With the press for The Order: 1886 being a bit bungled so far, Ready At Dawn needed a big showing this weekend. Unfortunately, tonight’s world premiere trailer at The Game Awards wasn’t quite what we had in mind. While it showed plenty of frankly jaw dropping cut-scenes, it was particularly light in the gameplay department. Here’s hoping for something a little more substantial at PlayStation Experience.

Garbage... Hopefully this, Until Dawn, and the indie sh*t are just glossed over quickly tomorrow and then Sony moves onto the real stuff.
This game really needs an amazing showing at tomorrow's (today's) event. I'm honestly starting to think it'll be 10 hours of totally linear, completely scripted gameplay. I hope I'm wrong, but they've shown very little else.
RAD blew it yet again. How do they keep messing this up ? Get it right tomorrow, its your last chance to win everyone over.
Everybody keeps saying wait for this event, wait for that event. I think it's a matter of there simply isn't anything to show. I'd love to be proven wrong Saturday afternoon, but they've messed up at every turn and this game isn't getting a year delay like DriveClub had. Sony unfortunately can't really allow something like that again either. What they have to do now, is find a way to sucker people in. There's a lot of PS4 owners starving for a good exclusive so they might be able to pull the wool over some eyes, one more time. This smoke and mirrors act isn't going to be able to last forever though. The fact is Sony's first party output has been a failure overall on PS4 up to this point. LBP 3- disappointment, Killzone- average at best, Knack- fail, DriveClub- complete and total fail. Enough, time to pull back the curtains and stop holding back also, I'm done putting faith in Sony that it has games. Have them? Show them, this is the last chance... Bend, Polyphony, Guerilla, Santa Monica, Japan Studio, Naughty Dog, hell just get anything from Sucker Punch... All those studios need to be at the PS Experience and hit some shots out of the park.
@Gamer83 "I think it's a matter of there simply isn't anything to show."
This is exactly what I've been thinking too. I can just picture the devs at RAD stressing, because they know people are expecting something that they just haven't made.
Frankly, my anticipation for this game is at zero - if it turns out great... Well, then great! But if it turns out crap... Then no big loss.
@Kage_88
I like the setting and the story seems like it could be good so I'm hoping to be surprised as well, but unfortunately no signs points towards that.
OMG how terrible let's sell our PS4s and buy a xbox one :/ 2 be honest I'm not bothered about this game . The PS4 is only just over 12 months old , we've got years an years of brilliant games to come
DAY 1 for me Not watched the video tho because wanted this game from day 1 (seem the past videos and loved ALL of what i have seen so far) I guess whatever SONY do show with this game it seems it will be slagged off anyway(seems the internet has it in for this game) Oh well.
This is so sad
@Carl-G What exactly is it you like about this game? All I see is cutscenes, QTE events and a great setting (Victorian London is always immense) wasted with predictable, bland crud trying to entice Gears Of Wars fans. Not trying to cause a barney, just wondering what you see that I don't.
I'm sure there's some Xbox fanboys who want to see this game fail but I know myself and many others criticizing this game own PS4s, why would any of us want it to suck? That makes no sense. It's not our fault everything that has been shown to this point is completely uninteresting. If it looks good to some people that's great, there's been games too that I've loved that many others just don't like but that doesn't mean anybody has is it in for the game. Something has gone wrong here and it's not the internet's fault.
@Rapidaz You're right but what @Gamer83 is saying that so far all these great games out or coming are not exclusive to PlayStation so what's the point in us choosing the console when we have nothing on it we couldn't play on Xbox One? Least Microsoft has Sunset Overdrive. What have we got thus far...? Sony are currently "winning" this generation but let's be honest, only because it's the cheaper console.
@rastamadeus
Doesn't even have that price advantage anymore, so at least here in North America, I see the tide turning quick. Also thought Forza Horizon 2 was another great X1 game this holiday. There were at least 2 good exclusives, Sony had a disappointment in LBP 3 and an utter fail in DriveClub, still can't believe people defend the latter.
this game looks epic.bring it on
@Gamer83 Oh yeah by all means Sony should just show every single exclusive they've got this weekend so when E3 comes around they won't have anything else to show. Saying Sony's first party has been a failure (after one year on PS4) is pretty subjective. Killzone got decent scores, Infamous was better, MLB was the usual high standard, TLOU was a wonderful port, Knack was ok but was hated from the moment it was announced (I guess people didn't want a old school challenging platformer) Driveclub was a total mess online but chances are that will most likely be a one off & LBP 3 got decent to good scores but a game like that relays on what the community creates. And from a sales point of view all those games (with the exception of LBP3) have sold reasonably well. So how you can say their first party is failing? If you don't like those games then fine but I wouldn't get hung up on every major gaming event looking for that "killer app" cos console gaming has moved on from the one game sells a system idea.
I'm happy for this game to be a completely on-rails cinematic experience. Hopefully they can do it better than anyone has done before. If you don't like this sort of game then you have a plethora of other games 3rd/1st person games to buy. Im so glad this isn't just another 'open-world' 'sandbox' game.
