Destiny didn't come anywhere near the top of our internal Game of the Year poll, but you lot did pick it as your Silver Trophy in our community vote. Indeed, it would appear that Bungie's intergalactic shooter is a lot more popular outside of Push Square Towers' hallowed walls, as the sci-fi affair has also topped the PlayStation Blog's annual best of breakdown.
The title brushed aside all of the competition on the PlayStation 4, while it secured the silver gong on the PlayStation 3. Meanwhile, the developer behind the out-of-this-world escapade also came third in the Studio of the Year rundown, with only Naughty Dog and Rockstar North beating it out. Dark Souls II won the best PS3 release, while Child of Light fought off Freedom Wars to take Vita's top prize.
There were no surprises in the PlayStation Plus category, as 400,000 voters overlooked the vast array of indie games, pegging BioShock: Infinite and Injustice: Gods Among Us as their top two picks. Unsurprisingly, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End won the most anticipated title, alongside Batman: Arkham Knight, Persona 5, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
We're not going to list all of the winners here, so we'll redirect you to the PlayStation Blog's summary post for that. We also pinky promise that this will be our last post on Game of the Year related stuff for the foreseeable future. Yeah, we're getting sick of it as well.

Well I've clearly played a different Destiny.
All i got from it was: go here, send ghost to do stuff, listen to some admittedly good ost, fight off waves of goons, find and kill lover of bullets boss. Rinse and repeat. Oh and if you want a story well go to Bungie's website. Its horrible.
Not a surprise, there will be plenty of people that have only bought destiny. My brother still plays it everyday and not much else. Those same people haven't played much of anything else I reckon, probably a fat wedge of new Sony customers played maybe just destiny Fifa cod and the last of us. I'd say it probably deserves to be in the top ten on gameplay alone, but it shouldn't really be in the top five.
meh...
Rinse and repeat DLCiny for me just topped "the most disappointing game of the year" award
I play every day. I've got a good group that I met through destinylfg.com, and its good solid fun.
Destiny is the Marmite of gaming....love it or hate it....or be crushingly disappointed by it not being what you thought it would be like. It's far enough away from the release of the game that most people's opinions of it are set. While I and others are not fans of it, plenty of other people clearly are....the time for arguing about it all is long in the past. The people who like it will continue to rabidly defend it...those that aren't fans, or more accurately were disappointed by what the game ended up being should have moved onto other things. Personally playing Alien: Isolation, Shadow or Mordor and currently Dragon Age: Inquisition has helped me leave Destiny in my gaming past....and it certainly won't be in my gaming future.
The crucible is still great.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Remember though, the people who visit the blog aren't going to be your average consumer. They're going to be more of a hardcore gamer. I think about 400,000 voted in the poll. I doubt most of the people are like the ones you mentioned who are casual and just play Destiny and Fifa.
@Davros79 It is, I just wish it had a few more permenant modes. Still love it though.
I think it's kind of silly the way people have been hating on destiny(STILL) like it's the worse thing that's ever happened to them..someone asked me earlier why I liked it and I replied that I thought it was difficult to answer because I know the game is flawed..but it has that "something" that just pulls you in..and to me that helps to make a great game.
When will this site just admit that they were wrong?
Given it's their opinion that Destiny isn't a great game and that opinions can never be wrong...never.
I actually quite like it. And find it enjoyable. Especially if you have a big group of people to play it with
@teknium_ The game plays great, it looks great, it sounds great... but for me it was one of the most disappointing games I've ever played. It's such a shame that such a fantastic game engine is held back by a lack of content, shady content withholding, and horrible progression design. I understand how people enjoy it and I understand how people can vote it as game of the year, but I see it as nothing more than a horrible example of the gaming industry.
Then again, games of luck have never been my thing....
