Well, we didn't quite see that one coming. PSone classic Final Fantasy VII is heading to the PlayStation 4, although to the disappointment of many, it won't be an unrealistic remake.
Instead, publisher Square Enix is bringing the PC version to Sony's latest console, and we've embedded the trailer to prove it. It's planned for a Spring 2015 release, but is this enough to pull you back into the baggy pants of Cloud Strife? Contain your astonishment in the comments section below.

In an era when everything gets remade or updated or re-released under a "definitive" or "game of the year" label, why would they not do the same for Final Fantasy VII and actually have the thing look modern?
Not the announcement of Final Fantasy VII coming to PS4 I was hoping for.
SQEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I don't care if it's just a port I'M GETTING THIS, I'll see if I can 100% it again like I did on PSX
@FullbringIchigo snap
This announcement just showed why SquareEnix is such a joke these days.
@Diddy_kong 'Cos it's not as simple as that.
So the same thing we can get on PS3?
I will tell my FF loving friend so I can sorely disappoint him.
@get2sammyb
I'm aware that it's not a simple matter, but people have been asking for this to properly be remade since the PS2-era. Why not actually please the fans for a change?
Three Final Fantasy 13 games?? Enough said...
Come on guys, Square took over 10 years to get this far with Final Fantasy XV — how on Earth would it have the time to properly remaster FFVII?
Not only that, but most of the original code for the game is unusable these days. It really, really isn't as easy as you'd think to even remaster FFVII.
If it has the pc music its going to ruin it.
Man I sat up in my chair when I saw the ff7 logo I thought they were remaking it I almost shat myself lol.. ugh it crushed me to see it only be a port. :/ it's probably my favorite game ever made so I've been hoping for a remake for a long time.
I was so so angry at this. Me and my bro were on the edge of our seats, damn ps1 classic. Already have 2 original copies on ps1, digital on ps3,vita & mobile.
Go to hell SE. The deepest darkest depths of hell!!
I would have rather it have been a remake of Final Fantasy VI. FF VII was such a disappoint after the greatness that was FF VI.
what a slap in the face
@Savino sarcasm my friend
Have to admit it's not the announcement I was hoping for. To be honest I preferred 8 and 9 anyway.
@Tasuki FFVI was my first ever real rpg. So I dunno if I hold it highly because of that, but in my top 3 of ff games, I shift back and forth a lot and that's frequently 1 or 2 (the other ones being VII and X)

Square Enix executive " Miss Yukkio could you arrange for my Revolver to be loaded and sent to me please?"
Miss Yukkio "Yes sir, right away sir...may I ask what this is about sir?
Square Enix executive "Oh nothing much, I just noticed bits of my foot was left from when I last shot it"
@ShogunRok Much easier its to release a mod-less version of a year old game that goes for about 4 dollars on steam on each sale right ? that almost any PC/laptop of the last 6-7 years could run
Trophy support ???
Wow, does bring back memories. Zero interest though.
If I want to play FF7 I can plug my PS1 in....Id rather not have the nostalgia trip of feeling like I was 16 again tho. Honestly don't see why another port of the game is so exciting, but I'm not big on replaying games from the past usually.
@Faruko Exactly, easiest option and the most profitable. People will still snap this up the second it's released.
That's why i decided to turn my back on Play Station. I own my game on my Ps3 and thus on my psp and vita. They could have simply continue the trend with the PS4 but nooooo we must rebuy our game again. I'v decided to move to Steam and a good PC. There, everygame you buy stays your ! And yes FF7 is on Steam !
For the love of god......JUST REMAKE THE DAMN GAME ALREADY! This is beyond ridiculous at this point.
If this has trophies, I may be interested in replaying this for the millionth time.
So it's just a port, not an actual HD remake? I'll pass then, can always play PS1 Classic version on my PS3 or PSP.
@Diddy_kong but by the time they had redone the graphics, added voices tweeked the battle system retranslated it and probably added difficulty options like many remakes do, it wouldn't be the same game we know and love, it would basicaly be like playing a different game with the same characters and story
the game was made for the PSX/PS1 and is just fine as it is it doesn't need remastering because no matter what they do or how much care they take it just wouldn't be the same FFVII
well that's how I feel about it anyway
My reaction to this getting an entire segment in the conference.
Does this count as a PS4 game (i.e. will it have trophies)?
Guys I'm from the future the ff7 remake gets announced next year at e3 2015
@SKC_Diamond That's not the future, that's the past and FFVII Remake is finally out
