The songbirds will keep on singing, and we’ll keep on playing video games. With the thrust of the holiday season now in full swing, there’s no shortage of titles to choose from – as is evidenced by the variety outlined by our team of writers below. Of course, with reviews to write and news to report on, there’s no real time to dwell, so let’s get down to business.

From one horror game to another: I’ve abandoned Alien: Isolation’s ever-present extraterrestrial to make a date with ol’ Safe Face in The Evil Within. At this point, I’m not sure that I’m going to have any nails left.

This weekend will be unceremoniously dedicated to finishing off games that are in desperate need of being removed from my mounting backlog. This includes the gigantic Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, mostly because there always seems to be yet another musou release just waiting around the corner.
Kell Andersen, News Reporter
I will be spending my weekend buried within the neon depths of Pix the Cat, arguably the most addictive PlayStation Plus freebie of all time. On a related note, can we just talk about how polished that game's presentation is? When I first booted it up, I sat listening to its menu music for about five minutes – it's that good.
Nicola Hayden, News Reporter
With all of this month's PlayStation Plus Titles on my playlist, just where to start first is leaving me in despair. Short bursts of Rainbow Moon and Pix the Cat are my remedy while I mentally recover in-between cases of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.

While there won't be much of an opportunity for gaming this weekend due to the arrival of my first child, I am hoping to spend some time with Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor in-between the feeding and nappy changes. Am I being too optimistic? [Probably Alex, but on behalf of all of us at Push Square, congratulations on your new arrival – Ed]

I've got two games that I really want to play, but I want to wait for DriveClub’s full feature set to actually be available and for Creative Assembly to patch Alien: Isolation’s horrid cut-scene framerate glitch. In the absence of those two, I might turn to a proven winner in Season One of The Walking Dead. [Welcome to next-gen, Graham – Ed]

I'm heading to Play Expo in Manchester on Saturday, where I enjoy loitering in the coin-op section, and reminiscing about the golden age of the arcade. I'm also hoping the candy cab that houses Konami's 1991 Xexex is there again, because I still haven't imported the Salamander Portable collection for my PSP.
Joey Thurmond, Reviewer
The bane of mid-terms loom over me for the next week, so I must struggle to study, write, and research while I reluctantly put aside finishing the side content of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor for a while.
Simon Fitzgerald, Reviewer
My backlog of games just keeps growing and growing while I'm playing the big titles like Destiny and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. However, this weekend I plan on clearing some of it by playing Pix the Cat, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Spelunky, Velocity 2X, and more. If I manage to get through all of that, I'll need another weekend following it to recover.
What will be keeping you busy this weekend? Are there any titles in particular that you’re waiting impatiently for? Sing your heart out in the comments section below.

