There’s been absolutely nothing kawaii about DriveClub’s disastrous launch, but the fact that the game’s good has made its issues all the more irritating. With new November DLC originally outlined in the developer’s post-release roadmap, we should be awaiting information on new vehicles and tracks right now – but instead, we’re patiently watching Facebook for server updates.
Sadly, we doubt that any additional content will be revealed until the title is fixed, but that hasn’t stopped some intrepid fans from uncovering a reference to Japan in a demonstration of the game. Currently the PlayStation 4 exclusive racer features locations such as Norway, Canada, and Chile – but the addition of a brand new nation would certainly add some visual variety to the already gorgeous game.
It’s hard to get too excited about this addition without any word on when the release will be fixed, though. While the game’s definitely improved, almost four weeks removed from its original launch, it’s borderline insane that it still doesn’t work as intended. In fact, you could probably actually drive to Japan in less time.

4 weeks later and the game still doesn't run as intended - after a years delay?
That is bad. Very bad...
@Dodoo Yeah, it sucks.
@get2sammyb I'm sure somebody at Evolution has had a right rollocking from the higher-up execs at Sony...
I'm still interested in getting the game but only when the problems have been sorted so maybe next year...
Yeah, this probably isn't a good time for the DLC talk. Imagine the ire it would raise if DLC made the rounds while server issues persist?
In the words of the almighty Triple H, that would not be "best for business".
Had totally forgotten about this game until I seen this post, not that I want to play it anymore though, wasted my 60 bucks on a streaming pile of crap
Honestly, after playing more and more of this game, my biggest frustration with it is not the server issues, it is the AI. They need to tweak it as a priority, because as it is, you cannot reasonably advance in the game. I cannot figure how you are supposed to drive against the AI and succeed. Other than random luck for a given race, it seems impossible at the mid/higher levels.
The AI, is just too aggressive, and when you are driving at high speed, hits you from behind, which regularly spins you out and make you crash. Race over. It ruins the game, because if means your race's success is largely random (not being hit by something else) rather than in control of your own driving.
If this was rare, it would be ok, but it happens in 80% of races. i.e. more often that not. Ruins the whole experience, and even when you are in front, with clear road, likely to be taken out by another car from behind at any moment and then finish last.
The server fixes will come, but the AI needs to be addressed. Especially in a racer that promotes clean driving, and penalises your for bumping. Pity the AI doesn't play by the same restrictions. I have largely lost patience with trying to advance in this game at the moment. Racing is just too frustrating. So disappointed.
The fact this game is still being sold is shocking. They should pull the game off shelves & take it down from PS Store until it works properly. Or change the packaging to reflect that consumers may not be able to play the game as advertised.
@Ginkgo Hmmm, that sounds bad, very frustrating and off-putting.
It sounds similar to the blue shells in Mario Kart where you get penalised if you race too well! Get too far ahead of the pack and you'll likely get bombarded by the cheating AI with blue shells on the last lap... It totally ruins the experience for me...
