We’re in the eye of the storm. Next week marks the release of the last few big holiday titles, and then it’s back to relative silence until the New Year. As such, this is another condensed issue of WAYP from our staff’s point of view – but we bet that you’ve got lots to talk about in the comments section. Without further ado, then, let’s get to it.

I’m renowned for my appreciation of bad games, so it’s probably no surprise that I’m enjoying Assassin’s Creed Unity more than I should. For the record, I don’t think that Ubisoft’s latest sandbox is bad in the traditional sense, but it’s clearly got a lot of problems. The setting – along with the lead character – has succeeded in pulling me in, though, and I can’t wait to play more.
Kell Andersen, News Reporter
This weekend I plan on digging into the big games that I missed because I was too busy writing stupid Uni essays. Of course, that's assuming that I even make it to my local game shop. My hometown is currently in security lockdown as we're hosting the G20 summit, and you can't look sideways without getting unlawfully detained. Shadow of Mordor might have to wait.
Nicola Hayden, News Reporter
I'm still playing Tears to Tiara II: Heir of the Overlord (yes, it is that massive) which is a happy distraction as I finally regret my decision to let my other half play Tales of Hearts R first. I'll be using the time, too, to use the Dragon Age Keep, so all of my mage's legacies will live on forever.

This is a weekend that will have me mired in the soul-draining land of studying and research. However, I did finish Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's campaign recently and it's a big improvement over Ghosts’ story and action. And despite the naysayers, I think that the exosuit changes Call of Duty enough to make it fresher than it's ever been since Black Ops. That includes the multiplayer as well – which I'd like to sneak some time with over the weekend if possible.
Nathan Michalik, Reviewer
I'll be working to reduce my Freedom Wars sentence and make my way up to Code 5. Otherwise, if I have time, I'll try to learn a couple more songs on Rocksmith 2014.
Simon Fitzgerald, Reviewer
I’ve been playing The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for the past week and have only reached the end twice, so I'll be trudging through those gory dungeons again this weekend. Also, if I have time, I may try to prestige again on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
Which of the Christmas blockbusters are keeping you busy this weekend, or are you desperately trying to clear your backlog ahead of next week’s big titles? Talk until you’re blue in the face in the comments section below.

Assassins Creed Unity, I won't let Ubisofts bad software problems affect a good story & co-op play
The Walking Dead - 400 days (psvita). Heard that it's as good as the first 5 episodes and so far it looks alright, but definitely not as interesting.
Murdered: Soul Suspects for me. Played forty minutes and I've done 29% of Trophies, which can't be right. How can the first Trophy you get (hunter or not) be a silver? Madness.
@naruball Only problem I had with the 400 Days DLC is the characters are all new so there's no attachment. Still very good but not quite as good as the main bulk of season one.
I'm 100 percenting Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. And I'm going to play Dynasty Warriors 8 for ps4, picked it up in the deal of the week sale. Inbetween these 2 I'm playing some The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth.
Got 3 ps4 games with the buy 2 get 1 free deal, with the intention of trading two in for 40 at GameStop to pay for my smash bros bundle. Just beat cod: aw this morning and I have to say it was pretty fun considering I'm not a huge fps guy. Not really bothered with the multiplayer though.
So with the other game I was planning on trading in (ac unity and keeping mordor), is unity even worth trying right now? I have to open it to trade it into GameStop anyway, so it would be a free try, I just don't want it to ruin my expectation of the game.
Picking up AC Unity with mah Arno statue monday!
Wild horses couldnt drag me away, bugs or no.
Killzone shadowfall, fifa15 and a little bit of the worse COD game ever released. Last time im buying a COD game. Go back to basics
Seeing as though I've had problems with Amazon, and Unity won't be here until Monday, I'll spend the weekend finishing Stick It To The Man and trying my best to reach the ending of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
i'll be playing some COD:AW clan wars is coming....or was it delayed?
not many people like advanced warfare. i love it. i'll also most likely play some minecraft, and finally i'll play through some unity. i haven't had the bugs some people have, some ridiculous frame rate drops sure, but it usually resolves quickly.
Borderlands 2 and Battlefield 4.
Oh and The Wolf Among Us.
