The decorations are up, the turkey is defrosting, and the television is awash with awful, old films – it must be Christmas time. While we usually reserve WAYP for Saturdays, we figured that we'd pump out a special edition to celebrate the season. The focus this time is on your holiday as a whole. Are you planning to clear out your backlog? Is there a particular Platinum Trophy that you're desperate to grab? This is the place to reveal your plans.

Every Christmas, I make grand gaming plans. I plot out a list of ten or more titles that I'm going to complete, before facing the crushing reality that the holiday consists of little more than a few days. This year, I'm going to focus on just a handful of releases: Assassin's Creed Unity, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and Grand Theft Auto V. I should be able to get through one of them, right?

'Tis the season to slaughter evil, and so I'll be brandishing blades as I dive into Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition. There isn't much better than getting fully engrossed in a fantasy world while being cosily wrapped up in a big jumper, but if the dreary colour schemes and copious amounts of blood bring down the festive mood, I'll be relaxing with the rather sparkly Tales of Hearts R, preferably in front of a lovely warm fire.
Ben Potter, Video Editor
Provided Father Cimbles treats me right, I'll finally be tucking into a hefty main course of Dragon Age: Inquisition over the break. The rest of the staff won't shut up about it, so I suppose that it's best if I just knuckle down and get on with it. For dessert I'll be polishing off LittleBigPlanet 3's oh-so-obtainable Platinum Trophy, and LEGO Batman 3 will represent those after dinner mint things that leave you feeling thirsty for some reason. Christmas!

'Twas the morning of Christmas, and all through the house, were the shouts of four drunkards, playing Johann S. Joust. With its rules so simple, and a challenge so fair, if they're not too careful, they might break a chair. But tucked in one corner, sits this handsome young scribe, playing Assassin's Creed Unity, and Frozenbyte's Trine. [Very good – Ed]

Now that I've broken the seal on Dragon Age: Inquisition, I'm looking forward to immersing myself in a nice lengthy RPG over the Christmas period. I just hope that it lives up to the high expectations that I've built, due to the frequent praise for BioWare's latest from the rest of the Push Square crew.

I've got such a backlog of games that I could beat one or two everyday over the holidays – and I still wouldn't have made a dent in it. As such, I think that I'm going to let my backlog lay, and just spend some time with the game that I play most anyways: NHL 15. I'm also tempted to replay the opening episode to Tales from the Borderlands – it was so great that I find myself wanting to enjoy it again.

I'm taking my Vita to our family Christmas, where it's become a tradition to play kart racers – especially since my brother's favourite genre is racing games. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be well appreciated; the Dream Valley course incorporates the sights and sounds of NiGHTS that I associate with the festive season, and the Chilly Castle snow track from Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg has a frosty winter vibe. Plus, I downloaded Resogun as an extra treat.

Since I'll be celebrating Christmas in Georgia and my own state, North Carolina, with all the relatives this week, I'll have games on my backlog and newly received ones to choose from and play. For my backlog, I'll make finishing Transistor and Metro 2033: Redux my main priority, but I would also like to speckle in some Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. With incoming gifts like Alien: Isolation and The Evil Within hopefully under the tree, I'll need to make some time for them as well and get my survival horror fix. Other than that, Merry Christmas to everyone!

With Christmas fast approaching, I've been tackling as much of my backlog as possible, recently finally beating Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Next up, nothing says Christmas more than tackling the horrors that await in The Evil Within. So far, I'm really enjoying how it feels like a Shinji Mikami game and brings back that classic Resident Evil style vibe. For all I know, I may have LittleBigPlanet 3 or DriveClub waiting underneath the Christmas tree to add to my list of games to play this holiday.
That's us done, dusted, and (partly) on our break. Do let us know what you'll be playing over the Christmas period below – and don't stop refreshing the site, as we've got loads of stuff lined up to keep you occupied over the coming days.

