Reports on resolution probably shouldn’t be a thing in this day and age, but our statistics suggest that many of you are actually gagging for it, so we’re sort of forced to oblige. Fortunately, this snippet is worth a few hundred words, as Official PlayStation Magazine claims that Grand Theft Auto V will run at a full, eye-popping 1080p on the PlayStation 4.
Considering almost all of the titles on Sony’s super machine share the same statistic, it’s hardly a surprising detail – but the added image clarity will be welcome, given just how intricately detailed the Los Santos sandbox tends to be. The publication’s 10-page article also references improved draw distance, and higher quality textures. Phwoar.
There’s no word on refresh rate just yet, but you should probably expect a sturdy 30 frames-per-second – anything higher will likely be reserved for PC rigs the size of a housing estate. You can peruse the full article as part of the latest issue of OPM, which is available on UK store shelves now. Are you happy to learn this little detail? Let us know in the comments section below.

Pales in comparison to 8 player 1080p 60fps Smash, nothing will top that for me for a long time.
@Jazzer94 Sure, but they're completely different games. Grand Theft Auto V is an open world packed with NPCs, whereas Smash takes place in confined environments. No doubt they both look great, though.
@get2sammyb I know Sammy I know just personal bias for my favourite series.
Also 1080p on PS4 was supposed to be standard so it feels more special for a Wii U game.
will be replaying this on ps4 i lost my save on ps3 that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it
Hope they didn't make any compromises in the fps area to make this happen. Because of the incredible scale I expected 900p with some nice filters to smoothen the looks. 1080p is nice and all, but I just hope the performance will be alright...that's the whole reason why I skipped the PS3 iteration.
Finally after a year I'm gonna see for myself what the fuzz is about. I haven't even seen gta been played live, so it must be a pleasant surpise this november.
@Boerewors You are in for a treat it was simply amazing on ps3 ps4 will be even better rockstar doesnt release crap
Games have being running at 1080 since 2009, why the celebration ?
"PC the size of a housing estate" to achieve above 30FPS ...... Grow up
@GabBa7357 I'm guessing you're not used to jokes.
@Jazzer94 oh there was a lol in there or a , basically saying that to get higher FPS you need a huge gaming rig.
please watch the language and the insults. Thanks -Tasuki-
@GabBa7357 Try reading it again it is obvious he is not being serious and making a wisecrack and given how badly GTA 4 was on PC he may not be far off.
@Jazzer94 You playing smash 3ds online? how are you getting on? I consistently get good connections on For Glory 1v1 but thats about it.
I can't wait to play this game again. November 18th can't get here soon enough.
That was unwarranted. Its ok not agree with another user but there are nicer ways to go about it. -Tasuki-
@eLarkos Depends at Uni it can take time for me to get a match and lags on occasion, whereas at home it works really well consistently. Overall a huge step up over Brawl's online.
@eLarkos @Jazzer94
I usually play 1x1 For Glory With Anyone and it's always great.
However, when I play Smash against 4 people it's worse. I played one match that was great and the next was nearly unplayable.
I'll probably stick with 1x1 when I play online.
While graphics aren't paramount for me, if GTA5 runs at 60fps on PS4, I'm definitely buying it. I recently played it online with on PS3 affer almost a year on PS4 and the framerate gave me a headache. Funny how we get spoiled by better hardware. :&
As it bloody well should be!
@seeafish for me, even more frustrating than the skippy framerate is the slow rendering resulting in traffic signs appearing in front of you out of nowhere if you drive too fast... Even at ~30fps the system will improve every aspect that the devs haven't specifically redone or added, which are supposed to be really well-done. I'm gonna try to preorder for the million bucks
@GabBa7357 Maybe you should grow up! Sammy was just making a point with a bit of over-exaggeration for humour, and the point was, you will need a hefty rig to run GTA V at a high refresh rate. I've had multiple gaming PC's over the years and for the most part GTA ran better on console.
Besides, when you stand a high end gaming PC next to a PS4 it seems like house size since the PS4 is ultra slim and my PC atleast seems like a monster in size comparison.
Do you take everything literally or do you have a sense of humour?
@Jazzer94 That game will be the death of me :')
I knew the PC comment would bite me in the bottom. Was only joking, y'all!
Well @get2sammyb is right that in 2014 reports on 1080p shouldn't be around. It should be expected, sadly it can't be because of a combination of lazy devs and hardware that's maybe not as powerful as a couple corporations are making them out to be. Not that I'll let 900p stop me from enjoying a game if I really want to play it but in the case of a company like Ubisoft which is clearly cutting corners with some versions of its games, they can f**k off.
Disappointed :-/ I wanted it to be at least 8K
So there is a rumour going around that GTA V will run in full HD with updated textures on PS4. Huh... who would have guessed that a game from last-gen would look better on current-gen consoles lol.
It was GTA V that killed my PS3. Never had an issue until GTA V and within a few days my PS3 started over heating.
Something I've noticed with these games that have been "updated" is my PS4 gets alot lounder and warmer when I play them when compared with other games like, inFAMOUS SS, Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4 etc etc.
Its probably just my PS4.
