Just because it’s almost Christmas, we’re not pulling the plug on WAYP. This is your last vanilla edition, before we run a seasonal special sometime next week. We’re finalising Game of the Year here behind the scenes, so there may not be too much time for actual playing – but hey, if you can’t put your feet up over the holidays, when can you?
Sammy Barker, Editor
I have a list of things to do longer than my left arm this weekend, but I’m still hoping to sit down and play something these coming days. Assassin’s Creed Unity, Loadout, and Grand Theft Auto V are all on the agenda – but I know that I’m just going to end up booting DriveClub, because it’s just so pick-up-and-play.
Robert Ramsey, Associate Editor
This weekend is all about finishing games off before receiving a few more as Christmas gifts. That means that I should be struggling to get 100 per cent completion in Samurai Warriors 4, winning the Premier League in FIFA 15, scouring the map for any missed optional content in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and blitzing through Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. But in reality, I'll probably just hop on Grand Theft Auto V and cruise around Los Santos while listening to Danger Zone.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is taking up the majority of my time this weekend, and when I say 'The majority of my time', I actually mean 'What little time I have in which to play games', as this weekend I'll be preparing some wonderful Game of the Year videos for deployment as we unveil our picks towards the end of December. Anyway, the game's pretty good if you're into wool and stuff.
Kell Andersen, News Reporter
I don't actually remember buying Assassin's Creed Unity, but it must have happened, because the box is currently sitting atop my PS4 – an effigy [Good word – Ed] to my lack of self control. In any case, I guess I should probably play that, since I apparently paid cash money for it.
Nicola Hayden, News Reporter
This weekend, I’ll admit that I am a Dragon Age Inquisition addict again, just in case you missed the conclusive evidence in Ben's Game of the Month video. All of my spare time is spent going through every single nook and cranny that this game has to offer. I'm still playing my other addiction of Freedom Wars as well, but only when the Vita is my only option.

This weekend, I'll be playing Cosmophony on the PS3 – a game that demands a level of perfection that at the moment I'm falling well short of. When I need a break from its brutality, I'll also be trying to finish Sunset Overdrive [Hmm? – Ed] as I've only been able to chip away at it over the past month or so.
Graham Banas, Reviewer
I'll be diving into Super Mega Baseball, a game I've been hearing some good things about – hopefully it's as fun as people say. If there's time, I might play a bit of NHL 15, too. It's looking to be a very sporty week for me!

An atmospheric game set amongst a blizzard, or with wandering deer and footprints in powdery snow, would be fitting this time of year. The Tall Trees area in Red Dead Redemption is a possibility, although a part of Sunday evening spent with the winter section of The Last of Us Remastered is more likely.

Christmas break! It's high time to catch up on my growing game backlog. I just finished Wolfenstein: The New Order, which is a surprisingly wonderful shooter with heart. But this weekend, I would like to dive into whatever I can. I need to start back on Transistor, might begin my long overdue sailing into Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and sneak in some Pokémon: Alpha Sapphire as well. Long story short: I gotta play as many games as possible for the next month with what little time I have.
Simon Fitzgerald, Reviewer
With the success of last weekend’s Destiny raid attempt, I will now be putting all of my new gear to use in some Crucible matches. If I get around to it, I may also try out the PS4’s latest free-to-play title, Loadout.
What are you playing this weekend, then? Will you be spending the next 48 hours conked out in front of your console, or have you got last minute shopping to do? Let us know in the comments section below.

I'm having another go around with Hitman: Absolution. I had forgot how much I enjoyed that game.
Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters (PSP)
Zelda: Spirit Tracks (DS)
Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (3DS)
Game & Watch Gallery (3DS VC)
Haven't actually started Alpha Sapphire because I'm focusing on beating the other games first, but I'll definitely get around to it once I'm done with them.
I'm still trying to beat Jak 3 (as of the time of message, that is).
I might also play some Super Smash Bros for 3DS too.
Playing stick it to the man, 4 chapters done already. I love christmas holidays.
Work gets overwhelming this time of year, and coupled with all the usual holiday stress, I'm trying not to go insane. Hopefully I can work in some Dead Rising 3 at 1080p on my PC with an X1 PC controller, heh heh.
Also just ordered a Vita! Planning on playing the Atelier Plus games, Danganronpa, and UC Golden Abyss before UC4 raises the bar too high to look back. Plus, the idea of driving out where no one can reach me and playing some PS3 quality games has become very appealing.
well my weekly Storm Revolution tournament of course
but also, Budokai 3 HD, geting ready for Xenoverse
and I recently started a new save on Final Fantasy IX
@kupo tell me about it, this is my last 2 proper days of until after new year (got xmas day and new years day off of course, who would work in retail eh?)
