DriveClub runs like butter these days, but Evolution Studios has said that the racer's promised PlayStation Plus version is still not ready for primetime. And in an interview with Metro, SCEE boss Jim Ryan has furthered that the format holder still has nothing to share on the subject.
"That's still being looked at," he said of the free digital download. "I can't say anything at this stage." Our guess is that the stripped down version that was originally due out last October has been scrapped, and will be replaced by the full game when all of its DLC is available. To be honest, that sounds like a better deal to us.

Looking forward to The Last Guardian being a PS+ launch title for PS5.
BTW - "Our guess is that the stripped down version that was originally due out last October"
Actually, it wasn't "originally" due out "last Oct", it was due out Oct 2013, 2 Octobers ago.
So said Sony President Shuhei Yoshida. Oh, and he also made "clear" that PS+ would get it:
"To be clear, DRIVECLUB PlayStation Plus Edition will still be part of the Instant Game Collection when it is released."
Presidents. blah

Oh this is still a thing? lol they shot themselves in the foot with this.
Hopefully they won't have it take up a Plus game slot when it releases in fulk on Plus. That's the least they could do considering that was the original plan and it would help apologize.
I hope we get the full game instead. It would definitely make up for the crummy issues that occurred. This was one of the games I looked forward to last year and didn't buy because of the plethora of issues the game had. Since it could potentially be a freebie though, I'll just wait awhile longer!
Yeah yeah and im still waiting for Last Guardian
They might as well give it away for free as by the time this PS Plus edition is release, you'll be able to pick up the game dirt cheap.
We're probably just gonna get the full game on plus later this year.
@rjejr
Far too optimistic.
They still need to release the Plus Edition or end up facing a lawsuit.
@Punished_Boss_84 Why would they end up getting a law suit? Alot of games have been cancelled in the past. Should I sue Blizzard for cancelling Titan? Or maybe I should sue Disney for cancelling 1313?
@tasuki was blizzard advertising a new computer you should buy by promising Titan would be free at launch?
@Tasuki
False advertisement. Plus Edition is a promised feature, Games that get canned, feature no obligation to be released and doesn't decieve customers in order to get a lawsuit.
Now if they canned the Plus Edition before Driveclub launched, communicated that, they probably would have got away with it. It's too late to can this without a lawsuit.
I hope you are right Sammy and they are waiting to give the whole game to us as a ps+ game. That would definitely appease the folks who feel burned. However that is kind of a slap in the face to those who bought the game.
IGN says that the guy who was interviewed wouldn't commit to the PS+ version coming at all. Ever. In fact, the whole tone of the same news was completely different on that site & others.
This site, which is filled with Driveclub apologists for some reason, will obviously paint this news in a different light, which may not be entirely accurate.
Either way, it sounds like the chances of this game coming to PS+ are slim......at best.
@Punished_Boss_84 - That reminds me, for Halloween 2007 I wore a white t-shirt w/ a picture of Mr Met on it that said "Have you seen me? If so please contact Major League Baseball." On the back it said - "Your season has come. And gone." It was a big hit at the party, lots of Mets fans there.
@Tasuki
Your point makes no sense towards the argument here. Driveclub didn't get cancelled. They lied about a free version they were offering & using to try to sell systems & get people to sign up for PlayStation Plus. That's not even close to the same thing as Blizzard cancelling a game.
The usual melodrama from the usual commenters I see. Ho hum!
@Godsire- driveclubs a good game in its current state, but yeah the debacle was pretty infuriating. I believe the good work they have put into the game post release has been pretty phenomenal and if you can play the game for what it is you will enjoy it. On the japenese update (not the dlc) I've somehow got 10 new tracks only found it tonight.... And it was free. But the release and the first couple of months was a joke.
@Godsire- which is why I won't support this developer in the future. They really "cucumbered" the Playstation audience by holding onto that carrot on the end of a stick. A lot can be said about a studio when things like this happen, and because of what's happened so far with this PS+ edition, they are just teasing the audience. It's not a good thing when developers do that. This is like EA, but with less money, I can already tell that if the developers for driveclub got a buttload of cash, they would be just as bad as EA.
Had it happened on release then kudos . . . But now it's kinda MEH for all my PS4 mates. It was such a crap-happy release it's annoyed a few of us. Ambitious yes! Executed well No! No-one on my list that I play with is that stoked at all about this release.
@Tasuki Drive club has been released though massive difference
I'm still willing to play this. I'm a somewhat decent fan if motorstorms developer, except I didn't like apacolypse or RV as much as Pacific rift. However not compared to Pacific rift, they were decent games. Apacolypse should have been named something else since it didn't feel like a motor storm game, and RV was obviously a spinoff. And drive club looks great minus the issues that hindered it at launch. So I would give it a try if it does release on PS Plus, and if I like it, I'd buy it since I consider PS Plus a rental subscription service at best. And I hope that doesn't sound like I hate PS plus, I actually think its really well done. However I'd like to actually keep the games if I lose my subscription.
All in all, I will event play this. Hopefully soon.
