Doesn’t time fly when your game’s broken? Evolution Studios is already onto patch v1.07 for its PlayStation 4 exclusive racer DriveClub, but this does more than tweak the title’s busted online connectivity. The first new feature included as part of this update is Photo Mode, which will allow you to take snaps of your automobiles in all of their high definition glory. You can access the utility by tapping the right-side of the touchpad at any point while you’re playing.
Brilliantly, the patch also adds three new tracks – Yedapalli in India, Los Pelambres in Chile, and Wester Ross in Scotland – as well as support for the title’s free DLC, which is set to deploy next week. There are also changes to the collision and corner cutting penalties, as well as various other minor bug fixes, usability enhancements, and performance tweaks. Not a bad little overhaul, then, but it’s marred by the fact that the online connectivity is still shaky at best.
To be fair to the game, we did hop on a couple of nights ago and were able to play flawlessly, which is in contrast to the recent article that we wrote about the state of the release. Reliability seems to be the big issue at the minute, then; you can’t arrange a play session with your buddies and guarantee that it’s going to work when you log on. We remain hopeful that the Runcorn-based outfit will sort things out, though – after all, when it’s working, the title is ace.

"There are also changes to the collision and corner cutting penalties"
This is music to my ears as long as the changes are in favour of being more forgiving and not penalising me more!
I found the collision penalty in particular quite annoying and the computer AI controlled cars never seemed to get penalised for hitting me! Just the other way round!
The fact that I was off the course or slowed down as I'd hit a barrier was a penalty enough in my book, so why the game thought it was necessary to penalise me more was a bit confusing and annoying... The games hard enough as it is without being penalised every 10 seconds!
Maybe I'm just a bad driver...
@Dodoo Yeah, I believe it's more forgiving now - and I totally agree with you, that was a big oversight in the AI. They'll ram into you, and you'll get booked for it.
To be perfectly honest, outside of the server issues, that's my only real gripe about the game. Love everything else...
@get2sammyb Same. Love the game overall, just those few annoyances let it down slightly.
I actually hope the issues that has plagued the game won't put Sony/Evolution off turning this into a full franchise as I think it has the potential to be a Forza-beater...!
@get2sammyb @Dodoo
As somebody who just isn't an online gamer, the core single player racing experience is what I was most looking forward to in this title. Now that those collusion penalties have been addressed my initial excitement about the game is starting to return. I'll likely get a PS4 sometime in 2015, so hopefully I'll get this game in the end.
@Diddy_kong If you get a PS4 in 2015 then it'll probably be the best time to get this as it should be a lot cheaper by then and not to mention functioning 100% as it should!
I'm not a massive online gamer either but the club aspect and online functions I have played are nice addition, though they're not intrusive...
Nice. Sounds like things are starting to shape up. Hopefully this game gets a full trip to the body shop, as I hate seeing good games get marred by a serious problem.
I have a question about mp3 usb music, I've been syncing music from windows media player and some songs don't play? The file name is there but unable to play music? Is this me or is anyone else got a problem? I've used two usb sticks and there not Wright protected so why these problems? ? Anyone out that can help me I would be grateful.
I am really less concerned by the remaining online issue with this game than I am with the aggressive AI. It was ok early in the campaign when it wasn't that hard, but as you progress it just kills the game. Just sick of being driven off the road, especially when I am hit from behind.
Glad to see they have made some tweaks to that here, and with some new tracks I will try it out again. but really think the whole AI needs an overhaul. Either that, or I just cannot drive. I guess that is a possibility, but never had these issues with Grand Tourismo.
