While we don’t doubt that it’s doing everything that it possibly can, we worry that Evolution Studios may have taken a little too long to get DriveClub up and running as intended. Despite high expectations at the start of the month, interest in the PlayStation 4 exclusive racer has plummeted over the past few days – primarily because it still doesn’t work as intended.
To be fair, the title is in a much better state than it was several days ago, but the fact that it’s still not running fully is, well, embarrassing to say the least. The Runcorn-based studio says that it’s working hard to improve server performance, but this is taking time. “Please understand that we are doing everything that we can to get all aspects of online play up and running smoothly,” a spokesperson said.
Still, those of you that can connect will have a greater variety of events to participate in from today, as the company has rolled out several new multiplayer races. “We will keep you up to date as we improve server performance for all aspects of online play,” the firm concluded. “Thank you again for your support while this work continues.” Sigh.

Driveclub, what's that?
@Bad-MuthaAdebis I think they are talking about the latest game "DelayClub". Easy to mix them up with each other.
The copy/paste nature of the facebook updates from DriveClub doesn't add credibility to the "it's getting better ever day" mantra that they seem to want their customers to believe. And the responses from their customers (on facebook) would seem to paint a different picture to one where things are noticeably improving.
The longer this goes on the more I wonder if, rather than working through server software bugs one at a time, the developers are trying to fix something that has fundamental design flaws. I hope for their sake this isn't the case.
I'm as disappointed as any PS4 owner about how the DriveClub launch has gone, but my sympathy right now is for the developers working on this (the pressure they'll be under from their managers/studio/Sony will be immense).
“Please understand"
Looks like Evolution have been taking apology lessons from Iwata again
@Reverandjames I could care less about online play! Give me the PS+ version with online disabled, don't delay my enjoyment when the broken functionality is something I am not even going to use!
@Sadodi the exclusive gentleman's club that has a 1 in 1 out policy, hrrrmph
It is getting better I was on for at least 40 seconds last night before it displayed the unable to communicate with Driveclub servers message.
@Reverandjames nothing beats split screen multiplayer on Split/Second (assuming you have a decent size TV). I really want to find another racing game that is as fun as that!
Im less than a week away from losing all interest in this game. Its a shame and an insult to gamers. Our industry needs to annouce games this early into development. Do It like movie industry, annouce it like 7 months prior to release. Although even the film industry is doing this "coming in 2017" crap now.
But they usually keep to their release date.
I continue to hold the belief that Evolution Studios may be having financial troubles which has caused them delay after delay after delay of this title. I find it very hard to believe what we are hearing from them when considering today's mature landscape of online gaming. How can they be having so much difficulty getting people to connect? Something just does not add up.
This game was set to go free to millions of Playstation Plus members. VGChartz has it with around 100K pre orders a week before launch. The difference is huge! If the servers cant handle such small numbers compared to the millions intended. This is a major issue that should have not happened with the smaller retail user base.
Eh, I am at the point when it comes out it comes out. I have other games to play in the meantime.
Could never play more than 2 matches without loosing connection, as late as Monday, deleted from harddrive and have moved on. Don't waste your money on this garbage
It feels like i bought an Early Access game from Steam.
A one year delay +3 weeks post launch and still the game doesn't work 100%.
Just shocking!
I keep on defending this game - but the fact that online is still the same as it was 2 weeks ago is getting old - as much as I want to play this game - its becoming a $50 blemish on my ps4 library. I'm probably going to ask for a refund and get denied for being dumb and going digital. But seriously - I'm tired of paying full price to be the beta testers.
Hard lessons learned unfortunately.
