Did you think that your PlayStation Vita had been sentenced to a future consisting only of cross-buy indie ports? Think again, as Square Enix has announced SaGa 2015 for the handheld system – the first non-mobile entry in its legendary sci-fi role-playing property in over a decade. The title was announced as part of a 25th anniversary live stream over the weekend, alongside a couple of pieces of artwork by series illustrator Tomomi Kobayashi.
Unfortunately, that’s all that we really have to go on right now, but we’re sure that more details will be revealed in the New Year. If you can’t wait that long, then it’s also worth noting that Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song, the PlayStation 2 port of the original Romancing SaGa, will be launching in Japan imminently as a PS2 Classic on the PlayStation Store. Of course, seeing as the 2005 port never even launched in Europe, don’t hold your breath for a Western release.

Genuinely surprised by this. Never played any of the SaGa games, but hey, if it looks half decent I'll give it a go - always happy for any reason to give my Vita some extra attention!
I only ever played Saga Frontier 2 and enjoyed it. Good to know it's making a return. As long as it isnt some port of an iOS game or something, I'm interested.
Really Square? How about giving us Vita owners a new FF game?
@ObviouslySheik true, it doesn't quite make up for type 0 HD not coming to vita, but hey, it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick! Could turn out decent
I've never played any of the SaGa games before, but I do have the PS1 titles on my GameFAQs wish list.
Oh SQEnix finally acknowledging the PS fanbase with an exclusive, damage is done.
Maybe when RoTR is on PS4.