I'll be playing Mount & Blade: Warband- Viking Conquest (It's new DLC.) I'll also probably play another game that is unknown.
Pokemon saphire (3ds)
SMT IV (3ds)
Toukiden age of demons ( playstation tv/ vita)
@kupo Persona 4 golden and Toukiden are games i recommend.
Wolfenstein The New Order, Joey is right about it, I am loving it personally. Suprised me it took me away from DA:I ang GTA V
@FullbringIchigo These days, I think that's all anyone gets for time off. Hopefully you don't work until midnight on Xmas Eve, haha...
@Sanquine Thanks. P4G is way up on my list, but I'm scared it will demand too much time...80 hours, I hear? I like to be thorough in my RPGs, so I'm usually 1.5x the expected time....so, 120 hours, yikes! As for Toukiden, I'm planning on trying it on PS+ along with a few others I had the foresight to redeem.
I'm still playing xtreme legends dynasty warriors 8 complete edition (I think this is the fourth week I'm playing that game).
but thursday I'm finally going to play some new game. little big planet 3, dragon age inquisition and either GTA V or AC unity but that stays a surprise for me until thrursday.
@kupo working until 9pm (21:00)
When I find time:
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
CounterSpy
Freedom Wars
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Loadout
after tonight i have five days off of work, and i just bought a ps vita (traded mine in for ps tv, not a good idea) so i'll be minecrafting on the go. even though i won't be going anywhere. and toukiden: age of demons. i miss that game.
Dragon age, I'm nearly done with the main story and the side missions are nearly all done too, just a few bits and peices left. If I finish I'll be back onto rayman legends for a quick play through.
Rest of the weekend it will be FIFA 15 on PS4. Then Monday onwards I'll be dusting the VITA off while on Xmas holiday at Center Parcs during the Christmas period (Minecraft, Killzone, Need for Speed etc)
@kupo I found The Unfinished Swan to be a nice fit for Vita as well as Thomas was Alone, Limbo, and PS AllStars. Be sure to check for any PSPlus games you already have that might be crossbuy cause the Vita versions should be downloadable too. And dont forget Gravity Rush!
Well wont have much time to game this weekend due to work and the last bit of Christmas shopping I need to do.
If I do get game time I will be playing Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition on the PS4 as I am seriously hooked on that game.
Ill be at work till 11pm and iv got 3 days off spread out for the rest of the month. But tonight after work and dinner ill be on performance test 6 in Transistor. I have vowed to plat () that game before the year is over and I only have the last 2 performance tests left to get it. I'll also try to get as far as I can in Titan Attacks across PS4 and Vita. Cant wait for RE Remastered and Grim Fandango next month!
I'll be trying to finish up Persona Q on 3DS, then I'll probably move on to Valkyria Chronicles on PS3. I've heard it's an amazing game
DA:I, absolutely absorbed with this game. Graphics are wonderful but boy does it work the ps4, so noisy constantly.
On a sort of related issue re noisy ps4 ive already had one replacement console and got an email from Sony yesterday about 'protect your PS4'. Well here in UK it was a special price of £49 instead of £70 for that day so I figured 2 years of peace of mind was value for money. Anyone else took Sony up on this one?
@BetweenTheTrees so you traded the vita for PSTV and then got a vita again? Good call, vita is a great piece of Sony hardware. What model? The slim was out when we got ours but after a little research I opted for the original Wi-Fi model with the gorgeous OLED screen.
@Zep_Fan_81
yeah, i thought the pstv was gonna blow me away so i traded my vita for it. i almost immediately regretted it, my first vita was the OLED which was gorgeous, but this time i got the new vita slim model, it was a killer deal i couldn't pass up. i just hope the LCD/OLED doesn't make that huge of a difference.
Got Driveclub for £25 quid off eBay , been blown away with it , absolutely fantastic . Glad I ignored all the cranks complaining about it who've not actually even played it. Its brilliant. Their loss.
@BetweenTheTrees been and done things like that myself, well I reckon PSTV will hopefully have some use for you, fairplay for taking a punt at it.
I think the screen difference will probably be minimal but I haven't owned an OLED and was curious. Saw LG advertising OLED TV's here in UK.
Got a good deal? Hope vita has a good xmas, more games needed for it!
@MinerWilly you got it at a good point in its development. Ive stuck with it but its been a rough ride from launch day.
