It occurred to us earlier this evening that Ubisoft could, in theory, blame Assassin’s Creed Unity’s various bugs and glitches on a fault in the Animus – providing it with the perfect plot device to explain away the title’s terrible launch. Fortunately, the French firm isn’t doing that, and is instead working around the clock to fix the game – as it should.
That’s resulted in a brand new PlayStation 4 patch, which is available to download right now. This fixes a number of key flaws, including protagonist Arno Dorian falling through the floor. It also prevents crashes from occurring during co-op sessions, and will supposedly stop you from getting “stuck in a hay cart next to the Pantheon in the Bièvre district”. Seriously.
The one thing that it doesn’t fix, however, is the title’s framerate, which is still being worked on at the time of typing. The publisher has recommended playing offline to improve things, but Digital Foundry has since found that this doesn’t really make much of a difference at all. Still, at least steady progress is being made, huh?

Not a buy until they can get the framerate fix. Period.
Yeah, I'll keep playing Rogue and GTA PS4 until this is fixed.
@RawWilson1 I agree. Solid 30fps should be the minimum, especially on brand new hardware. Anything short of that, especially from big budget studios is, frankly, embarrassing.
I have to be honest, I have had no real issues whilst playing and I am loving the game
I've had several fall through the animas and stuck in a hay kart in multoplayer , been a few slow down bits but no surprised with the amount onscreen
I'll be playing it entirely offline when I eventually rent the game, I'd like to enjoy the horrific bugs, they're pretty funny. Imagine if they completely fix the game more or less in the next week, Sony/Evolution will look like dingbats.
Anyone think Ubisoft should come up with some sort of compensation all driver club? Maybe lower the season pass price or give some DLC away?
@imtom2002
Nah, everybody gets too worried about this compensation stuff. What we should be doing is screaming at these lazy, idiotic developers to deliver finished, working products out of the box so stuff like compensation doesn't even have to be discussed.
@RaymanFan2
I am nervous about what's going to happen Tuesday when not only GTA V hits, but Far Cry 4 as well. The way things are going lately, I'm expecting the worst. Not just on PlayStation either, but XBL as well.
@Gamer83 Your right, it shouldn't of been shipped if it wasn't ready and quantity should never go before quality. I was just hoping for some freebies as I'd already forked out for the game! Ubisoft are fast becoming the new EA.
@imtom2002
I shelled out for Halo and got a broke a$$ game so I know the pain. I get your side of it but to me I just look at it as a $60 lesson learned, no more pre-ordering games made by 343, they're too f'ing lazy to deliver a finished product? Well, then I'm too cheap to buy their future games at full price, if at all. Ubiscum is in the same boat.
@Gamer83 I've always kinda enjoyed assassins creed though. Even though they never really changed much I knew they were a decent investment for gameplay time while I waited for something else to come out. I should of learned my lesson with watch dogs. That was a horrible game and the amount of side "games" was amazingly disappointing just run somewhere and press square! Graphically it was poor too. I gave them another chance though as this was supposed to be next gen from the ground up, if a game has a review embargo that runs until it is released alarms bells will be ringing from now on. They were obviously afraid of the backlash they would of received. I'm not getting far cry now till I know it works well. I suffered with the same problem many are gettin with ac unity where they can't play unless offline in far cry 3.
I'm glad I don't have the time or money to play Unity atm. I'll just sit back with a cuppa and continue to watch funny videos.
While this game does have some bugs, I think this site exaggerates them (at least based on my experiences with the game). Whoever is dissing the game without even playing it has no room to talk. It's a great game with some non-game breaking bugs. Play before you judge!
@Mrskinner Thank you! Only other person on this comment thread that has played it and you like it, as well. People rely on the media way too much to tell them what's fun.
@zeldagaymer93 In a way, I kinda agree with you that people look too much in media for enjoyment out of games, the fact that there are silly bugs in the game, such as when character's faces go bye bye, is a major turnoff to many.
I'm not going to challenge your opinion. If you like the game, it's perfectly fine. I'm not really slamming Unity either, I intend on trying it after I play the rest of the series. But the sheer amount of bugs just seem like a half hearted attempt from the team that kinda makes it obvious it was rushed (Though the framerate issue just seems like a plain bad decision).
I usually don't have a problem with Ubisoft. I enjoy the games they've put out but they've also just made dumb decisions recently. I'm glad they're fixing the game, but this honestly should have been avoided.
@DerMeister I agree that the bugs should have been avoided. But what I'm saying is the media is exaggerating how often these bugs happen. My friends and I can play for a good 15 or 20 minutes before we encounter a minor bug. The biggest problem is some frame rate issues every now and then. But it's not bad enough to ruin the game (or justify a 5/10 review score)
@zeldagaymer93 I totally agree there is no way this game is a 5/10. That is a rediculously low score. This game is a solid 7 maybe an 8 to me. I love it even if it doesn't do much to change a formula that works for AC games
@zeldagaymer93 Maybe so. I honestly don't know since I haven't played it. I never personally slam a game unless I play it, since it's not fair to do so. Heck it seems like I'd pretty fun if not for technical issues. So maybe I shouldn't be talking about the game, but I'm not really giving a full opinion on it so, ehh.
Besides, I think most people's beef isn't the game or bugs themselves. Everyone's yelling at Ubisoft for not polishing it and putting out the game as it is.
@Bad-MuthaAdebis maybe they will, but it really seems like the most advanced our games get the more bugs that developers are missing. QA is at an all time low for the gaming industry lol.
@zeldagaymer93 Those issues in the FPS (frames per second) day age mean a lot to reviewers and gamers a like. And those bugs are probably happening way more for others.
Unfortunately QA is taking a hit and that's why articles like this need to be put out.
I don't usually pay to much attention to the comparison videos Digital Foundry posts on its youtube but I watched one where it was comparing the Xone and Ps4 versions of this . The XOne held pretty steady at around 30fps where the ps4 version dropped all the way down to 19fps and was really all over the place. Seeing as every other game that is multiplat runs smoother on ps4, could M$ have tried to pay off ubi due to co marketing ? Not only is this not parity.... It's straight up sabotage.... Just thinking out loud though I haven't read any news of this at all.
Played this all weekend having a blast the frame-rate ain't that bad I hardly ever see it. The game itself is very good really enjoying it.
