We'll have a round up for you!
Driveclub & Dust for me please!
2 games I wanted for free Spelunky and Dust <3
And Pix the Cat looks fun.
@AyeHaley Yeah, I'm super excited for Pix the Cat. It's a great week!
Would be the Driveclub upgrade for me but I promised the kids they could have Skylanders... Guess I'll have to make do with the free version till payday!
Looking forward to drive club, hopefully it'll hit the store come midnight. Pix the cat reminds me too much of the awful chu chu rocket.
I love my racing games but haven't had one for PS4 yet so I'll be itching to get started on Driveclub
There actually isn't anything in the list I can say I've been looking forward to. However there are titles I didn't know much about that I'm intrigued by and I do like the pleasant surprises that can arise from PS+ and from impulse buying smaller titles from the store. I love the Alien films...love that isolation takes its cue from Alien rather than Aliens but something about the game doesn't click with me...maybe I'll try it later on. I'm off to trade in Destiny for Shadow of Modor...very excited to try it. I hope Drive club lives up to expectations for those that like racing games.
@LDXD I wouldn't be giving shadow of Mordor a shot if it hadn't had such positive gamer feedback on here and on other sites. I usually wait a little while to get games....Destiny was an unfortunate anomaly in my getting it day one. I love Tolkien and loved the LOTR films (not a fan of the Hobbit films) so I'm sure my time with Shadow of Mordor will be a jolly one. It would be madness if they didn't follow it up with further games in the series...there are a lot of areas of Middle Earth history and lore that haven't been covered much that are perfect to provide game material.
@LDXD I love the Batman games...I loved AC2, the other Assassins Creed games just didn't do it for me (black flag was ok mainly as I enjoyed the sea battles) I can see where Shadow of Mordor got it's different mechanics and taking the combat fluidity from the Arkham games is just fine with me. People may complain SoM is stapled together from parts of other games but that's fine if the end product is greater than the sum of its parts....and the nemesis system just seems awesome.
Can't wait to get off work today for some Dust and Drive Club.
Well, it's Tuesday, October 7, is Spelunky going to be released or what?
@LDXD gameapot really hated on driveclub. Ign's 7.9 is kinda strange. Not sure why they couldnt just give it an 8. I dont think i have ever seen a game get 7.9 before lol
DriveClub and Alien: Isolation for me Loved Alien the little bit I played at E3, great atmosphere and scary as hell