@Zep_Fan_81
Yeah i got a pretty good deal. if i wouldnt have i would have bought the original oled vita
i still have a lot to catch up on with the vita but some new knock out games would be great. something to be excited about
I want to try to get some games of Tekken Tag 2 in, but my internet connection isn't the sturdiest. I've been trying to improve my Lars and Hwoarang so I have a true main. If I can't, I'll just replay MGS3 or start a new save on Infamous 2 so I can get the platinum.
@3Above Yeah, I'll have to go through my Downloads list to see what exactly I laid claim to for PS+ in the past. I remember being too lazy to redeem the Vita games for a long time, but I think I have most of those. Gravity Rush gets priority since it's an exclusive...but knowing my luck, it'll probably be ported to PS4 in HD right after I beat it.
@FullbringIchigo Well, could be worse. If it's retail, I used to find that if things are slow, you can just ask to go home. Judging by how many people I know still haven't bought anything for anyone, though, the last-minute-shopper mentality seems to be alive and well this year.
@MinerWilly Yeah, now it's working it's gone from one of the biggest disappointments of the year to one of the most underrated. Fantastic game.
007: Quantum of Solace (Xbox 360) - My 2nd fav Bond game
Cut the Rope: Experiments (Windows Phone) - I'm hooked
And my usual grind of PlayStation Home
Well the last day of school for XMAS break was yesterday. Now it's time to relax and spend some quality time with my favorite console, the Sony PlayStation®4. I'll be in Los Santos messing around on GTA5, I love the first person mode. I'm waiting to get my Christmas money and picking up a copy of Dragon Age Inquisition for my PS4. Can't wait I was a huge fan of Skyrim and I hear this is way better than Skyrim anyone else agree with that ?
@kupo I know what you mean but if it does get port its another doable platinum.
@Link41x yeah i have 34 more days to log in I think, then ill get that 50 days trophy and 100%. That will be my final farewell to PS Home ; (
Well I WOULD be playing the early access to the halo 5 guardians beta because I got my codes sent to me yesterday but I'm away at work until Monday and the early access only lasts til Sunday :/ really sucks ! I even have my console with me in the hotel but 12 hour night shifts just don't go together very well with gaming lol
Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time. It's like someone took Jet Force Gemini, added in characters out of a bad '50s Warner Bros cartoon, tried hard to be funny and then realised they'd forgot to add in anything other than shoot/jump/repeat. Not been so bored by a game in ages. Probably move on to Far Cry 4 tomorrow as after watching Arsenal give us a hiding playing R&C:ACIT will probably bore me into suicide.
@MinerWilly Most of the 'cranks' complained when it wasn't working and said it looked a good game but never worked. Not a surprise people are enjoying it now its finally working. But the one thing people love to moan about more than anything is moaning about moaning.
@rastamadeus Dont do it!! But if you do, do it The Individual Eleven style atop a radio tower with a grandiose speech and samurai swords.
Also try Velocity 2X its alot more fun.
@3Above Forgot all about Velocity 2X, may go on to that instead. Oh, and it likely would be that way haha. Or get a gun, take out all of One Direction and then laugh myself to death.
@Dohv I think if you enjoyed Skyrim your going to be very happy playing dragon age inquisition, its high fantasy epic and graphically, well wait and see, best choice for your money out there imo.
It has its differences but once you embrace it, you really get into it. Im brushing up on the dragon age lore as never played the previous games so you can see it gets it hooks in you...
@rastamadeus are you moaning about people moaning about people moaning? (My poor humour - sorry
@Zep_Fan_81 Thanks. That's awesome. Really looking forward to that one.
@Dohv Inquisition and Skyrim are both big fantasy games with great character customization and absorbing open worlds, yet they play very differently, as DA:I takes a more tactical approach with it's combat. That being said, DA:I does scratch the itch I've had for a long time after switching from 360 to PS4 and not having Skyrim available to me. The amount of content is great too and you'll undoubtedly be playing it for 100+ hours if you loved Skyrim.
Gardening in GTAV : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og6V1xMOQms
Replaying the Tomb Raider reboot, with a little bit of Smash Bros. for Wii U on the side.
@iDangerMouse_ Sly 2 was the best imo. Sly 1 was the easiest to platinum followed by 2 and 3 and 4 in that order. I lost my save on Sly3 with 75% and havent gone back yet. I was burned out after my 1st play through of Thieves in Time.
As the inquisitor, I must forfill my duty on Dragon Age this entire weekend. My girlfriend said she is going to punch me if I refer to myself as the inquisitor again lol.
This weekend i have been mostly playing Skyrim legendary edition on the ps3. And a bit of wipeout ps3.