Binding of isaac rebirth and more binding of isaac rebirth. Beat satan 4 times and isaac 3 times
Good to hear Sammy likes AC Unity despite its problems...I have little interest in it, but I'm a firm believer that bad games can still be worthwhile. Maybe have a "second opinion" set of mini reviews from the staff at the end of each review? (Kinda like EGM used to do, minus the horrible bias)
This weekend I'm playing COD AW. Kind of a love/hate thing with the multiplayer...on one hand, I've never been shot in the back and killed within seconds of spawning so much as I have with this game. On the other hand, this has forced me to learn the art of camping, which is more fun than it should be. My KD ratio has gone up significantly ever since I started playing this way, and I usually finish in the top 1-2 spots. Heh heh heh...
Still plugging away with FIFA 15 on PS4, also Mario Kart 8 DLC on WII U
Continuing my Vanquish playthrough, and also playing MK8 DLC, Smash Bros 3DS and probably Stealth Inc 2.
Finishing up on injustice (vita) then building a kingdom on Minecraft PlayStation Vita Edition just because I can ha!
Still muddling my way through Terraria on Vita and PS4. I STILL refuse to use an online help guide, so it's taking about 5000 hours longer than it should to get those trophies.
Just finished up Bayonetta 1 and Bayonetta 2, both of which rank among my favorite games of all time.
So many games piling up in queue so fast, it's gonna be hard to find time for all of them. I'm mostly playing Halo and Mario Kart 8 right now, but I plan on spending at least an hour or two with as many games as possible. With that said, here's the full spread I'm in the middle of playing:
Xbox One: Halo Master Chief..........Sunset Overdrive
Wii U: Mario Kart 8 DLC.......... Hyrule Warriors
PS4: Lords of the Fallen.....Cod Advanced Warfare.....Assassins Creed Unity
Vita: Tales of Hearts R..........Freedom Wars
3DS: Super Smash Bros..........Bravely Default
Wii: Metroid Other M..........Skyward Sword
And if I have time...
GameCube: F-Zero FX (AX Cup)
Goodness, once Dragon Age Inquisition, Far Cry 4, GTAV, Smash Bros U, Watch Dogs U, Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby, Persona Q and Captain Toad arrive, Idk what I'm gonna do! Need more time- too many games!
Well I finished The Wolf Among Us just in time for the new World of Warcraft expansion Warlords of Draenor to hit and the MK8 DLC so I will probably be playing those two this weekend.
Call of Duty AW on the PS4, Bayonetta 2, Stealth inc 2 and Mario Kart 8 on WiiU and Smash 3DS
Seems like im wanting to play FC3 again on PC
So since I posted, I gave ac unity a shot - after reading some comments online, I disabled my ps4 online connection to try and help the frame rate. I'm into sequence 3 and it hasn't stuttered on me once. Love it so far.
It's strange, but I think that Assassin's Creed Unity is less glitchy than Assassin's Creed 3 and 4. It's good that reviewers started to blame games for glitches, but at the same time it feels very hypocritical to me, considering previous glitchy iterations of the game. So far I had only one game breaking glitch. And it happened during very laggy coop mission. But overall new Assassin's Creed is very fun and enjoyable. Definitely not 5, i think it is 8 or 9, even with technical problems it has.
I just finished AC Unity's main story a little while ago. Now I'm just wandering the map playing around with side stuff. This will last me until the 18th when I pick up Farcry 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and GTA V.
Final Fantasy VII on my Vita
Halo CE Anniversary single player campaign. Wish I could get some multiplayer going but yeah, developers these days...
