Virtually all video game trailers include carefully selected press quotes, but this DriveClub clip just couldn’t resist fuelling the fanboy flames. At one point in the 90-second promo embedded below, the platform holder points out that Evolution Studios’ next-gen racer is the PlayStation 4’s purported 'Forza killer'.
Granted, the quote comes from our friends over at VG247, but the selection seems a little misguided. After all, the recently released Forza Horizon 2 has just received a string of top-notch reviews, and, well, the two titles aren’t even that comparable in the first place. Also, we all know what happened to Killzone when it was branded a 'Halo killer', don’t we?

Agreed, super strange. Forza Horizon and Drive Club are only really comparable insofar as they have cars and are racers. They're certainly not the same types of racers!
In other news, I played about 30 seconds of DriveClub the other day and it feels great. Car handling is spot on; went from The Crew to this, and the difference was night and day.
Also, here's a picture of the Push Square squad posing with Michael Denny.
BYE!
Wow, this made me shake my head. I know the team was just having fun with that comment, but we know how far fanboys will take that comment.
Yeah really unhelpful comment. There is no way that this game will sell more than FH2. That series has a long and prestigious pedigree. DC is unknown even if looking good. The only issue I see for FH2, is that it isn't long since the last Forza game, so not everyone will double dip. Still it being open world may change that up a bit, but then The Crew comes in as competition.
By the time Project Cars is released in Nov, Racing fans will be living the dream! Spoiled for choice.
As the the article mentions when a similar thing was done with Killzone Vs Halo Sony's franchise took a hard fall. Fanning the fanboy rubbish doesn't help...it's immature playground antics and it got tired for me back when it was about the NES vs the Sega master system.
It's like when Sony decided to take a shot at Microsoft during this year's E3. If it weren't for Persona, and the fact that Xbox One versions of Japanese games will likely be subpar, I'd be fine with sticking with Xbox.
When does DC's review embargo lift?
for racers I think Driveclub is going to be awesome. I would say my favorite open world racer is certainly not Forza, it's burnout paradise, that game was awesome.
Saying Forza Killer is like agree that Forza is the best in market...
Lets not start an arrogant trend Sony. Everything from the PS4 reveal to launch has been stellar. Sales numbers prove this. A few wisecracks here and there are acceptable but don't take it too far. Ive said it more than once MS will do whatever it takes to get back in the game. Such as the ridiculous Rise of the Tomb Raider fiasco so be prepared for anything but don't stoop to a low level. MS has done enough damage to themselves so no need to get too dirty. Some quick jabs here and there but let the knockout blows be your content. Sony exclusives have always spoken for themselves.
@FATHASUN well to be fair, I really doubt this was Sony's idea. Just a friendly jab from the team behind Driveclub most likely.
Wow I cant say it was planed I don't know. But i do know gaming sites are going to click bate this all they can.
At least killzone could stand on its own legs. Haze was also dubbed a halo killer see how that worked out. Who cares if it kills Forza as long as it is playable and fun.
So yea I've been playing fh2 this week and it's the funnest racing game I've played in a long time. Looks gorgeous, plays great, so many amazing cars, awesome campaign... drive club certainly has its work cut out for it.
@get2sammyb
The Crew is open world and DriveClub is not, a big difference for me.
Besides that, I played the Crew beta on my XBox but the lack of FFB in the controller makes the Crew feel like dead for me when I play the game.
I will play DriveClub but I prefer a racegame without social stuff. I hope that I can play DC without all the social bla bla.
Just the usual stupid quotes supposed to be 'references' and if VG247 really said that they are as much to blame.
I like the vid though
@JohnKarnes I agree
and in the article , 'Sony points out that Evolution Studios’ next-gen racer is the PlayStation 4’s purported 'Forza killer'. actually I think they point out that VG247 said that and its supposed to be a 'reference'' thats where they are to blame andI always find ridiculous all these quotes.
As a kid it was funny having Sega say things like they "Do What Nintendon't" as it was playground stuff. As an adult it's just incredibly sad, unfunny and beyond childish. That the vast majority of people will get this game free says something about the confidence Sony have in it.
And soon GT7 will be the KILLER of both
Im gonna be brutally honest and say i find FH2 more interesting looking than DC.
@mitcHELLspawn The Car Show seems to have all the cars from F5.
Have you gone to the Airport and used the ramps to jump over the Hangers?
Pretty cool.
@BloodyBill no that sounds awesome though lol. I've only gotten to play for about 2 hours or so because I'm away at work until tomorrow but I finished the first bucket list mission which is awesome and then I did the race with the Ferrari racing the Jets lol that was so sick. Then you get to keep the Ferrari which is awesome. Man the way they use the rumble features in the triggers is so amazing. They perfected it. It really feels like the brakes locking up or the tires spinning from acceleration. I wish more games with driving would use them in that way.
No comment.
Pathetic
See, people here get it. Seldom do I read fanboyish comments on Pushsquare. Think we can all agree that this comment was inappropriate.
We're gamers because we love games, not because we hate them. And it just seems like so many gamers nowadays want to focus on hating games instead of loving them. If the game is good then it's okay to say the game is good. But when you start putting other games down to prop a game up, you've officially crossed into fanboy territory.