I've got just about every good game there is on Vita so I'm pretty bored with my Vita nowadays and I've gone back to my GBA to play all the old games I missed. Metro Zero Mission and Fusion just came in the mail this mornin so I'll be playing those for a while. SMB 3 is supposed to come Monday too. Maybe I'll get MineCraft Vita when it comes out Tuesday.
I'm still playing Prototype (PS3), I just completed Mission 19: Men Like Gods.
i will be playing destiny, the iron banner event is calling my name, plus i will be trying to get the last two trophies for shadow of mordor.
Sleeping Dogs PS4 mainly. Although I'm still determined to finish the Trophies off on Reaogun (complete it on veteran and then Experienced without a game over).
@ObviouslyAdachi What a fine game Zero Mission is. Everything and more I wanted from a Super Metroid sequel. Then when I finished it I moved on to Prime and what a game that is! Still in my top five.
Styx master of shadows and some hyrule warriors
@rastamadeus I thought sleeping dogs wasn't out until Tuesday?
I'm trying to get through alien Isolation but I'm having a really hard time staying focused on that game. After about half hour gaming sessions with it I find myself becoming bored and throwing forza horizon 2 in. Anyone else having this problem with that game?
@mitcHELLspawn Yes! I'm a huuuggeee Alien fan, but I'm struggling to stick with Isolation. The gameaybis actually kind of getting in the way for me. I just want to explore the environments because they're incredible but the game wants me to play the game, and I just don't want to.
@gbanas92 haha yeah. I'm attempting another go right now. I'm only on mission 5 but man its frustrating sometimes
@mitcHELLspawn
I'm considering knocking it down to easy. I appreciate what the gameplay's trying to do, but in all honesty, I just wanna take everything else in. And I've heard that easy on that game, is well, easy.
I've not had much time for gaming...I'll be playing more of the lovely Valient Hearts.
Nothing but Destiny, The Last of Us Remastered, and Infamous: Second Son. Just got my PS4 yesterday
@rastamadeus So would you say Zero Mission is better than Fusion? I looked around the internet before buying to see which is better and I got mixed results, so I got both. I recently got hooked on Metriod after beating the original on Virtual Console and I figured a cheap GBA game could be just what I needed. And I was turned off by the lack of color in Metroid II.
Velocity 2X and Diablo III on PS4
Forza Horizon 2 on XONE
nothing on Vita:(
I can tell you what I am not playing - DriveClub. Still waiting for the update in Oz.
Luckily Shadow or Mordor is filling my time nicely.
Zelda: Spirit Tracks (DS) - Decided to play something from my backlog. Was also thinking of starting Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, but chose to play this first.
@ObviouslyAdachi I think Zero Mission is better than Fusion, but they're both fantastic.
Ni No Kuni, I have to get the 250 familiars eventually.
Once again it is AC IV. I'm usually pretty focused when I play games. But every time I boot this one up I get horribly sidetracked and end up on some island looking for some damned chest for 100 R. Then I check the time and realize I haven't finished one mission. But I am enjoying it
@gbanas92 Don't do that! It's a bit long winded, but I really enjoyed the game of cat and mouse. I'm not sure it would be quite the same experience without the constant threat lurking around the corner.
I've kind of taken a break all week and I've now decided to go back to destiny for the weekend, I'm going to carry on grinding until I hit level 30, could be a slog.
Going to be focusing on the following games this weekend
DS — Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin: Continuing with my Retro Halloween game marathon. I finished Bloodlines last week so now I am starting on its sequel
Xbox 360 — Mortal Kombat: Finally got this game so now I can see what all the hype is before MK X comes out
PS4 — Dust: An Elysian Tale: Beautiful game and one of the best indie games around. If I can get my son off of Dust long enough I will be starting this one back up
PC — World of Warcraft: One more character to get to 90 for an achievement before the expansion next month.
Killzone Shadowfall, PES2015 demo and playing the waiting for Drive Club game.
PlayStation Home on PS3 and Plants vs. Zombies on Windows Phone
@ToddlerNaruto how does prototype hold up to today's standards? Is the gameplay fun? I'm an infamous fan and because the game is dated around infamous 1, I'm expecting visuals on par with that. I'm gonna try that when I'm done with fallout.
@Storytime7 SPIRIT TRACKS! high fives
Such an underrated LoZ game. Very innovative and charming in a lot of ways. You'll enjoy it!
Xbox One- Forza Horizon 2
3DS- Super Smash Bros.
Bayonetta 2 demo, mainly.
I was playing shadow of mordor. However i finished it earlier tonight. Ps. * Spolier* the ending was stupid easy. Everything leading up to the last two final fights made you work for it. Still a great game just disappointed with the lack of any real difficulty for the last fights. Ill probably play cod ghost and check out the Bayonetta II free download.
Drive club,October PS+ freebies and random games and emu's on Ouya
@Storytime7 Thanks, I appreciate the input. That seems to be what most people are saying
@ztpayne7: If you love inFamous series, you'll enjoy Prototype.
I'm liking it myself, though I will always prefer inFAMOUS (prob due to me playing it first).
I finally got around to playing Tokyo Jungle, so I've been working my way through that for the past week. So far I've gotten up to the axis deer and wolf in survival and the hyena in story mode. It doesn't seem like much, but its crazy fun (literally and figuratively).
Storm Revolution again and FFVII on my Vita
Shadow of Mordor, probably the best game so far out of the poor selection of Next Generation games.
@hadlee73 I looked forward so much to this game, so disappointed with the reality. Got it early on pre-order, traded it on its official release day. Hope you like it more than I did.
@XFsWorld what a buzz, I remember that feeling. Enjoy, it really is the best console, pure grunt inside, oh the games we have to come....
This weekend, picked up drive club, put a good dent in the career already. For me personally I really like this game, its another demonstration of the power of this PlayStation.
Also, grinding through Lego marvel with the child, 200 hours in and getting those deadpool bricks, aaaargh. Great value for money though, haven't touched Hobbit yet.
Bit of shadow of mordor maybe tonight and FIFA 15.
@FullbringIchigo Ooooooooooh FFVII on my vita. That's a crazy good idea.
I have been playing mostly Stick it to the Man, crazy little game.
I also took the time to play some Puppeteer to see if I can reach the end, and Wolfenstein the New Order is trying to force me to lower the difficulty to see if I can steal the supply train without running out of bullets trying to kill three Super Soldaten. Old FPS were hard but at least we had "save and load anywhere" features.
@gr8apeb8 I have the first 10 on there, it's great having FF on the go (I know you can get some on iPhone and Android but I prefer to have actual controlls when playing a game)
Professor Layton Vs Ace Attorney as I'm reaching the end of the game and the story is really good.
Also Hyrule Warriors so my brain don't get to work too much in a surprisingly good action game;
circle of the moon
@FullbringIchigo not all that long ago I stuck a good 60-70 hrs into FFVII on my Xperia Z, doing everything other than stat maxing - still easily as good today as it was first time round! Bought a Vita since then, but with so much else to play from a few years of PS+, the only one I've had time to go back to so far was X (VI and VIII are still sitting there untouched as yet).
I've been playing Theatrhythm on the 3DS for the last week or so though, and all that beautiful music has got me itching to go replay them all (well, 1 through XII at least). Desperately need to get a bigger memory card, load them all on and work my way back through the lot (will need to wait for the next sale though if I want to pick them all up without breaking the bank)!
@SteveButler2210 I still need to get Curtain Call but I play the original Theatrhythm at least once a week and I listen to FF music all the time because it's so good
