Renowned for unique and mystifying vocals, Russian born singer Origa passed away from cancer during the weekend at the age of 44. She spent most of her life working in Japan and contributed to the games industry by providing vocals to Final Fantasy XIII-2. Anyone who has played it will have undoubtedly heard her, as she not only provides the vocals for the first area New Bodhum, but also for the Historia Crux menu which you use to travel across time. Other songs she contributed include New Bodhum -Aggressive Mix-, Missing Link, Parallel World, Parallel World -Aggressive Mix-, and Space-Time Interval.
More recently, she provided vocals for Ar Nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star by singing a couple of hymns featured throughout the game. Her most famous work, however, is undoubtedly the opening songs for both seasons of the iconic anime series, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Not a fan of FFx111-2 but I give condolences to her an her family RIP. Bless up 🙏
I know the FF13 series gets a lot of flak but I think one thing most people can agree on is that the music throughout the series was fantastic. For me 13-2 tops them all with those tracks with her vocals being unlike any kind of music I had heard in a JRPG before. My condolences to her family on their loss. RIP.
Rest in piece Origa, sad to hear
Wow, how sad ☹
My thoughts go out to her family.
I haven't played the XIII trilogy, but if her work was good enough to be in a Final Fantasy game - then she clearly was talented.
RIP 🌹
Omg this is incredibly saddening and shocking! I loved her voice from Stand Alone Complex and was overjoyed when I heard New Bodhum in-game the first time (which I just listened to Saturday) Truly a great loss.
@Bliquid same here! "Inner Universe" is incredible. Her work on FFXIII-2 also speaks for itself. I just hope she knew how awesome her work was while she was still alive!
That's a tough loss... RIP
