The weather's awful, the Christmas break is over, and you're utterly broke after the holidays – Happy New Year, everyone! At least you've got that ever expanding backlog to keep you occupied through the dreary early weeks of January, and with the weekend now upon us, we want to know what you'll be playing over the coming days. You should know the drill by now, so let's hop to it.

I'm currently playing Child of Light, but I'm yet to be convinced that it's a game that I like. The graphics are gorgeous, that's for sure – but I must admit that I'm finding the gameplay a bit of a bore. It's something different, I can't deny. Game of the Year, though? I think that you're all high.

This weekend, I'll probably do what I've been doing all week: playing Woah Dave! in order to pen a lovely review for you to peruse with your lovely eyes. Of course, the timing of that review will be solely dependent on whether I can actually manage to pull myself away from its addictive arcade action for long enough to actually write the thing.

I am finally taking a break from 'the game that shall not be named' and being a good girl by making sure to wrap up Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2: Sisters Generation ready for review. I was, however, quite taken by Secret Ponchos on New Year's night, so I might see if I can squeeze in a game or two as my beloved Kid Red.

This weekend, I'll be taking a trip down memory lane playing Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition for review. I've been surprised by just how much I remember from when I last played the game in the nineties, which is really surprising since I normally have trouble remembering what happened last week.

It's been a bit of a drought lately for new releases that have gotten me excited, but I'm perfectly content with jumping into The Swapper again, which I played (and loved) when it hit the PC. That will more than likely be enough to tide me over until Grim Fandango and Life Is Strange hit later this month.

I felt intrigued to play Luftrausers after it was awarded the Bronze Trophy in Push Square's Best PS Vita Games of 2014, since Vlambeer's fighter plane shooter had evaded my radar on its initial launch. Addictiveness has encouraged me to grind my way to becoming a Level 10 Rauser pilot so far, even though I've only confronted the blimp a half-dozen times.

I start school in a few days and plan to do a lot of writing before then, but that's not going to stop me from playing as many video games as I can this weekend. I'm going all in with Transistor, The Evil Within, and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. By the way, did I mention how surprisingly good the last game is? Since I wasn't fond of the third entry, this one has turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me – it's the best Assassin's Creed since the second instalment if you ask me.

My weekend is looking all too familiar. Like the past three or so before it, I'm planning on pouring unreasonable amounts of time into Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. If it has the bravery to challenge my addiction, there's a fair chance that I'll try The Swapper out as well.

The first WAYP of the year is done and dusted, so now it's your turn to tell us about all of the titles that you'll be playing this weekend. Are you clearing out your backlog, or have you got something new to try? Speak up in the comments section below.
