As, for lack of a better word, ‘hardcore’ gamers, we tend to put exaggerated emphasis on franchises such as BioShock and Uncharted. While both are critically acclaimed, these properties don’t touch the sales of Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto – mainstream hits that even the average person at your local pub will be able to appreciate.
Sony’s latest bundle, then – yes, the platform holder’s putting together another one – is all about the so-called ‘casual’ gamers, as it slaps FIFA 15 and Minecraft: PS4 Edition into a brilliantly attractive box, and calls it a day. According to MCV, this will be available in the UK for a limited time soon, and will sell for £349.99 – with some retailers likely to push that figure even lower.
Given the popularity of the included titles, and the competitive pricing, the Japanese giant will no doubt be hoping that this – along with its more adult skewed Far Cry 4 and Grand Theft Auto V hardware options – will be enough to keep its console in front over the Christmas period. Honestly, we wouldn’t bet against it at this point – would you?

I know its old games but that bundle makes sense to me. Though Ill admit my first reaction was - somebody in the UK doesnt own FIFA yet? - but then I realized they probably own the PS3 version if they dont own a PS4 yet. And thry are probably just adfing in Minevraft as a slap in the face to Microsoft since they own the game
GAME UK exclusive - hypothetical interest lost.
that one doesn't make much sense to me the Fifa and Minecraft audiences are different
@DualWielding That don't count for us all, me and my friends love fifa 15 and love Minecraft lol
@DualWielding Not necessarily. Without stereotyping too much, it sounds perfect for boys aged between 5 and 13.
Sounds cool. Hopefully Amazon UK will have the same'ish deals like this over Xmas
No idea wether I count as hardcore or casual....I lose myself for endless hours In all kinds of games and I've been a gamer for a long long time, but I don't care about doing 100% of a game and out of 1800 PS trophies none of them are platinum as it usually requires repetitive busy work to get them. Neither MineCraft or FIFA appeal to me so I guess I'm a different demographic.
Its rubbish, Minecraft is a tenner, consoles around 300, Fifa is 40 quid? Pointless. I've seen xb1 consoles selling with a couple of new full AAA games for 349 and other bundles for xb1 with 5 AAA games for 399, Sony need to take note
@Bad-MuthaAdebis I'm assuming £349.99 would be the RRP, which would give retailers the license to drop it lower. I'm sure you'd see this selling for £329.99 on Amazon, etc. Remember: the PS4 standalone's RRP is technically still £349.99, but retailers have pushed it way lower in recent weeks.
These bundles are great and all but what about North America. I have yet to see one thing about NA bundles. What's the deal? Are none just not coming out in NA?
@Tasuki
I was thinking the same thing. You'd think even being happy with outselling MS in NA Sony would look at all the X1 bundles for the holiday and want to counter with something. At least a GTA V bundle if nothing else, that game is going to sell a ton, once again, and just like last year when it was marketed (at least from what I saw) mostly as a PS3 game, it seems like the same is happening this year with the PS4 version getting all the attention.
@Tasuki Don't we have the Destiny bundle?
Once a guy has his PS4, why should he care about new bundles coming out? Sure, this new bundle will sell some copies, but at this point Sony could bundle a PS4 with three rusty hubcaps from a '97 Ford Taurus and someone would buy it. Toss in a "certificate of authenticity" and create a few versions, like a "special edition," a "gold edition," and a "limited edition" and Sony would make a tidy profit.
XBOX ONE CONSOLE + EVIL WITHIN, ALIEN ISOLATION, FORZA 5, DEAD RISING 3, WOLFENSTEIN Bundle £399.85 @ shopto