@adf86 Sony's exclusives have been a let down so far. Killzone wasnt the best, Infamous wasnt the best, MLB is sport, TLOU is a port, Knack wasnt the best, driveclub wasnt the best, LBP3 wasnt the best.
Arnt the games coming out on the new gen supposed to be the best? Nintendos new entrys are.
@eLarkos So MLB doesn't count cos it's sport...hmmmm. As for you saying those games "weren't the best" that's all your opinion. Nintendo may have some good games now but a year ago I seem to remember people had written off Wii U cos it had no games (might cos the console was only a year old...just saying)
Let's not turn this into list wars and focus on The Order. I'm not entirely sure what Killzone or DriveClub being a disappointment has to do with this, other than the fact that they're exclusives made by completely different teams.
@get2sammyb
Relevant to the discussion because this is looking like another first party disappointment.
@Gamer83 Fair enough. I still don't think we need to play list wars, though.
@adf86
Yeah, great point. I was totally saying they should show every first party game they have.
@adf86 I'm not talking quantity am I? and neither were you. Im talking about quality. I don't care how many games nintendo had in their first year - what games they did put out were the best. You continue to defend your point of view by picking out ONE game (MLB). You could look at what i'm saying and try to understand my point rather than continue to defend needlessly. Of course it is subjective, and if you think all these PS4 games are the best versions of theirs or similar franchises then wowee your a positive guy.
Im actually in support of this game saying that if it is an on-rails shooter then i'm hoping it can be the BEST on-rails shooter we have seen in a long time.
@eLarkos I will talk about quality instead. Infamous Second Son is better than anything Nintendo put out in its first year. That sounds subjective, but so are all of your opinions. I'd like to just say that what Nintendo games they did put out were NOT the best. By your standards I would say ZombiU was not the best, Pikmin 3 was not the best, Wonderful 101 was not the best...NSMBU could be considered too short and similar to what was done in the past. That's the first year. Super Mario World 3D wasn't the 3D game people wanted...Wind Waker was a port...heck, I'd even say Mario Kart 8 was not the best by your standards - just because I got bored with it pretty quickly. All this to say, you don't have the only opinion in the room. I personally though Killzone was the best in its franchise, but I know I'm mostly alone on that one.
@topic - Sony does need some more good first party games. I'm hoping the order finds some saving grace and Uncharted 4 shows some gameplay today.
@ztpayne Im not comparing Nintendo games to Sonys. Mario Kart 8 was the best, pikmin 3 was the best, NSMBU was the best, DKCTF is the best, 3D world is unbelievably good (first in the series, not a single glitch, looked fantastic). ZombieU and Wonderful 101 are third party games. Now of course this is all subjective, like you acknowledged, and im well aware that I am not the only person with an opinion. What im trying to say is that Sony's first party games have not been the best. Do you disagree? Do you think that Sonys games this gen have been better than what they have done in the past? No one is sitting in the Nintendo camp stating that Nintendo's output hasn't been up to their best. That is all im saying about Sonys current output - its not their BEST! You even admit that most people dont think Killzone was the best. So why are you arguing? People seem to get so defensive. Dont read any deeper than exactly what im saying.
Is that short video all they really showed? Really?
The only real reason to buy a xbox one is gears of war and halo everything else errrrr nope , sony has a lot more games I'd rather play on there console i.e uncharted , maybe God of war maybe a new killzone or maybe a new infamous or maybe a new resistance or maybe a new ratchet and clank or maybe a new gran turismo or maybe ............
@eLarkos We're not saying that Sony's have been the best but they haven't been average either. Unfortunately we're at a point now where any major release that scores a 7 isn't good enough anymore because of too much overhype from the media and consumers. For the record I was sold on The Order from the moment I saw it but yes I wish they would show a lot more gameplay.
Seems like this game will have too much story and not enough gameplay.
Ok, I'll just go ahead and say it- this game seems to have gotten everything right except the most important part- the gameplay (still a big question mark). The cinematics look beautiful, story seems compelling enough (for a video game), character seem well done- it's got all the right ingredients except for that main ingredient- gameplay.
But that's been a trend in AAA gaming for a while now. Cinematics, story, visuals, all that is easy to do if you've got enough money. Making a game where the hook of the gameplay is actually fun and addictive, well, that's very hard to do, and few do it well. That takes a special kind of talent. So most devs just poor in cash and raise the bar for all other facets of the game, hoping to mask the fact that the hook of actually playing the game is mediocre at best.
It is what it is. That's why I never judge a game based on how pretty the cutscenes look, or how "movie-like" the game comes across, or how well the characters and voice acting is done. At the end of the day, I want a game that's fun to play, not fun to watch.
Having said all that, I'm reserving full judgement until ample gameplay has been demonstrated.
Unfortunately this seems to be heading towards... Call of Duty: 1886