@Gemuarto
I must've lucked out, but I didn't experience any terrible glitches with AC IV on PS4. Don't have Unity and will not be getting it because I refuse to support developers that actively f**k over a fanbase, in this case the PS4 fanbase, to 'avoid debates' but I've seen some of the live streams and some of the glitches are kind of funny. I actually don't disagree with you that it's hypocritical in a way that past games, not just in the AC series but others, were allowed to get by with terrible bugs/glitches and not get called out, but the way I look at it, better late than never. Look at the way this year played out. Not only were there a ton of late ports but the laziness is beyond belief. DriveClub, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, AC Unity, Halo The Master Chief Collection, big time releases and all either glitch-filled or just totally broken messes out of the box. Alien Isolation had a game-breaking patch. F'ing stupid. I'm all for reviewers finally taking a stand. With the exception of Alien Isolation — which actually worked ok out of the box before that stupid patch-- all those games should've been given no better than a 5/10. I love the campaigns in Halo MCC and actually think most of those deserve an 8 or 9 but when multiplayer, which is half the game, is broke, well best you can get is half the top score. DriveClub, which is focused on the online aspect, should've got even lower than 5/10. Companies have been allowed to skate by for too long thanks in large part to huge outlets like IGN and GameSpot ignoring the bs and giving top marks to games that clearly don't deserve them. The time to take a stand is now, if the game is broke, it needs to get panned and suffer saleswise. I want to start getting finished products again. This 'oh it's ok we'll patch it later' nonsense has gotten out of control.
@rastamadeus
Just finished the third part of 400 Days and though I get what you mean, I still don't like the characters. I'll try to avoid spoiling it to anyone who hasn't played it yet, but let's just say I didn't really like the black teenager or the Asian criminal, especially the way he escaped. I did find the drug addict's story quite interesting, though.
As for the rest of the comments:
1. I think some of you are using the word "hypocritical" incorrectly. Hypocritical would be if people like Push Square reviewers gave a great score to Drive Club because it's a Sony exclusive and terrible to COD:AW because it's not despite both of them having similar online problems (I heard it's worse with DC). In that case, they would be inconsistent and it would be hypocritical of them to do so. But if at some point the change their review system across the board, then it's a change for the better. What should they do to avoid being called hypocritical? Never change/improve?
2. Bugs/glitches etc. I don't think it's due to lazy developers but because of the little time they have to make the games. Remember when Sony forced Nihilistic (or whatever they were called) to make COD vita in like 6 months? Of course a game made like that will end up being a mess. Same with Ubisoft and AC. Obviously Ubisoft wants to make as much money as possible and they know that by delaying a game and missing the holiday window, they will lose millions. At the same time, with what they are doing they're running their series to the ground.
I'm glad reviewers have finally become less forgiving and hopefully they will affect sales enough to force companies to give developers time to both make and test their games.
@Aaronzord You could not be more right. The sequel is mind-bendingly awesome. Utterly addictive as hell but my word some of the challenges are grinding to the extreme (if you're a completionist like myself).
@naruball Have you played season two yet? They all pop up in it, one of them in a main way. Maybe more do actually but with the choices I made was just the one. As for your glitches part, take a look at some Sonic Boom ones on Wii U - proof rushing games (and half your staff leaving midway through) isn't a good idea. Just like having a Sonic game where YOU CAN'T RUN!
@KAPADO Playing Ghosts are you?
@JaxonH Other M is a vastly underrated game. People whine about it because of Samus not being Samus but the game itself is solid. If it had come out before the Prime series - and what a game the original Prime is! - then nobody would have complained about it as it feels more of a classic Metroid than the Prime games.
@rastamadeus I was actually pleasantly surprised with other m. Much better game than what I expected - liked the gameplay.
@ztpayne7 If you go in with an open mind - as you should with everything, who cares if other people hate it, your own opinion is the most important - it's a great game.
@ztpayne7 Other M is a great game. I 100% completed it and enjoyed every minute of it. Weird how people didn't like it.
Completed the campaign of Advance Warfare, really enjoyed it.
@Wesker I think a big part was because of the commanding officer and how completely stupid it was that samus held her moves back to obey authority. Gee. I'm not gonna use my best move because Adam doesn't want me to. Haha. Beyond that it was good.
I'm still playing Red Faction: Guerrilla and regretting it (time wise). I mean I am having fun, but it's just taking too long.
I'll probably be switching over to something easier like Resident Evil 5 soon.
Transistor while waiting for FC4!
Same as these past few weeks, FFXIV. One of the best and most polished games on PS4.
PS3: PlayStation Home and Plants vs. Zombies
Xbox 360: 007: Quantum of Solace, Rayman Origins and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
Windows Phone: Earthworm Jim HD
