It’s alright to feel excited about DriveClub again: the PlayStation 4 exclusive racer finally works, and is getting better by the day. Seriously, while you won’t ever hear us excuse the title’s atrocious launch, the game is very much back on track now, with challenges finally working flawlessly, and the netcode as smooth as butter. The developer has even addressed some of the title’s more minor irritations, such as control quirks and user interface issues.
And the game’s improved yet again today as part of the title’s 1.4GB update. As promised, this adds inclement weather into the mix, which means that a white Christmas awaits. However, it does more than that, adding two free tracks to the title – Atlanterhavsvegen in Norway and Sinclair Pass in Canada – as well as a bunch of enhancements to the core experience, such as the ability to map acceleration to the right analogue stick.
We’ve included the full list of patch notes below, so do feel free to have a read through. Remember, you can download this update while you’re busy doing other things by putting your system into Rest Mode. There are more instructions on how to do that through here.

I've tried the dynamic weather earlier today.... it is visually stunning (up to almost zero visibility ina snow storm) and it radically changes the car response. This is definitely not only a visual upgrade, it is gonna add extra "juice" to the gameplay.
Ha, bout the time I get this it'll be perfect
Finally. Hopefully getting closer to the plus version. Too bad none of this was there when it should've been despite the year delay. Evolution could've delivered a great exclusive that PS4 needed this holiday.
The more this improves , the more Id like to give it a shot. Visually it makes me want to grab it now and from what I've heard of the car handling it's probably one of the best this gen so far.... I just wish there were more cars...... I wish we had the plus version so I could give it a real hands on try.
With all these improvements and extra content, I've just bit the bullet and ordered this game for £29 from Zavvi. Was really looking forward to a decent racing game and all these on going adjustments leads me to have confidence they'll get it right eventually. Well here's hoping anyway!
So when is the PSN version coming out?
@Tasuki I read that it was rumoured for January but personally I can't see it being released until February and they've had longer to see how it copes server-side with the new Christmas players etc.
@Gamer83 @arnoldlayne83 That weather update sounds really exciting! and I really can't wait for the free version! Can't wait to be able to play some drive club in the next upcoming months.
Weather looks great! This game is really looking like the perfect racing game. Even though it had a bad start it is still a great game with great support.
The weather looks amazing (the game looks amazing). Handling is impacted which is great. The rain doesn't show in the rearview mirror which is just funny. They need to fix it, but it is not really an issue at all. Just so much eye for detail in other areas, it seems strange to miss, leave out.
The reduction in penalties (previous update) is also a welcome change. They are much more realistic and fair now. The AI does seem a little less aggressive, at least causing me to spin out less when hit. Though that may be my imagination (as I have not seen anything officially mention it).
Still struggling to progress though. I need to start playing it again now with the updates and see. I have probably lost my touch a little as I haven't been playing recently.
The rubber banding is causing me pain. Easy to catch up if you are behind, but once you have reached the pack, moving through them to advance is incredibly hard. Also, if you are in front, you basically have to drive a perfect race. Any touching a wall, gravel etc, and the whole pack passes you. 1st to 10th in the blink of an eye.
i.e. The game is not easy! Which is actually a good thing, but frustrating trying to advance through the tour section. I wonder if they want/expect you to drift more than I do. It is not my greatest skill. Better cars may help, you have to play a lot to level up to get them. It is a catch 22 sort or thing.
Still, there is a lot of good in this game, not just the visuals.
Downloading the patch, looking forward to it.
I finally purchased Drive Club yesterday. It should be here tomorrow.
Its $34.99 american dollars In the US and A amazon store.
