The weather's awful, the Christmas break is over, and you're utterly broke after the holidays – Happy New Year, everyone! At least you've got that ever expanding backlog to keep you occupied through the dreary early weeks of January, and with the weekend now upon us, we want to know what you'll be playing over the coming days. You should know the drill by now, so let's hop to it.

I'm currently playing Child of Light, but I'm yet to be convinced that it's a game that I like. The graphics are gorgeous, that's for sure – but I must admit that I'm finding the gameplay a bit of a bore. It's something different, I can't deny. Game of the Year, though? I think that you're all high.

This weekend, I'll probably do what I've been doing all week: playing Woah Dave! in order to pen a lovely review for you to peruse with your lovely eyes. Of course, the timing of that review will be solely dependent on whether I can actually manage to pull myself away from its addictive arcade action for long enough to actually write the thing.
Nicola Hayden, News Reporter
I am finally taking a break from 'the game that shall not be named' and being a good girl by making sure to wrap up Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2: Sisters Generation ready for review. I was, however, quite taken by Secret Ponchos on New Year's night, so I might see if I can squeeze in a game or two as my beloved Kid Red.

This weekend, I'll be taking a trip down memory lane playing Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition for review. I've been surprised by just how much I remember from when I last played the game in the nineties, which is really surprising since I normally have trouble remembering what happened last week.

It's been a bit of a drought lately for new releases that have gotten me excited, but I'm perfectly content with jumping into The Swapper again, which I played (and loved) when it hit the PC. That will more than likely be enough to tide me over until Grim Fandango and Life Is Strange hit later this month.

I felt intrigued to play Luftrausers after it was awarded the Bronze Trophy in Push Square's Best PS Vita Games of 2014, since Vlambeer's fighter plane shooter had evaded my radar on its initial launch. Addictiveness has encouraged me to grind my way to becoming a Level 10 Rauser pilot so far, even though I've only confronted the blimp a half-dozen times.

I start school in a few days and plan to do a lot of writing before then, but that's not going to stop me from playing as many video games as I can this weekend. I'm going all in with Transistor, The Evil Within, and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. By the way, did I mention how surprisingly good the last game is? Since I wasn't fond of the third entry, this one has turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me – it's the best Assassin's Creed since the second instalment if you ask me.

My weekend is looking all too familiar. Like the past three or so before it, I'm planning on pouring unreasonable amounts of time into Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. If it has the bravery to challenge my addiction, there's a fair chance that I'll try The Swapper out as well.
The first WAYP of the year is done and dusted, so now it's your turn to tell us about all of the titles that you'll be playing this weekend. Are you clearing out your backlog, or have you got something new to try? Speak up in the comments section below.