just messing around on Final Fantasy X HD
On holiday at center Parcs, dusted my Vita off playing Minecraft, Killzone, Wipeout. Merry Christmas to everyone at Push Sqaure
Grudge match on Smash 4 with my brother, something we've done since Melee days.
I'm almost finishing my Puppeteer Platinum, enjoy it more than i thought i would.
Far Cry 4, Destiny, Wolfenstein, Freedom Wars and Borderlands TPS... Actually just the first two, I'll just be checking and patching them all. There isn't enough time to play them all in time for Christmas Dinner (which doesn't take place in my house, but another family house so theres that).
Off topic: Is anyone watching the network premiere of Skyfall over here in the UK?
Plan to finish up AC: Unity and playthrough the Sunset Overdrive DLC.
I'll be playing Resogun and Wipeout 2048 on my Vita. And I'll also be finishing A Link Between Worlds, Shovel Knight, and Pokemons Y and OR on my 3DS. Yeah, my break is 3 and a half weeks long...
My Christmas might not have much gaming as it is filled with such maddness I even missed this post! =( I'm getting The Evil Within as a Christmas present tomorrow so I'm hoping to play that when I can. The evil corrupting powers of Dragon Age and Freedom Wars may delay this however.
Maybe continue the Evil Within and 100% Captain Toad.
Merry Xmas to everyone by the way!
I'll be exploring the depths of the Moscow Metro in Metro 2033 and Last Light as I got both last week for the Holiday Sale Week 3 and I'll be looting and killing for money and glory in GTA V!
Cheers everyone!
Assassin's Creed Unity, The Evil Within, and Uncharted 2.
Provided I get for christmas what I would like to, I'll be playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, Shadow of Mordor, GTAV, and Assassin's Creed Unity. Free time is a nonentity in my life for the next two weeks!
I'm gonna build the Grand National horse track on Minecraft while breaking open the third emergency bottle of Bourbon...
No reason, but someone's got to.....
Merry Christmas everyone!
My 4th playthrough of Re;Birth1.
Will probably play some Smash Bros and Mario Kart with my siblings as well. Or Left 4 Dead 2 or Age of Empires 2/3 depending on what they wanna do.
@sinalefa - You can't play the Evil Within at Christmas, just keep playing CTTT.
Hey Sammy is that you in the photo?
Company is coming, enjoy the holidays everyone. Oh, Illbe playing SSBU and maybe some Eye Pwtand Friends to emntertain the little ones. The resthas to wait until after the familyholiday season is over, maybe Sunday.
@rjejr It's not, no.
GTA V (it's been snowing in los santos, yeah) and Lords of the Fallen.
Besides that, I don't celebrate christmas!
Bit of cod on xmas eve, fifa 15 and maybe a little bit of da:i later.
Recently bought a bravia led lcd and tweaked all the settings so picture is vivid and not all washed out like the factory presets. Motion Blur on lcd led is not great, wish I knew this a bit before. Still rocks though.
Gta for xmas and a new ds4 hopefully as the dreaded rot on one of the original pads is shocking ( will be replacing with the xbox ome sticks as perfect fit and the replacement ds4 sticks just do it again ) just needed two pads in use before tinkering with this one.
@rjejr
Actually The Evil Within is the game I am currently playing with my brother, so it counts to me as bonding time. He is usually turned off by cutesy games so no CTTT for him.
None of us are religious persons so we don't mind the gore. I do hope you enjoy the Captain's adventures. And if I cannot play TEW on Xmas, that means you won't be able to play Bayonetta 2
My gaming plans for tomorrow are simple. Unwrap Destiny, and play lots and lots of Destiny. I've decided to take a more minimalistic approach to games this holiday season.
I bought myself a copy of Bioshock Infinite, and I'll probably download some Final Fantasy games on my Vita!
Killzone Mercenary on Vita as well as Mortal Kombat, PS4 I'll be playing Rayman Legends, Shadow Warrior, Shadow of Mordor and Alien Isolation. Although, I might ignore all that and start a second play though of dragon age inquisition.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi kz mercenary is a great game! Dont suppose you've played unit 13? It looks okay, wondering if worth a look?
Its probably going to be Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition and WWE 2K15 this Christmas for me both with my son.
Have a Happy Holiday everyone!!!!
@Zep_Fan_81 I have played unit 13, personally I just hated it, I've not yet touched mercenary, I would recommend resistance burning skies, but then I enjoy the the resistance franchise more than I should.
@Zep_Fan_81 Unit 13 is one of my favorite vita games.
I'll be playing GTA V on PS4 and smash bros on wii u! Happy Holidays Pushsquare!!
Need for Speed: Undercover on Windows Phone while out with the family for the holidays.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi bad mechanics? Or just poor all round? Resistance, ill take a look, thanks.
@Ps4all it reminded me of socom from what ive seen. I liked socom, wonder if that will ever grace the ps4?
@Zep_Fan_81 Not likely since Zipper Interactive was closed down. Its too bad. MAG was really ambitious.
I'm going to try to 100% Crash 1, and probably keep doing my pacifist run of MGS3. I hope a last minute miracle happens and I get new games, cause I've played most of my library ad nauseum by this point.
@Tasuki If you haven't yet played Ultimate Evil then you are in for a treat, the add on is top dollar!
As for me, GTA V still, it is hands down the funniest multiplayer free roam I've ever played!
@dellyrascal What bourbon?
Jim Beam? Or my new fave, Wild Turkey?
Plan to put the final wraps on Far Cry 4. Finished the main storyline, now just focusing on the side stuff and trophy collection. If GTA 5 is under the tree, that will be next. Saving Dragon Age Inquisition for last.
@Zep_Fan_81 hard to say,I bought and played about ten minutes of it and then sold it, sometimes you try and give a game a chance but it just doesn't do it for you, the controls for me just felt off, so did the difficulty level
