Indie games often get a lot of stick for employing dated gameplay mechanics or old-school visual styles, but Wales Interactive's forthcoming PlayStation 4 adventure Soul Axiom looks every inch a BioShock rival. A first-person sci-fi adventure, the title promises to take you on a journey through the "deepest, darkest recesses of your soul". According to the trailer, your inner-being looks a bit like Tron.
The release will see you transferring your spirit to a sprawling server which turns your memories and dreams into reality. "Explore [the game's] rich environments and immersive story to unravel the mystery of your life, and your digital afterlife," the official blurb reads. "You will be taken on an intriguing voyage of discovery, through beautiful, haunting locations, facing challenges that will lead you into danger on your mission to unlock your identity, your story, your mystery."
The futuristic foray is available in Early Access on Steam right now, but is set to hit Sony's next-gen machine in the fourth quarter of 2015, which means anywhere from October through December. We'll have more on this intriguing affair over the coming weeks, but in the meantime, check out the video embedded below. Has this piqued your interest? Upload your opinion in the comments section.