Destiny (lvl 31 grind) and maybe some GTA V.
Prototype 2 and maybe Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition.
I did plan on catching up on Bones on NOW TV but the app doesn't work properly, screen goes dark or green either that or it just crashes and the times it doesn't crash it won't accept any input from the X button
good job the XB1 has the app too guess I'll have to get it back out it's box and set it back up
I will be revising some articles I've been writing and playing some Alien: Isolation. I've ignored the game for far too long
Dead Space 3 (PS3)- Just started playing last night, best co-op game I've played in a while!
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale(Vita)- As always! Love this game, don't care about what anybody says!
Duke Nukem 3D (Vita)- weird game..
Borderlands 2 (Vita)
Velocity 2X
And uh been in the mood to play some Kid Icarus: Uprising online
I'm not old-school enough for Duke Nukem. I played it for about five minutes, and got stuck. They don't make 'em like this anymore... (Thank heavens!)
@get2sammyb yeah, where the hell was lateral strafing in the 90s?
I'd play Xenosaga Ep1 if my ps3 worked. Prolly just play Inquisition or try to finish up Black Flag at last.
Btw: anyone still play Ricochet on steam? Hysterical.
Playing the same game I feel like I've been playing for decades now lol.. dragon age inquisition. I have one last area to clear out (hissing wastes) before I continue on with the main story.. I have no idea what's left story wise but I've poured over 140 hours into the game thus far and the content just keeps coming and coming lol.
Its all been about Tlou:r multiplayer since a certain editor recomended it on here, cant get enough of it. And Driveclub as it really is a great racer now, finally lol.
@mitcHELLspawn I'm only at 50 and now I am terrified. This will eat at least the next two months of my life.
PS4: Dragon Age Inquisition (100+ hrs in)
Vita: Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
Wii U: Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
3DS: Xeodrifter
X1: Forza Horizon 2
Protoype 2 and Whoah Dave!, I think...
@get2sammyb you're high, talking like that about Child of Light.
I'm playing Destiny on my PS3 and Susnset Overdrive on my Xbox One. That is, if Persona Q lets me do it...
@NicolaHayden haha yeah its definitely a time eater. That being said you don't have to take this long to beat it.. it's possible to ignore a lot of the side questing and just continue on with the main story. It's all in how you play.
I wish I could play dragon age Inquisition but it literally bores me to sleep.
@mitcHELLspawn
Well I finished the main story in First Light last night so I will probably be hitting Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition on PS4 this weekend.
Other then that not quite sure what I will play.
I want to play Dragon Age Inquisition so freaking bad. I almost caved and got the PS3 version...
I'm 99% sure it will be my first PS4 game when I finally get one.
Well I have a huge backlog thanks to Christmas, and its a bit overwhelming for me.
InFamous First Light (PS4)- Thanks to PS+ I'll be giving this one a try. I'm a huge fan of InFamous and I really enjoyed InFamous Second Son and Delsin's story now it will be interesting to get to know more about Fetch. Second Son was my first ever platinum so I'll be firing this one up and platinuming it as well.
Dragon Age Inquisition (PS4)- This was one of the games I picked up with some of my Christmas cash. Its a bit overwhelming for me ATM so I haven't touched it in a while so I'm hoping to go back to it tonight and messing around in that huge world.
Farcry 4 (PS4)- This is another I picked up with my Christmas money. I was a huge fan of Farcry 3 and this one seems too similar and with less interesting characters. I have to grind through this one.
The Last Of Us (PS4)- Amazing game from the geniuses at Naughty Dog. I want to go back to it. All this Uncharted 4 talk about how they're influenced by TLOU is making me want to play through it again.
@Splat you should finally get a ps4.... now lol. Dragon age looks gorgeous I'm not gonna lie! And dying light should be sweet at the end of the month which isn't coming to ps3 anymore.
@NicolaHayden hahah pretty much. It's the way I play and man is it kicking my ass! I only have like 8 trophies left to get and 3 of them are unmissable story ones.
I just finished the story of dragon age, I still need to kill 5 more dragons. Find the last recruitable agent and do the companion quest I didn't do before completing the story. Besides that I have way to many games to play, I finally finished the 400 days dlc so I can start the walking dead season 2. I still need to finish akiba's trip: undead and undressed. I also just bought murdered soul suspect, styx the master of shadow and terraria. And then I still have infamous first light, the swapper, duke nukem and woah dave! Through plus.
I'm 40ish hours in to Dragon Age: Inquisition and still loving it all....exploring all the areas and completing the side quests, it's a game that just keeps on giving. I'm hoping to have clocked another 10-20hrs by Monday and maybe even get somewhere with one of the romances I've been pursuing in it....plus all the demon slaying and world saving stuff.
Half way through shadow of mordor (loving it). And fantasy life
DA:I and probably a little AW on PS4.. if my son lets me get my hands on the XB1 I have a large backlog of titles I'd like to get into, but thats not likely lol.
Dragon age inquisition. Too busy with that to jump into gtav or play cod aw again.
Like most of you I'm taking my sweet time with Dragon Age, and I am not rushing through it. I probably won't be officially done with that game until the end of summer at the rate I am going in. That being said, I have been taking a break from that game during the holiday break and focusing on others. I have my sails set on beating Black Flag so I can move on with Unity.
Dragon Age Inquisition: I just bought the game & am enjoying it. There's so much to explore & do. Gonna be about 2 months before I actually platinum the game.
My PS Vita: Mostly FFVIII, with a dash of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max and Mega Man Maverick Hunter X.
3DS XL: Bravely Default, MGS3D Snake.
Wii U: Super Smash Bros., Bayonetta.
Ill be playing The Swapper on Vita using my PS4 save since im at work tonight. Just preordered the Resident Evil Remake for PS4 so that ill get the ps3 version free. I hope they have separate trophy lists.
Too many Europeans on this website, not enough NFL play-off watching
(Yes I know its UK based, been here forever, its a joke)
But since todays games suck, Captain Toad, book 3.
Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (3DS) - Beat the elite four earlier today. Might get started on the post-game content, and begin making a proper team soon.
SteamWorld Dig (3DS) - I've had this game for a while, but never got around to it until just recently.
Other than that, might start either Ducktales Remastered (PS3) or Metal Gear Solid (PS1) pretty soon. I've actually never played any of the MGS games despite owning a few of them, so I plan on going through most of the series before The Phantom Pain releases.
I've been playing Golden Sun for gameboy advance on the retron 5 so far. Although I have basically every console from the last few generations including Xbox one and ps4, I've really been enjoying these older titles in my collection lately. Retron 5 makes them all look great on the tv as well, which definitely doesn't hurt.
PS4: Dragon Age Inquisition and Madden 15
PC: Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen Arena Commander
Destiny and Atlier: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky-Escha and Logy for me. The latter of which I just started today am quite liking it. I plan to keep playing both of these games too, so it'll be interesting to see how that pans out as the one thing they both have in common is that they're very time consuming.
I finally completed Batman: Arkham Origins (PS3) yesterday, almost done unlocking the trophies I care enough about.
After that's done, I'll probably start playing either Dead Space 3 (PS3) or Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (PS3).
I'm a couple of hours into Dragon Age: Origins and I'm thinking I'll be leaving it there. Maybe I picked the wrong class - Warrior/Tank?
@Dohv youre right on the money about farcry4. Its exactly like 3 (even 99% the same weapons and reload animations), but in a far less interesting environment. Its just a hilly countryside with mountains in the background. Admittedly, some areas look great but theyre usually only accessible in storyline missions.
It isnt a terrible game by any means, but it just lacks that certain feeling that FC3 did manage
Oh, and I am playing dukenukem on ps3 currently and just completed uncharted 2. Thinking about buying wolfenstein because I heard good stories about it and I am really loving the 90's FPS vibe currently. And maybe uncharted 3 as well, I liked 2 but I feel like the pacing was a little off sometimes (too much shooting or climbing in a row)
Forza Horizon 2 and Halo 2 Anniversary.
Alternating between Alien: Isolation, The Last of Us Factions, and GTA V (both online and off).
Working on my Unity platinum.
I'll be putting in even more hours on Minecraft. Since Destiny bombed and that was the last video game money I had I'll be mining away until I can afford GTA V.
I had a pretty productive weekend, finished KZ:Merc and Metrico, and played through Valiant Hearts and Joe Danger from start to finish! Also managed to put a fair bit of time into the Swapper, which I'm absolutely loving so far.
Dragon Age, as usual, is a very slow ongoing WIP. I will finish it. One day. Possibly this year...
@Fandabidozi : the krankies ? awesome !
@eliotgballade
Lol, thanks