@Jonny so true..but i can kind of get what the other person was getting..this site and various others seem to take there dislike of destiny a little too far and they don't seem to be able to let it go..some of the stuff I've read on here regarding destiny isn't even that well written, seems a little childish at times..I expect better on here..its not ign
@NathanUC it being a horrible example of the gaming industry can be said about most big titles over the last few years..seems a lot of the hate for destiny(not necessarily on here) comes from fans of dude Bro, corridor type shooters..im huge battlefield fan(since bf1942)and CoD to a certain extent(blops1 and the first couple of mw)..me and my 12yo son and a few workmates followed destiny quite closely all the way from the start and it's everything bungie said it would be..im.not sure what people were expecting when they say it didn't live up to expectation or what bungie promised..
@teknium_ I completely agree that isn't not the only bad seed. Personally, I had hoped that Destiny WOULDN'T follow the poor examples other FPS have set in the past few years. Bungie failed to create an endgame they 'promised', failed to create a social shooter as 'promised', failed to put any effort into a story as 'promised', and overall failed to make a challenging/rewarding game as 'promised'.
Even being slightly forgiving of the horrible lack of content, the luck based progression system alone was enough to seal it's destiny as the worst $60 game I've ever bought. Again, these are just reasons why I was horribly disappointed in the 'finished' product. I'm not trying to sell anyone my standpoint, but I thought I should give more details that explain my opinions and the logic behind it.
I expected a halo worthy campaign with the open galactic ambition of no mans sky, being able to trade (economy) with other players and racing those sparrows honestly.
Hmmm, I wonder what led me to believe that........ Bungie???? Lol. Good game, and very addictive, but still dissapointing. As far as expectations.
So nobody is going to comment on Vita's 2014 GOTY being a game that even the Wii U had at launch? I played it, I liked it, but w/ all the hardware at it's disposable I thought Vita would have had something more like Gravity Rush or Tearaway as GOTY.
@Jaz007 I'd guess that the majority are casual gamers, there's still only an average of 4 games bought and probably 90% of ps4 owners have only bought 1 or 2 games and the remaining 10% bought a whole lot more.
@rjejr I'm having a hard time typing with one had as my other is so far through my face. We had Toukiden, Takes of Hearts R, Danganropa, Ys, Soul Sacrifice Delta... I don't even remember playing/finishing Child of Light or The Binding of Isaac....
At least Freedom Wars made the list... I would have had to break up with the PlayStation blog if it didn't.. instead I'll just have to give it the ol' stink eye for not giving it Game of the Year... overall.
@NathanUC fair point about the endgame..but they also said a ten year life span so...it is a very social game(to me at least) and what you said about story isn't entirely accurate...the story is there and it's quite interesting..lol only downside is that it's outside the game..it's not like I'm trying to defend destiny, even though I'm a huge fan of it..i just don't understand the amount of hatred it gets..even watchdogs didn't get this much hate!...just want to add that I find it a challenge and I also find it rewarding, this may be down to the fact that I've played so many mmo over the years so destiny's grind to get rewards is something I'm used to..and i realise that everyone has different opinions..but come on,you can't have bought many games at 60usd if destiny is the WORSE! 😜
@teknium_ I generally avoid buying bad games, but Destiny tricked me. I trusted Bungie when they said to ignore early reviews... The only other game I can think of that I was this annoyed at was Star Wars: The Old Republic.
My mini rant on Destiny is over. Now I need to focus on my Vita rant
@rjejr
No one cares
I'll never play Destiny, not into FPS and it has no story anyways,
"Xur about that" I'm dying. hahaha. Great sub header Sammy.
I find Destiny to be much more fun when playing with friends. Simply put, its probably the most fun I've had playing with others in a video game. Everyday, albeit regurgitated missions etc., there is a sense of purpose for firing Destiny up. To knock out bounties and level your gear, with your buddies.
@metalman5150 spoken like a true prodigy.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi But why would casuals check the blog, and then if they did, why would they bother to log and vote. Plus, 400,000 thousand voted, which isn't even half of 10% of PS4 owners.
