Square Enix has a potential Final Fantasy XV launch window in mind, but it’s not sharing it publicly because producer Hajime Tabata fears that it “might take just a little bit longer than you’d hope for”. Considering that we’ve been waiting for this game for almost a decade now, that comment doesn’t exactly surprise us.
Still, according to the developer, the team is in high spirits after a strong Tokyo Game Show showing, and is currently recruiting additional staff to help hit its internal deploy date. “We have a general idea of what year and period [of the year] that we’re targeting for its release,” he told French site Gamekult. “And we’re at a stage where we’re putting everything toward [the release window].”
Personally, we can’t wait to play this on our PlayStation 8 in February, 2038.

well the fact they started again when it changed from vsXIII to XV explains it's long development time, but I'll I can't wait and hope it's some time next year but we will have Type-0 HD to fill the gap
They're going to make a lot of people upset if this joins that other highly anticipated game that just won't release (Oh what's its name)
From what iv seen it looks absolutley incredible. Cannot wait for this.dont care how long it takes as long as its ready when its released unlike striveclub
I honestly think this is a forever work in progress, the game will never get done.
FFVX will release when Ippo becomes world champ, so in 20 years.
@Cowboysfan-22 what game is that?
@FullbringIchigo its probably The Last Guardian
Gahhh, make the game already. I want to give you my money! Please, release it before next Fall. I want this game.
Realistically, my money is on February, 2016.
2016 at this point, I reckon. Just not sure if it'll be early or later, need to see what point it's at next time it's shown.
So... 2018 or later for KH3?
to that time the game will not even worth dogshit
Based on the ambiguity re the year, I'm agreeing probably 2016 at the earliest. Oh well, at least it won't be as bad as the wait between KH games, casually skipping an entire console generation...
Realistically I'm predicting late 2016 to early 2017 for the Western release.
June 2016. 10 year anniversary.
Sometime in 2016 would be my guess.
@Angrod nailed it. Who knows, they might've changed the name by now. They've had plenty of time to ponder it
I have a friend who wants this and KH3, but he only has a Wii U now. Thankfully he will have a lot of time to save money for a PS4.
@SteveButler2210 Actually this game HAS skipped an entire console generation.
@3Above True the game itself has, but I was just talking about the series as a whole - we got some mainline console FF games last gen, whereas KH hasn't had a new game on a home console since the PS2 days. Which I think is kinda worse, seeing as we've been waiting for the story to continue properly for almost 10 years now :/
Yeah....I'm not expecting this game anytime soon. I want this game to be good, so it's fine if they take their time, but this game is already close to being the next Duke Nukem Forever.
2016 sounds spot on. Late, late 2015 if we're REALLY lucky and Square's feeling generous.
@SteveButler2210 You're right. Hopefully Dream Drop Distance will get an HD rerelease that will have KH3 1hr demo lol.
this is getting ridicolous...
Well, we'll have Xenoblade X to fill that gap! I want to be excited for this game, but I feel like it will be a hellishly long wait.
As hilariously epic as "probably never" was, the correct answer is - 1 month after it's done.
On the bright side, PS4 has only been out a year so it should still make that, even though vs didn't make the PS3. The Last Guardian will never make PS3. Maybe PS4. And I'm still waiting for BG&E2 as well. At least U4 should release late next year so I can get a bundle for Christmas. The first person spotted playing KH3 will be Elvis.
One day in the distant future, when tiny implants in our hands with replace our controllers. Only then will give us a release date of... soon.
@Bad-MuthaAdebis My Dreamcast is hooked up to the tv - my kid is playing Sonic Adventure - and it's still waiting for Shenmue 2.
@Bad-MuthaAdebis - US Dreamcast never got Shenmue 2 and I've never had an Xbox product. I'm sure there are imports or illegal ways to play it in the US but I try not go go that route.
