Mortal Kombat's resident hat model will be switching out his smooth headgear for something a little more rugged in the forthcoming Mortal Kombat X. Ed Boon, the gravel voiced veteran behind the franchise, has tweeted out a high-res image of Kung Lao from the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 sequel, and he's sporting a spiky sombrero as opposed to his traditional razor-rimmed wide-brim.
The character's been doing the rounds in various magazines of late, but this is the first time that we've been treated to a direct feed snap of the fashionable fighter. The art style in this image looks a little more cartoony than previous glimpses of the game that we've seen, but that may merely be down to the angle or lighting. Either way, we can't wait to see the kind of damage that that headgear can do.

Sweet decapitation
Hmm, I'm not a fan of the new spiky hat. Hopefully X will include the classic skins as well.
This looks like it could compete with the Killer Instinct Reboot on XOne.
Of all the character re-designs I've seen for this game thus far this one is easily my least favourite, but I've still got an eager eye on this one. I'm sure they'll do multiple skins for all the characters, so I'm not too concerned.