I'm still playing Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition (PS3), I just completed Chapter 4-1: Caves.
Silent Hill Downpour and Crash Bandicoot 2
In the meantime while I'm not so busy at work cause I'm a full time chef and Christmas is such a joy at the moment to be working I enjoy putting me feet up playing either Shadow of mordor as recently an inspired new DLC has rolled out and trying to complete the last of us before I get my christmas prezies 😜
@Zep_Fan_81 my ps4 makes loads of noise when playing the last of us remastered but only that game though, I got a bit worried so I stopped playing TLOUR and brought the ps3 version instead to play
still not sure what is causing it though
@FullbringIchigo I have tlou:r but i cant remember it doing that, ill fire it up later and see, i must of been so engrossed.
Yes it worries me a lot as the Ps4 is part of my daily life and when it went back for nearly 2 weeks man was I lost. Ive taken put 2 year ps4 protect with sony but hope i never need it.
I read somewhere that it may just be developer coding but i havent the knowledge to say that myself, just seems the really intense graphical games work the system more. Also i think the newer produced ps4 batches are a bit quieter by all accounts, mine was launch but im not sure if they replaced or repaired it as my records of serial numbers got mislaid.
I have the console vertical as it seemed more air would get around it where mine is positioned. Who knows? Apparently also it is the noisier of all the next gen consoles but again i dont have that experience myself, jut what ive read ( but it certainly is the beast of them all ).
Uncharted trilogy. So can't wait for 4
Finished GTA V story during the week, so after the lastest patch I've finally started AC Unity on PS4.
Didn't try it before the latest patch so can't comment on launch issues but I've had no problems at all and the only frame rate issue I noticed was doing a 4 player co-op with us all using smoke bombs and it wasn't game breaking. It's just £25 on Amazon atm which is a steal as its a stunning game in my opinion.
Apart from that just a bit of Resogun on vita. It's very good but the fiddley sticks on the vita make some of the precise movements needed on vet+ bosses coupled with some dodgy collision detection a bit frustrating. Fun though and it was free so can't complain.
@Zep_Fan_81 yeah it's noiser than the xb1 and Wii U
thing is my ps4 is a launch version too and as I saved for it, if it breaks I can't afford to replace it so I'm just being extra cautious still I could always fall back on my xb1 if I had too (thank's to my bro buying me one for xmas last year )
@FullbringIchigo see if you can get 'protect my PS4' off the Sony store website, it was£49 for 2 years here in UK, worth a look as console goes for £ 309 cheapest here! Makes sense if you can do it.
@FullbringIchigo
When I swapped my PS4 hard drive for a 2TB drive, I recall the system being extremely noisy the first time I booted up a game afterwards. So I ended up doing some research, and it turns out that it's a fairly common problem to have the fans running full speed when they shouldn't be. Glitch in the system or something. Bottom line is, I don't know what causes it or anything like that, but from what I read it's nothing to worry about. It might be annoying as heck but if anything it's keeping your system cooler than normal, so I suppose that's really a good thing if you think about it.
If you do a Google search I think there's a few fixes for the fan problem. Can't promise they'll work but it might be worth looking into...
Had to work all weekend, and go shop for a new recliner, so there hasn't been much time for gaming. Nonetheless, here's the spread for this weekend:
PS4: -nothing-
Xbox One: Forza Horizon 2
Wii U: Captain Toad
Vita: Tales of Hearts R
3DS: -nothing-
@3Above Wait a minute...how do you play PS+ free games when you're somewhere that doesn't have internet?
Still trying to plat Skyrim. Gotta beat Pkmn Y before Xmas heh.. Sims 4 got a little update, and I got SimCity 2000 for free on Origin
@kupo Once they are already downloaded you're fine. You dont have to go online to authenticate afterwards. Essentialy there is a countdown clock of how many days and hours is left on your Plus subscription from the tome of downloading, so even if you never go online again the game is playable untill your plus subscription ends. Thats should help If I understand your question correctly that is.
@3Above Oh okay, thanks! That's what I kinda guessed.
I played a little of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on Xbox One and Bayonetta 2 on Wii U. Busy weekend before xmas...
Was able to get Assassin's Creed Unity for Xbox One, dirt cheap. In a way I sort of hate to admit this because of how f'ing bad they botched the game's release but now that it's patched up and playable there actually is a good, likeable game here. If they would've just used their brains and pushed it into March or something though, we could've had a polished, drama-free release instead of the bs we got. Gamers would've been happy, reviews probably would've been better and the development team would have received praise deserved on a job well done. Unfortunately there's publishers and their f'ing yearly release schedules for certain games...