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi oh ive had games just like that, thanks for the heads up
@Zep_Fan_81 funny you say that. Unit 13 was made by Zipper who made Socom. Unfortunately Zipper was shut down so I don't think we will see another Socom. Shame too, I really enjoyed Socom an loved MAG, probably my favorite shooter ever.
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya Wild Turkey. on the rocks in a cold tumbler..
@Zep_Fan_81 I doubt there'll ever be another SOCOM. The Last of Us multiplayer captures a similar vibe, though.
@dellyrascal connoisseur of great taste!
...... What else, DA: Inquisition. Have a merry Christmas everyone
@get2sammyb your actually spot on there, I think thats a good enough reason to have another crack at tlou multiplayer:-)
@Ps4all I didn't know zipper made both those games, makes sense. MAG must of slipped my radar, Im really curious about that one...thanks
@3Above thats a shame, Socom games were a big deal, ill read into what happened
Seems like zipper interactive got some tough breaKS with sales of MAG And socom 4 coming out when the psn was totally offline, and well unit 13 was on vita... shame, I could do with a socom on that ps4, would feel, familiar...
@Zep_Fan_81 TLoU MP is arguably one of the most underrated experiences of 2013.
Extremely well balanced and extremely great fun!
Dragon age inquisition, cod aw, smash bros and possibly mario kart 8
PSN is down AND I FORGOT TO ACTIVATE MY PS4 SO ARGH.... I deserve to be slapped.. I'm stupid
Wanted to build a snow/ice castle in Minecraft, lvl my 2nd Destiny character to lvl 20 and finally continue Alien Isolation....but I'm stuck with Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. Not that its a punishment! Pokemon remakes are HEAVEN. (yay! My ugly Gloom Bailey transformed into a graceful Bellossom)
I'm in my cozy room with my Sony PS Gold Headsets playing some GTA5 on my PS4 in first person on this Christmas eve night. I'll probably have it finished tonight. And with the Christmas money I get I will be picking up Dragon Age Inquisition and Far cry 4. I'll probably finish Far Cry 4 this weekend, and put as many hours into DA:I as I can before Tue Christmas break ends.
Gotta get dat Skyrim plat!!!!
Waiting for the Minecraft update (Come on Sony!), and hopefully playing more of that.
Aside from that, I got no new games. Just playing with my emulators and driving down memory lane.
Disney Infinity for me. I'm getting Venom and my daughter is getting Elsa and Anna. I got my wife Aladdin. Now that I think of it, I may not get a chance to play if my family gets characters they'll want to play. Foiled again by Christmas!
Have a wonderful Christmas everyone!
Kingdom Hearts II.5, Destiny, and Pokemon Omega Ruby will all be getting some attention tomorrow, considering I got those all early. Already loving KHIIFM and Pokemon, and I had a lot of fun with the start of Destiny when I rented it.
I just got my system, and ill be tearing into my copy of GTA V first, i previously made it through the game on last gen consoles but can't wait to see the new first person mode.
I'm playing Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Hyrule Warriors. :3
Awwwww, merry Christmas everyone. I'm glad all of you are enjoying these great games. My wife surprised the heck out of me last night when she made me unwrap my first gift. It was titanfall for xbox one. I felt that she made a huge mistake because I don't have an Xbox one!!!
Sure enough she goes under the tree and pulls out this giant box and it's the unity bundle. I felt like that one guy in the video where his wife surprises him with a ps4 but made him unwrap the dualshock 4 first. I told her I love her and I also told her I hated her. Lol. I couldn't believe she spent that kind of money on me.
One of my biggest disappointments this holiday season was seeing all the games I have go on sale for like half off for the most part. I have a tendency to buy games the day they come out. I'm an impatient gamer. Maybe next year I'll work on waiting for when they go on sale.
I have a huge backlog. I'm not complaining though. I'm such a huge gamer that when I see my backlog I feel like I'm in paradise. This is what I'll try work on during the holidays:
Advanced warfare, black flag, diablo 3, titanfall, the last of us remastered and that doesn't even put a dent in it. Anyways I'm done yapping. I'm gonna go fire it up and get cracking on this backlog.
Have a safe christmas. Don't drink and drive.
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya: I have been playing it for the past few weeks (got it as during PSN's Black Friday sale) and I can't agree with you more. As much as I liked Diablo III, all the stuff they added on RoS makes it feel like a whole different game. RoS really has made me remember why I love the Diablo series so much.
@sinalefa - B2 is on the back burner as after months of deliberating what to get to stream Amazon Prime, Netflix, HBO go and Hulu Plus to my tv decided on a PS3 over PS TV, Roku 3 , Roku Stick, Amazon FireTV, Fire Stick, and Chromecast. I wanted PS TV but it doesn't stream much. Fire Stick was out of stock until Jan 6, Chromecast doen't Miracast w/ my Tab 4 and I just wasn't feeling Roku. So I got a 12GB PS3 w/ Disney Infinty 2.0 for the kids. Though the kids weren't feeling it so the whole thing may go back. (Haven't opened it yet, too busy all day, same for tomorrow and Saturday, the receipt says have until Jan 7). I it goes back more Skyladners and B2 and a Fire stick for me. Well see
Hope you're enjoying time w/ your family, 2 days down, 2 days to go for us. I was in my aunts house w/ 30 of us for desert tonight, 4 grandparents, 14 adults and 12 grandkids. Wild. Though technically 1 was related yet, but my cousin marries her in March so close enough. And she can't wait to have kids so even more of us next year. Family is good.
I'm still playing Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition (PS3), I just completed Chapter 5-3: Uroboros Research Facility.
